I picked up Storm Shadow from a comic shop not knowing it was a big deal. I thought it was alright, but lacked... Something. Yeah, he has a lot of crap, but I wasn't impressed by it, nor did I care for the classic look configuration. I didn't understand when I read on the tank hoe much people loved it. I thought the 30th Trooper was far better. I don't think its a bad figure, but it lacks the strength of the 25th outings.

Pursuit of Cobra Snake Eyes? Now that's awesome. Good gear, looks strong, great update to v1 and a decent mash up of 1 and 2. I am more of an SS fan, but wow, SE blew me away. I just loved everything about him, but that said, he is my only PoC figure, and I understand the whole line was great.

I think the main draw in was the fact he had awesome accessories, those new hand sculpts and it was an update to his 25th. I'm bummed they stopped with Renegades. I really liked it. I liked the new animation and story and I loved how the figures were coming along. I really would've liked to get a Roadblock, Zartan, Destro, Baroness, Serpentor and Flint from the Renegades series.

I agree with the OP. I was underwhelmed when I opened him up too. The only accessories that look right in his hands are the little hand-held spiked things (don't know the names... I'm not a ninja guy).

The initial hype for it died down cause it has been a couple of months now plus that mold is going to be used like 5 more times. other than it not being able to hold the swords too well. still a great figure.

in other news, You just reminded me that i never open that snake eyes yet.

I don't like SS, so any SE is better IMO.

I had the same reaction when I ignorantly opened it before all of the hype. Yes it has an excellent sculpt, detail, articulation, and plethora of accessories but I wasn't head over heels for it UNTIL rereading the hama/marvel series again. This is the version used in issue 21.."Silent Interlude!"

Snake Eyes on the other hand is a bad mother but he is not an update to v1. to me. I'd say more like an DDP America's Elite version with (Retaliation-ninja dojo) Beach Head's web gear.

It's called a Kunai, it's an unsharpened tool used for digging, climbing and is most commonly used to punch holes through walls.
Unless of course you're talking about the Sai.

On topic:I like the SS and would love to pick one up for myself, but I will say I do have minor nitpicks about it from what I've handled of it.

I would have preferred a different paint job and a fully unmasked head, but since they put it into the Renegades line I suppose that was unavoidable. The hands could have been closed a bit more to allow him to hold his sword better while still keeping their function with the Sai. That being said, I do like the figure far more than any of the POC versions, mainly because Ren SS comes with gear I associate with the character like the Bow and a pair of nunchaku .

Plus I must admit while I don't care much for some of the accessories like the fan, I do love the poison dart.

I am in the camp of those that believe the hype following ren ss. He's definitely my favorite ss.

But the jungle and desert snake eyes with the wolf, those are on a higher level.

Different strokes I suppose. I one of the guys that thinks the renegade SS is one of THE BEST figures made since the 2007. He's fantastic.

He is.

And don't understand the point of this thread (if there is any). Renegades Storm Shadow is the ultimate "traditional" ninja figure. I guess the people here expected it to walk by itself or something...

I was typing it on my phone, so I guess I should elaborate.

This is the Storm Shadow from 2009's 5 pack, a repaint of the first 25th Storm Shadow.

Very masculine, striking outline, looks like a strong man. He has enough accessories to be interesting, all of which he can use easily. Is it perfect? No. But it's a nice looking figure.

That is both configurations for Renegades/30th Storm Shadow.

Renegades form looks good. Very much representative of the cartoon, may even arguably work better, pity the hands are so gimmicky, being made for the accessories not true functionality.

The classic look? I don't think it works. He's too thin to let the black sash work, the head isn't that great, I found the head to be rather 'Generic Ninja' and not Storm Shadow.

Then we have the accessories. Far too much, and a bulk are easily lost. Swords, backpack, arrow, nunchuck, bow, maybe fan, sure. Sai? Ok. But the Kunai, thowing stars, claws and the damn darts? What was the point of it? I would understand it in a 12' toy, they'd be of a reasonable size or could service some gimmick, but a child's 3 3/4? Never needed to be in there. A travel cape or something like the comic pack one had with a Ninjato for his lower back(Think Power Rangers Samurai Gold's Barracuda Blade). How about a proper chain and sickle? He hasn't had a true kusarigama to my knowledge, just sickles with another sickle and a short cord.

I should state this, I do not think this is a bad figure, I just don't think it's on the level of SEv54 and I don't get why it gets comparative hype. Honestly, I liked Ren Scarlett, Tunnel Rat and even Ripcord more. I thought he was on the level of Ren Snake Eyes, alright, but not great.

Now let's talk about SE

http://www.yojoe.com/action/11/agu/snakeeyes54.jpg

Duel swords, can have both, or choose what place you want it. Another sword, different this time. Two hand guns, one of which can take a suppressor, two of which are included. A SMG, which can use the other suppressor. A rifle. An alternate head to bring more of the 85 look and less of the 82. Two knives, one for the calf, one for the shoulder. And removable webgear.

Unlike SS, I don't think any of the accessories are useless. I think he strikes a better figure. I think he looks stronger. I think he has far more play value.

I was very dubious when I bought this one online, I didn't and don't think SS was worth the raving, but I wanted a SE that looked like V1 and I was rather tired of the 25th mold. I'm not a big SE fan, but this simply blew me away. It became one of my favorites, easily. I didn't think there was any comparison.
