Thunder Machine. If for no other reason than that I went though the trouble of obtaining one for my modern Drednoks.
Wow, I appreciate the option for "other," but you sure did leave off a few very tangible options.
Tomahawk, Whale and Hydrofoil being three very realistic possibilities.
But, I hadn't even thought of the dragonfly as a possibility. That's a good one. I could almost put money down on it being this one. If it does come out, I hope they forgo giving us Wild Bill. I know nobody likes the 25th version, but he's fine for piloting a vehicle. I'd like to see them give us another needed character instead. Maybe a Sunbow Flint or something.
Either way, I've had a back up comic pack Wild Bill just waiting for it.

I'd really like to see a Tomahawk, but instead of making a faithful reproduction of the original, I'd like to see them make a PoC Tomahawk. Basically make something that when you see it you know immediately that it is a Tomahawk, but is ramped up. Just as long as it isn't tiny.

I'm going with the Thunder Machine... I don't think they would go "big" with the Rolling Thunder, Tomahawk or WHALE. I could be wrong, of course, but I just don't see them committing to something that big.
I'm really starting to think it will be the Dragonfly. Has to be something they can repaint if it's in the vein of the new Skystriker, which we all know will be a Night Boomer at some point (and has already been an SDCC exclusive).
Edit: And my vote for pilot is a Sunbow Airborne!

I voted APC, because it's my all time favorite joe vehicle. I played with that thing until a wheel fell off; literally. A dragonhawk would be cool too, but there has to be a way of getting large numbers of joes from place to place. The APC carries at least 2x as much as a tomahawk or whale; although those would be nice too.

I would lean towards a real classic, like the WHALE, Tomahawk or maybe even the Mauler since we know they had recently attempted to retool some of the molds but found it too pricey at the time. A Dragonfly would be cool, but you know they'd make it into a one-seater like the Skystriker.

Well if we go by clues the Hasbro team has given to us in past Q&A sessions I'd bet we see an updated Dragonfly. If it's not the Dragonfly. It'll be the Warthog with Sgt. Slaughter (Warthog version) While I'd love to see a Tomahawk or Killer Whale updated. I just don't see them offering those yet.

It's going to be something that will fit in one of the two current vehicle pricepoints/packaging for the Retaliation line. So it won't be a WHALE, Tomahawk, Mamba, or anything particularly "Big."
My realistic guess? A simple tan repaint of the Ninja Combat Cruiser representing the Vamp Mk. II.
My optimistic guess? You MIGHT be able to squeeze a Dragonfly into the Bravo vehicle box if you were creative. Thunder Machine? A distant possibility, and would fit into the Bravo box, but given that Dreadnoks have basically become "exclusive" material rather than "main retail line" material, I wouldn't count on it.
My "disappointing" guess?: Slightly retooled Snarler Cycle as the Silver Mirage.
Another offhand guess: The Devil Fish as an Alpha Vehicle.
If they were more clever than we give them credit for: An updated/modern Despoiler

So was the original Skystriker but they made that one a one-seater for the 30th version. I was basically saying the if they do the Phantom they need to keep it as a two-seater.

Devilfish repaint would be cool for the free vehicle...could do it up in Nightforce colors (cant think of a better theme for it they could be using for next year, Nightforce has a lot of goodies and easy repaints/kit-bashes). However the Skystriker for the club would be insanely expensive...it would be limited to like 200 units at $300 each at the con store lol....

As much as I would love to see an updated Dragonfly or Tomahawk, I think the vehicle will be a tank of some sort.
Hasbro was already planing a straight up repaint of the Mauler for ROC, perhaps a re-tool/update isn't too far off. It actually would make sense given how Cobra keeps getting Hiss tanks and Joes have had jack for I don't know how many years.

Looking back at what we've gotten in the past five years, I am going to say it's the Dragonfly.
We got the Snow Cat, Ferret, Rattler, VAMP and Water Moccasin in the 25th/ME line. Which all are part of the ARAH Tiger Force. The Dragonfly is the only one left (and the Devilfish) from that sub group.
I really don't see Hasbro releasing a large vehicle like the WHALE Hovercraft or Tomahawk. Then again I wasn't expecting the Sky Striker last summer. Also how well did the Sky Striker sell (before clearance)?

A tomahawk or Mauler would be great.
What would be cool is they totally redid the MOBAT as a real vehicle, larger size with opening hatches, etc...no motorized action...but working treads.
I'd be happy if they stuck the recent Stinger in the bravo assortment.
The Tomahawk or Whale would get my vote, though I'd be happy with another Whilrwind w/ Range Viper set.

I've been HOPING Whale for awhile now, but expecting the Moray...they have the mold and used it 2005 so to me at least that seems like the most cost effective re-release maybe redesign the launcher (which at times was a little tweeky) remold the rear floor boards, toss in a better set of rear guns maybe even a better depth charge systems and its really good to go again...HOPEFULLY add in the Lamprey again BUT if its a better price point I can live without another since they gave us the DoCI pack and the ROC Aqua Viper Officer already...BUT adding a Hydro Viper would be a complete sold for me.

I'm beginning to think and HOPE that's what it is..especially since I broke my old one way back in the day..by mutilating the rotors.

I usually don't say this about Hasbro product because even if the toy overall isn't to my liking the quality control is usually good but in this case, the 2005 Moray was garbage. It is no wonder to me why that thing was on clearance, the quality was atrocious at best and if Hasbro were to make another, I hope they increase the tolerances all around and make that thing sturdy and work right.

To be honest I'd love to see them revisit the hiss two from 1989. Either that or the DTC Hiss with some upgrades. The Bugg was neat because it held tons of figures and had great play features. Although the colors on that thing were way over the top. Cobra always had smaller vehicles. The Joe's had the Rolling Thunder and all kinds of other large kick ass vehicles.

How is this list too small? We have a lot of the old stuff already updated to fit the ME figures. They said that this will be an old vehicle that will be released much like the Skystriker and that it will be a main prominent vehicle. Not a reinvention. We have the VAMP and RoC Nigh Raven for that.
Here is a list of of the vehicles that we need (not including Large Playsets, Small Vehicles, Battlefield Accessories or Battle Stations) by year. We will most likely get one on these 35 vehicles below, but which one?

1983 A.P.C., Dragonfly [XH1], PAC RATs, Wolverine, Joe Twin Battle Gun, Falcon Glider & Viper Glider

I don't think it HAS to be in one of the current vehicle classes. I remember last December when Kokomo Toys got their first solicitations for Retaliation stuff that there was an Echo class vehicle in there. Maybe it was originally supposed to come out this Christmas, but with the move of the movie, they had to push it back.
If there were intended to be an "Echo" vehicle, they would have shown it at Toy Fair. So its' cancellation had little to do with the movie getting delayed. Plus, with the debacle surrounding the movie toys and the delay of the film, let's just say I'm HIGHLY skeptical that retailers are about to jump on board and pick up a new pricepoint/shelf space profile for a film tie-in that no longer has "summer blockbuster" buzz and already potentially burned them with an unsupported release on the wave 1 material. I would speculate they would be doubly leery about picking up said new pricepoint for a "larger" Joe vehicle when it's not even a vehicle that's in the movie. The Skystriker is still moldering on shelves in a lot of places, so it's not like we can base any speculation on the "wild success of the Skystriker." In fact its' relatively low sell-through may well be why we didn't get an "Echo" vehicle for Retaliation (along with lingering memories of the RoC Night Raven).
Also, I doubt that they would tell people to be on the lookout for a classic vehicle if it was just an Alpha level vehicle coming out, or if it was just a repaint. I think that the Dragonfly is a good guess though.
Why not? Why is a Vamp Mk. II or a Devil Fish any less valid as a "classic" vehicle than something larger? I think that's exactly the kind of move Hasbro would make, so they can still technically claim that a "new classic vehicle" has been put out for us collectors and if/when we whine about it just dismiss it as us being our usual ungrateful/whiny/entitled/impossible to please selves. Note that nowhere at all did they say it was going to be an entirely new mold, or that it was going to be "Big" in terms of size.
I'm just trying to temper peoples' expectations, because I think a lot of folks are setting themselves up for some of that aforementioned whining when it gets unveiled at Toy Fair and isn't anything particularly spectacular. I would be beyond astounded if it ended up something on the level of the Skystriker. Think more "Night Landing" or "Sky Hawk" and less "Skystriker" is all I'm saying.

Maybe they had really low expectations, and they were exceeded, so they are going forward with another large vehicle. My gut feeling is that it isn't the case, but in the end we don't really know anything for sure.
If there really was a larger vehicle, if they had intended for it to be a Christmas release instead of a summer release, I don't think it would be strange for them to plan to hold it back for Joecon/SDCC.
I don't have any big expectations, I'm just saying that I would find it really weird for Hasbro to say in their panel that there is a classic vehicle coming at Toyfair, if it wasn't something that the designers were really excited about. There's just no benefit to them getting people's hopes up over something that is an Alpha vehicle. If it was something small, then I could see them saying something like "at Toyfair we are going to have some classic items for you to see" not, "at toy there is going to be a classic vehicle." What they said just seems like they had something in the works that they were really excited about, and really wanted to get out to the fans. I just don't see there being any Alpha vehicle or repaint that would fit that description.

Everything goes to clearance. It is how a store gets rid of stock on the shelf when they change their layout. The Skystrikers were on shelves for 10 months. Plenty got restocked.
My guess is the Whale tho it will need major retooling to fit the taller figures. The Tomahawk might need more of a rebuild for the taller figures. Whatever they do make I know I will buy 1 or 2. No where close to the 13 Skystrikers I picked up to repaint tho.

I vote Mauler.
But I'll also take a Wolverine, a Dragonfly or any of the towed equipment (HAL, Whirlwind, etc).
STUN, HAVOC and Devilfish are other possibilities, but I'm not really interested in those.
Agree that the Tomahawk, Whale, Night Raven and Hydrofoil are all cool, but too big, even in a movie year.

Quite a number of you have said the Sky Striker failed and that it warmed shelves but in my area barely any made it to clearance(the only one I saw was repacked wtf), and while they were usually on shelves, they replenished quick because they were selling. I would keep track of the ones I saw since I got a few to customize. Not many Tiger Rats and Python Conquests went on clearance here and the Rattler was always tough to find. I did see Slipstream's Conquest on clearance more than the other 3 but even then not much.
Hell I never saw these things on clearance at TRU and there are none left at my local ones.
I don't know if a bigger vehicle was planned for Retaliation THIS YEAR but things do chaange and next year is a completely different animal. I remember in 2010 there was only ONE guy positively thinking we would even get a Skystriker and everyone else thought he was overly optimistic then Toy Fair 2011 rolled around....
What I've learned is that well, who the hell knows what we're getting? Leaks aren't as rampant, Hasbro is as tight lipped as usual and I find it fun to actually not know for sure what is coming out. However I doubt the design team would make a big fuss about s small vehicle, small vehicles are a given, if something is exciting them it's gotta be big. I don't mean FLAGG big but somewhere along the lines off the Tomahawk or WHALE is a reasonable expectation.

I have no idea what the vehicle would be. Obviously there are several really cool options. However my question is, what type of quality would we get? The Skystriker in my opinion was junk. I didn't buy one and it seemed to warm the shelves in my area. At least until they went on clearance.
If we got something cool like a Whale, would it be six inches long and be constructed of shoddy plastic? Would it be something we really wanted? The same could be said for the other choices. Is Hasbro willing to go the extra mile for their products anymore? I saw the movie figures, and man they looked cheap.
I am lucky because I was a collector during the 80's heyday of Joe! I remember walking into the Joe aisle of TRU and seeing literally hundreds of figures on the pegs and vehicles stocked to the ceiling. However the product was relatively inexpensive, and extremely well made. Can Hasbro even do that anymore? And if they somehow pulled it together to put out a quality Whale, how much would it cost? $80? $120?

the OP said hasbro said "major update" (i didnt go to the panel but let's say that's what they said...) i dont think an update to a small vehicle would warrant a "major" update tag
Except the Ninja Combat Cruiser is the largest vehicle class Hasbro currently has.
"Major" update could easily be wordplay. It isn't like Hasbro hasn't given a particular impression and then turned out that their heads weren't in the same place as many collectors before.
A fully new-sculpt small vehicle (ie Devilfish) would still be a "major" update to that vehicle.
Once again, I'm just saying: The folks that keep saying WHALE or Tomahawk are likely setting themselves up for disappointment, because there's no price point or "class" of vehicle that could currently hold a vehicle of that size, and if they were going to release a "big" vehicle it almost certainly would have come with the movie "push" and been something at least tangentially related to the movie (like a larger Ghost Hawk II, for example).
I'm pretty convinced it's gonna be something that fits into the current vehicle classes.

I love the HAVOC, and it's one of the few Joe vehicles I had as a kid, but I don't think it would do well. I've been surprised at how critical of it people have been on forums over the years.
Why don't you guys just go out and buy whales and tomahawks other than waiting for hasbro to make crappy remakes of legendary vehicles that will never live up to the originals?
Well, those two in particular have a few issues, including completeness and availability (in regard to cost). And there's the size issue. I'd like to see Hasbro do any vehicle in a way that stays true to the original but accommodates the new figure size. Also, anything that ups the ante on the original would be nice. I think a new HISS that's v1 in looks, but larger, has functional rubber treads and a compartment that can open and hold figures, would be a lot of fun. Make it Sunbow-accurate with gray trades and wheels and I'd be in heaven.

I don't see how the delay of product to tie into the movie has had anymore damage to Joe than the last two years of weak retail support (in particular, Walmart's practical NON-support of the line to begin with).
It isn't like RoC where you had PILES of figures just sitting on shelves, or even PoC where Arctic Destro bogged down retailers for almost half a year.

been thinking about it......given the box size for the Skystriker, they could do a night raven, just make it in two pieces like the ROC raven......
not saying I want one though...
also, if the Tomahawk was unassembled, it would fit in the skystriker box as well, just have the body come in 4 pieces; 2 sides, the bottom and the top snap together....then all the other parts snap on...

While this is all true, there was no indication that the Skystriker pricepoint/assortment/what-have-you was continuing, given that no vehicle of that size was solicited for the Retaliation line. If Retaliation was intended to have vehicles of that size in the line, they would have been shown off at the previous year's Toy Fair.
If Hasbro were intending on continuing the "Skystriker Size Assortment" they would've had a vehicle for it with the rest of the Retaliation offerings. It's unlikely that Hasbro is going to break out a new class of vehicle outside of a movie.
Maybe a slight chance they'd do it as an indirect tie in to the 50th overall anniversary of G.I. Joe, but that's still two years away. Then again, Hasbro has a tendency to celebrate their anniversaries a half-year or so early.
Once again though, I re-iterate my belief that the "new classic" vehicle will be something that fits into the vehicle assortments we've already seen for Retaliation.
Which leads me back to my two guesses: Either a simple tan repaint of the Ninja Combat Cruiser as a new "Vamp Mk II" or a newly-resculpted Devilfish in the smaller vehicle assortment.

Hydrofoil? MAYBE, but unlikely since Hasbro doesn't appear to be pushing stuff bigger than the $20 pricepoint as far as vehicles. If they do another big one, I'd say it has a better than average chance if some of the tooling is still viable.
MCC? Not a chance in hell, certainly not after the PiTT (The MCC reissue was $80 in 2003/4, how much do you think inflation is going to hit that?)

Like everyone else is saying I doubt Hasbro is going to take a chance with an expensive Joe vehicle for a while, even during a movie year. Joe took a massive hit this year. I doubt we'll even see anything in the Skystriker's price range for a several years, unless the movie line does extremely well next year. Heres hopeing they whip out the battlestations for a surprise next year like when ROC came out, and a real classic VAMP Mark II.
Hasbro could push out a bunch of lower price point items. Reissue the MMS again, either in the classic green or painted up to match what kind of looked like it in one of the trailers. ASP,Whirlwind, Outpost Defender, Snake Armor and Ferrets. They could repaint the crap out of those two. Python Patrol/Crimson Strike Team Ferrets and Snake Armor! but then of course they could paint a turd in Python Patrol colors and we'd buy them up like crazy. If we do get more than just the Night Landing I'll be surprised and it will pretty much have to be something they already have the mould for with very few or no new parts at all.

I'm thinking the Dragonfly is probably the smartest choice. First off, it's an iconic vehicle. Everyone here will by them like crazy if they're done well. There are at least 3 repaint possibilities that I can think of. Obviously there's the Tigerfly, which if they decided to do a Tiger Force JoeCon set, would fit nicely. They also have every other vehicle repainted for TF minus the Devilfish, so that would make some sense. Also, following their Transformers/Joe crossover SDCC exclusives, they could do a blue Autobot Whirl version, and lastly down the road they could do a tan Locust repaint. If Hasbro wanted to get their money's worth out of a mold, this would be a good choice. I'd take any of the vintage vehicles mentioned here though as long as it was done well.

I think some of that is because of the Echo class vehicle that was only mentioned once by a couple of retailers(kokomo was one I am pretty sure) then Hasbro came in and told them to remove the Echo reference....or something to that effect

Earlier last year there were people saying we wouldn't get a big vehicle while a few were openly stating a lack of surprise should a Sky Striker come(which later happened at Toy Fair).
Now given that, I highly highly doubt that Hasbro's G.I. Joe design team would be expressing excitement about a classic vehicle they were bringing back unless it was actually big. For years Hasbro was saying the Sky Striker would not be brought back then look what happened last year.
I am not expecting something like the FLAGG or Terrordrome. A WHALE to me, is not outside the realm of possibility, especially if a new mold based on the original has been tooled to break down into smaller/modular components to reduce retail footprint of the box on toy shelves, like what happened with the Sky Striker XP-21F.

that's what I think. Furthermore, why would they even mention it if it were another release of, say, the Armadillo or anything else we have had since the 25th line?

They would mention it because a classic vehicle is a classic vehicle regardless of size. Though I do think it will be something we haven't seen redone yet (IE not another AWE Striker or Armadillo), I just don't think it's going to be particularly "big" in terms of size.
Someone that was actually there can feel free to correct me, but the Hasbro reps never made any reference whatsoever to the size of the item when they dropped that tidbit.
Of course, by now the item could already be canceled or postponed. It sounds like it was something that was designed to drop after the initial movie rush. That might still hold, and if the movie toys don't sell well, it may never reach shelves. Especially if it's a pricepoint/size that's larger than what's currently on shelves.

I still think if we were going to see anything close to that big...Hasbro would have pushed it at Toy Fair.
I agree with Jmaq, Hasbro said something along the lines of a "major/big vintage update". They never said it was going to be physically big, IIRC.
Something like the STUN, or Devilfish or Slugger would all probably be considered "big vintage updates", but all could fit in the current price points Hasbro has set up.

The Cobra Stun with vintage colored Motor-Viper (using the recent the 2009 Nitro-Viper action figure from the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Steel Crusher A.P.V.) would certainly be a winner in my opinion.
People buying three or more of these to army build the Motor-Vipers would probably make this a successful set in sales numbers (at least among collectors; kids wouldn't know a thing about this vehicle or character, especially now that Hasbro abandoned filecards and advertising).

I think if they got creative they could squeeze a Dragonfly into the Bravo/HISS/Ninja Combat Cruiser assortment. Hasbro mentioned a Dragonfly being on the way a few years back, though there's some degree of question as to whether the "Dragonhawk XH-1" was supposed to be the "new Dragonfly" spoken of (And I still say if they had called that thing the "Locust Mk II" older fans would've probably loved it).

Exactly, Their earnings were low. They are not gonna put out a large vehicle (unless they already have one coming out for the movie if so and it doesnt do well like the night raven and the mobile pit then nevr again) till they see how they movie does . If the movies does crap end of joe as we know it in stores.

Probably not. I wouldn't expect a playset from them anytime soon.

ToyFair 2012? That was movie stuff, IIRC. I think the idea was that the movie figures would come out, give Joe a nice presence at retail and allow for some collector-oriented stuff like the big classic (first mentioned at JoeCon this past summer, right?). I think we'll know better at Toy Fair 2013.
As for what it is, I continually come back to the Dragonfly. Props to whoever it was that first mentioned it in this thread.

I doubt the design team would make a big deal out of something unless it was something they knew we would be excited about. Devilfish, yeah I can see people wanting that but I don't think there would be that much hype on the part of the design team for that. If anything it would be expected since it seemed like it was planned then canned for ROC.
I still think we will see a big vehicle, like the WHALE or something. If not that, something closer in size.

I'd like to see them make a new APC, but I think they may have to redo too much for it to be feasible. They'd need to remold all the seats (including driver and shotgun) pegs in the aisle, and I think they might have to redo both top parts for the modern figures to fit.
I'd most like to see the WHALE, then maybe the Cobra Hydrofoil the next year. Otherwise I'd really like an update for the ASP, which they could package with the Stinger since that was under-produced at the end of the 25th anniversary vehicle line.

poc hiss tank repainted as the septic tank
a new toxo-lab or a remolded toxo-lab

Tomahawk,Mauler,Stun,Whale,A.S.P or Dragonfly would be my top picks for modern updates. These are all iconic vehicles that people would buy. If it's a smaller vehicle in size. The Devilfish would be a good call as would the A.S.P. The Slugger tank is small enough and would also make a good update. Either that or they drop a version one Vamp mk 2 on us.

I hated Eco-Warriors back in the 90's and nothing has changed. In one way it would be good because I'd save money. I think Tiger Force is the next convention set. Easy repaints and all the tooling is in place. Same thing with most of the vehicles.

Cespool was the only figure I really liked. If you like them that's great. I just don't see them doing these figures as it would require massive new tooling. We know the Club loves repaints. No, but the thing is, whatever molds Hasbro got back from China in 2004 were never publicly revealed. The Hurricane is destroyed, was going to be an exclusive for JoeCon 2010 or 11 but the mold broke. There are a few molds which were returned to the US and found to be in working condition. SNAKE Armor, Cobra Jetpack, et al, however noone knew until they were re-released in the ROC line(and protos for the SNAKE Armor showed up late for the 25th).
maybe. i can't say they were all destroyed no one has confirmed that. but i thought that the skystriker was reversed engineered.
Sky Striker, Sting Raider(Moccassin) and Ghost HAWK are all new molds based on the original tooling but with modern construction. So they didn't use the original steel tools/molds but are new tools based on them, if that makes any sense.
Good rule of thumb is to handle a vintage vehicle, think of how sturdy it is compared to the new Sky Striker. If it isn't, if Hasbro ever brings it back, it will likely be new tools based on the originals. Like the Dragonfly, the last release(2000) was pretty sturdy but I can see Hasbro redoing it just to be safe.

The big issue with the Dragonfly is that the cockpit is too small for some ARAH figures, much less the vastly increased modern figure size. To maintain the original toy's dimensions, I strongly suspect the second pilot seat would have to be tooled out like they did with the Skystriker.

If they're hyping up something big, I expect it'd be either the Killer WHALE or Tomahawk.
In terms of vehicles, these two, along with the Skystriker, seem like the "big three" of the Sunbow days...
The Mauler would probably be a somewhat distant third, and could use an update. It'd be great to see a somewhat bigger version that had a turret with actual working hatches...

My simple requests for a vintage vehicle revamp into 25th Anniversary-ish mold is: the Cobra ASP! The Cobra ASP still kicks ass to this day as far as its looks and functionationality! Hasbro if you re-release this vehicle; don't change the blue color or anything! - The modern Cobra ASP would go great with the Pursuit of Cobra/30th Anniversary Cobra Trooper! I would buy an ass ton of these modern Cobra ASPs! What other vehicles could use a modern revamp?
1. The Cobra Moray (..just so I don't have to pay the ridiculus Ebay prices for the vintage one; another great looking vehicle to this day)
2. The Killer Whale (..Hasbro couldn't go wrong with this one; this vehicle would fly off the shelf if this vehicle was re-released along with the modern Cobra Moray)
3. The Silver Mirage (..keep the same colors as the original; another classic Gi Joe vehicle that you can't go wrong with Hasbro)
4. A new U.S.S Flagg (..Yeah I know wishful thinking)
5. the Night Raven (..Ah hell yeah)
6. a new Mauler Tank (..but a little bigger)
7. a new Bridgelayer (..but bigger of course)
8. a new Wolverine (..but a little bigger; and with a " Sunbow cartoon accurate Covergirl please)
This is a good thread topic! It looks like Hasbro will continue on with the success of the 25th Anniversary line by giving us more vehicles from the Sunbow era (..if they could only give us more characters made into action figures from this era too)!

I'd like to see the WHALE redone, but they have to fix the propellors. The vintage one was far too fragile, especially how they attached to the main body.
If TRU's True Heroes imports the Chap Mei Osprey, I would have no need for an updated Tomahawk. However, an update Tomahawk that can have modern-size Joes standing in it, ala the Star Wars Gunships, would be rather fantastic. And quite a bit larger than the vintage one.
I wouldn't mind them redoing the APC but giving it a hard/armored top. Something akin to a LAV or Stryker. Give it a few different types of weapons to mount on top too. It would be a classic vehicle but literally updated and improved upon.
In fact, I'd rather they actually update and tweak the classic designs a bit instead of keeping them the same. I know this is a little outside of this thread's intent, but it is my preference.
The big issue with the Dragonfly is that the cockpit is too small for some ARAH figures, much less the vastly increased modern figure size. To maintain the original toy's dimensions, I strongly suspect the second pilot seat would have to be tooled out like they did with the Skystriker.
This is what I think too. I don't see how there's a way to fit it without significant changes to it's cockpit dimensions. For this reason, I Hope Hasbro leaves the Dragonfly to the customizers and their PTE Apaches. You can recreate the F-14 as a one-seater with some plausibility given there are many modern fighter/attack jets that seat just a pilot, but I cannot think of any attack helicopter besides the Ka-50 that lacks a weapons officer/navigator.
Also, I just want to see more vehicles that can seat multiple figures.
If TRU's True Heroes imports the Chap Mei Osprey, I would have no need for an updated Tomahawk.
I'm not happy with how that Osprey looks. It's a goofy combination of GI Joe and Fisher Price.
