Am I wrong in thinking that Hasbro is now going back once again on their word and not producing Kwinn? Anyone else notice this?

I wondered that myself. I wonder if that is a slightly different sculpt or something. But either way, it doesn't look like a positive development.

Because they would rather give us stupid zombie vipers and more dukes instead of kwinn and data viper

Hard to say.
Some of the figure in the concept case either had figures made with cut back accessories or slight changes such as Ren. Scarlett and Ret. Joe trooper. Or parts of them used elsewhere.
I think the biggest problem is figuring out what the hell to use Kwinn's lower half for. When you make a new figure mold you want to get a good use out of of it without it being detracting when used on other figures. Case in point the Shock trooper and w3 Snake-eyes parts being use on almost everything. The big problem is Kwinn is clearly a tall figure and is wearing shorts. So what in a hell do you use that on? Anything you apply it to no matter that paint job, will be very tall and wearing shorts. It's not a versatile as knee padded legs with gun holster.

I think, Kwinn will be released sometime 2013.
However, I have no need for an Eskimo in shorts and will pass on him.

That micro collection isn't getting any of my hard earned cash. I think it's a bad move and waste of plastic.

Yeah but these might be good overall for the Joe line since they might get kids into Joe more.

Well I'm pretty sure they will get him out, one way or another. As far as the micro collection, I love it. More importantly, these could be pretty popular with kids. The squishes are popular as hell and these are much more impressive. We must not forget that hasbro is trying to attract the kids. They aren't for everyone, but they are pretty cool.

Yes I agee , but if they make a game to go with them they may be able to tap in to another market.

This. While I would love to see more 1:18 figures, I don't mind the line doing stuff like this to draw in the younger set. Let's face it, no matter how many tantrums we throw on message boards, without keeping the kids on board GI Joe isn't going anywhere.

I am about sick in tired of 5 different Snake eyes, Storm Shadows, Dukes and Cobra Commanders every time a New Movie, series , or wave comes out. I understand 1 run by come on. We want New and different figure, and vehicles. What happened to the creativness this line had in the 80's.

The mentality of the toy industry changed.
If you look, every action figure line that's out there follows the "core character" mentality now. Even lines that start out looking like they're not going to eventually fall into that pattern (DC Universe Classics, for example).
The idea behind it is that any given day a kid could walk into a store and get themself the "core characters" to start his or her collection. If they didn't frequently refresh those main characters then that wouldn't be possible. Yes, we who have been collecting for decades would like it more, but the kids might not be able to get the "main characters" and in turn that might mean they don't start collecting at all.
Heck, even the ARAH line eventually realized they needed to start redoing the biggest/most popular characters every so often, because otherwise the way the line operated back then, if you didn't get Duke in '83 or '84 you'd have been out of luck! There weren't any "refresher cases" or anything like that back then and generally once a figure had had it's 1-2 year run...that was it!
So it's not necessarily a bad thing (from a market perspective) when you see a Duke or a Snake-Eyes or a Storm-Shadow or a Cobra Commander sitting on pegs. That's kinda what Hasbro and the retailers want.

I think Hasbro is trying to work up the Internet fan base so that when they do eventually release Kwinn we'll be so happy with them that we'll totally forget any of their recent indiscretions and openly discuss how awesome we think they are...

Why can't they just make cross country and label him duke. Really I'd be cool with that just make all the old guys but name them SS SE duke and CC. If they are for a movie line put in a "disguise head". Keep the stupid retail buyers happy and get out some new designs

SDCC 2013 Exclusive. And he will be $400 outta the box and over $1000 on ebay the moment the first person buys him...it is inevitable

I like this idea. Kind of like the DG Duke that clearly looked more like a Grunt/Greenshirt.

We know Hasbro committed the resources to making Kwinn's tooling (including stuff liike his shorts which aren't easily usable on other figures), so his release is inevitable.
Just a matter of when or how, but as of RIGHT NOW, he isn't slated for a retail release. Barring an appearance at SDCC 2013, I wouldn't expect him before 2014.

I think they'll fit him into one of the Retaliation waves that are being finalized.
I think I read something over the weekend about waves still being finalized and the Internet community being encouraged to talk up the figures from the Concept Vault we wanted most so a lot of what we saw may end up released at retail. At least, that's what I think.

Yeah, that's what I think too. I think a lot of the figures from the Concept Vault will see the light of day, which is fine with me because I want all of them.

any word about other DG Joes?
Damn LL! Be patient, let's get the first set (+ the variants) to the collectors first.
The way these thing are selling I am fairly confident we'll get another round of DG joes next year.
