Suppose some malevolent force (like an evil geenie or something) gave you an ultimatum and you had to choose between your girl (wife or girlfriend) or your collection of toys. the other would be removed from your life forever, not killed or destroyed or anything. the girl leaves and finds happiness somewhere, the toys get sold and you get the cash but can never buy a toy collection again?

Despite how shallow and low choosing plastic over a Human being is, one option is more permanent than the other.

I cannot truly give a definitive answer as I'm not guaranteed the relationship will continue and I would not sink so low as to choose inanimate objects, regardless of how much I care about the hobby.

ive got to emphasize its gotta be YOUR collection and YOUR girl. no imaginary girls or collections. so it is not only a reflection of what kind of a collection you have but also about what kind of girl you've managed to snag and possibly what level of comitment towards a family you have built in your time with her.

If you're a married man and you seriously have to think about the answer to this then you have no idea what you are in for. Start with the massive heartbreak and emotional turmoil that your life will be going through. All of a sudden you lose everything that's familiar to you. Your bed, your house, your whole routine in life gone.

Next if you have kids think about just seeing or having your kids (if your lucky) only about half the time. Your heartbreak as your kids want to spend more time with you but you can't because it's your ex's time with them. Waking up Christmas day alone because this year they get to spend Christmas with their mom.

Then there is the division of property. Who's to say that your spouse will not be a bitch and demand that since most of your collection was purchased during your marriage and the money used was from a joint account, that she asks the court for you to sell your collection and you guys split the profits.

So if I were you before I am so gung-ho about choosing little plastic men over your spouse, I'd recommend you read about what happens when you get a divorce. Especially if you have kids.

Question of selling comes up when I'm outve work or womenless. But I dont drink booze or spend money on whores so all that I have is my hobbies of toy collecting and building military models. My collection of vintage and new style must be like $8,000-10,000 but I'll end up just saving if I can get it for that price or a bit more as the economy and finding a good job is not all that great.

I guess though I'd opt to keep my girlfriend/wife option as it is more realistic and practical than toys. After my father passed away I ended up storing all his model railroad and cowboys and Indians figurines..sad thing is you cant take this stuff with us to the here after and whoever survives you is left with either store it outve memory or try and sell it and either option has own conscious issues and pros and cons.

Just wanted to had one more thing the question is misleading. Those that have toys at home and are married or have a gf will most likely never face such situation because the person next to you knows you and understands you.

This question only makes sense if its a new girlfriend or if something happens in your life and you have to choose between toys or your wife.

For the first choose your toys, its your hobby she just has to respect it as you have to respect her tastes. For the second your wife or long time companion of course, but here it is all due to an indirect event unless your wife wakes up one day with her ideas all wrong :D
