Love for the Night Landing Craft?

I know that Hasbro is taking a lot of flack for showing us the goods then saying we ain't getting the goods, but I have to say that I loved the Night Landing Craft. It was a pleasant surprise because (1) it's a vehicle (2) it's affordable enough to buy multiples of and (3) the box with all the weapons is a cool accessory. This came out of left field, but it was one of my favorite things in the whole show. I can't wait to get some troops sneaking up to the Tactical Battle Station to set up explosives. Now if they could only make a new Cobra Stun......

I was excited enough just to get a Cobra Eel, but adding in the Landing Craft with a crate of Guns for only three dollars more than the MSRP of a single figure? Shut up and take my money Hasbro!

For a while I was wondering if Ret would have reissues of classic sets in much the same way ROC did, I'm glad to see that we're getting this. Perhaps we shall get even more reissues? I can only hope.

Just to clarify:
Hasbro never said that the concept figures were NEVER EVAR going to get made, just they aren't on the current, Retaliation-centric, plan for the line.

But I love seeing the Night Landing, and more than just a cool offering with all the gear (and an articulated figure), is the POTENTIAL it represents:
Remember all those Target exclusive deluxe figures?

We could be getting stuff like that the Alpha vehicle assortment. Which makes me quite excited.

I'm definitely down for a couple of these once they hit shelves. The figure looks more Torpedo than EEL to me, and I hope they leave him as-is so he can sub as "ultimate Scuba Torpedo." I've got a good "squad" of 25th EELs (plus the RoC version as an officer) to man them.

Honestly, I thought the Landing Craft was the highlight of the new product reveals. I plan on getting at least a couple and selling off the figure. The NLC has always been a small but cool vehicle. But that insane weapons crate just takes it over the top. I love it.

Thats the set that I have. To be honest, the raft is pretty unimpressive. But it'll be worth the cost for that figure (I kind of expect him to have a bit of red on him to make him more Eel-ish), and that crate of guns. But I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they cut down on the amount of guns in it.

1) A classic ARAH vehicle
2) A ton of weapons
3) A super cool Cobra crate
4) A figure that would make a great generic diver that could serve multiple roles

All in all a great set. Total win.

the only thing sweeter would have been if they packaged it with that ultimate Firefly...the old NLC art was arguably one of my favorites...Firefly ghosting in on a target in the NLC, it just had such narrative for a still image.

Not a big fan of the boat, but I like the figure. I'm surprised that this the only new vehicle mentioned for 2013.

Bear in mind the Ripsaw and Ninja Combat Cruiser will be "new for 2013" now. So that's three "new" vehicles for 2013 so far.

Hasbro also implied they had quite a bit more they COULD have shown if their corporate overlords hadn't said "No, because of the delay you have to wait until Toy Fair 2013 now."

Oh, and they did say a new "classic vehicle" will be at Toy Fair. I'd imagine a simple tan repaint of the Ninja Combat Cruiser for a Vamp Mk. II, but I suppose we'll see.

I was drooling over the NLC after first seeing it in Saturdays pics. It is vintage goodness made better- a rare and unusual thing.
The Eel may just need a head swap (not sure what's under the scuba mask) to make him into Ultimate Torpedo. The scuba gear is awesome but, yes, it is the figure and the weapons set which really take this set over the top.
I will buy multiples of it. The Cobras will get a few, my POC Joes will get one for their 'special missions' and I will have several which I will repaint- some orange and some yellow for my Joes to use with the Flagg.

But that's like saying the AWE Striker doesn't make for a good vehicle because it doesn't hold as many people as an APC. If you don't like the Night Landing, that's fine, but it just seems kind of silly to me to knock it because it is has a completely different purpose from what you want.
