Flint was the best of the bunch, but he wasn't spectacular. Jaye looked horrible. Eels were good, but there wasn't much of an upgrade there justifying a new release. Barbecue is an improvement, but still looks bulky. Beachhead is an improvement, but not much of one.

Who else was there? A few vipers?

I'd say out of all of those, the Flint would be the only worth having.

How about a March Madness type series of polls.

The whole process could be repeated numerous times, and we could get an average score or ranking for each figure.

I haven't thought too long about this, so there might be a much better way. I just saw someone mention a March Madness scenario in another thread. I think it was Xenos, in fact.

I've been wanting a Flint and Jaye since POC started and Kwinn is just awesome. My only nitpick with Kwinn is that his .30 cal MG is actually a .50 from a Roadblock figure, and the seal hook is a little out of place with his Jungle look. But those are minor things I can get over.

I wouldn't mind getting the Snow Serpent either since I love Snow based characters, and the fur jackets always look neat.

Here's my opinion on them:

Law - I prefer these legs, and I wouldn't mind if they changed him into another character to re-release.

Stinger Driver - Good update. I would happily grab a few for my motorpool.

Steel Brigade Delta - maany are clammoring for a Single card, but I don't see the need.

Shock Trooper - looks identical to what we got. Don't need.

Kwinn - WHEN IS HE COMING!?!?!

Lady Jaye - a good update of the character. Not sure if we need, but I'd pick her up if released.

Hit and Run - At least I think that's who it is. Definitely a massive improvement on the one we got. Would love to see him if they could include the duffel bag with climbing gear.

Shipwreck - i hate that head. And the figure design does nothing for me. Don't see the need for it.

Beach Head - finally the perfect update for him. Would love to get him.

Shadow Crimson Guard - not my thing. I don't like the new design.

Cobra Officer - well, I DO need one for my squad. So sure.

BBQ - not a significant improvement on the one we have. I think we're good without.

EEL - not a significant improvement on the one we have. I think we're good without.

HEAT Viper - this should be a high priority for release. Only missing the missile attachment sites, but I think we can all deal with that.

Laser Viper - needs his classic backpack, but otherwise a great update that should be released.

Tan Joe Trooper - easy pass

Rocky?? - (or whoever it is with the boxing gloves) - nice tribute. Not a real priority IMHO.

Sparks?? Grunt?? - whoever the O13 looking guy is. Its a nice headsculpt, and better update than the 25th version, so I say ok, but low priority.

Black and Tan Cobra?? - um...who is this? looks okay....but nothing special. Pass.

Articulated Swamp Viper - Yes please. New characters always welcome.

SNow Serpent - Not a significant improvement on what we have. Though I do like the coat. Pass.

Gold Headed Steel Brigade - I think we all have enough Steel Brigades, but perhaps as a limited run.

Crimson Guard Imortal - Great frankenjoe!!! Should be released ASAP.

Televiper - Finally, a version of him that looks like it should. ASAP.

Clutch?? - the bearded guy looks cool whoever he is.

Skull Mask guy - cool. I don't see why not. New characters always welcome.

Updated Zartan - Not a necessary, but cool, figure.

Steel Brigade V3 - thanks. we're good.

Data Viper - This needs to come out soon.

I’m not getting too down about it, I’m confident we’ll see many of the less odd figures we saw. Maybe not so much the Steel Brigade Delta repaints or Dreadnok Trooper or Gold Ninja. But 30th Cobra Commander? We’ll probably see a helmeted, hooded, black uniform, jungle camo and bionic weapon-swappable arm version of that sculpt!

Besides, now that these figures have been shown, we can hound and harass Hasbro for years to come with a very very specific set of demands.

Yeah, single cards with some nice 30th Sci-Fi or Viper type art would be my ultimate hope as well. I was thinking along the lines of the 25th DOCI 7 pack, but after seeing such figures as the Alley Viper and Rock Viper released single carded in POC and 30th, I guess there's a real hope for a HEAT or Laser Viper single card release, after all.

Now, I could definitely see Cobra Commander getting both the pack and single card treatment. Helmeted and hooded versions, at least.

Now I know these are historic and/or international figures which many don't give a flip about and the others are from the original Joe Movie but I think they are relevant figures and they need to finally be included in this post POC/30th universe.

The Zombie pack was interesting for sure but zombies seem to be a passing fad. Where as Ninjas have always been a big role in GI JOE since its beginning in the 1980s.

Although I do like the ghost ninja henchmen, I have to agree with this. Ninja force/ battle corps/ star brigade lines almost made me want to stop collecting back in the early 90's. Don't turn the gi joe line into Zombie force/ Ninja zombies.

If the Has is serious about actually producing some of these, then I'll take back most of the unpleasant stuff I said about them. While I agree that GI Joe is first and foremost a military line, the inclusion of some fantasy elements and the highly welcome addition of a ninja sub-set of characters really adds a spark to the whole presentation.

Since one of the truly awesome aspects of the presentation was that it was a mix of sci-fi, military, classic figs (I so want to get my hands on that updated Lady Jaye....) and the Ninja-thang (Skull-faced Nija with rice-paddy hat? Coool!!!!!) the result for the fans should be the same. A bit of everything. I think maybe six or so figures failed to elicit any response from me, and that was because they really didn't add anything to anybody's collection.

The one thing that I would hate to see happen, however, is the dreaded box-set approach. A seven figure box set means a minimum $49.99 price tag, putting them out of casual reach.

Of course, I MIGHT be willing to bend if that box set were truly special, like say... I dunno... a Zombie box set of six or seven figures just in time for everyone's year-end holiday....

Once again, if the Has is serious about giving us options, then it shows they have some real creative juices going on. But if they are simply saying "We have some guys who like to play around and this is what they came up with" and we will never see any of this on the shelves, then I think most of us have already had our say on that thought. Too damn much good stuff to not see the light of day.

I am starting to get the feeling that this may actually be the Has's way of making up to the fans for the clumsy handling of their product line by Paramount. since it's pretty much a given that Hasbro never said "Jon, we love what you are doing, the fans love what you are doing, let's knock the pegs out form under everybody and re-tool the film last minute and risk all the merchandising by pissing off the base...." it's reasonable to assume that they are looking to regain the good-will of the core, and do the equivalent of a second "Toy Fair" for a line of figures not dependant upon the movie or release.

Since these figs appear to be fully formed, there's a real possibility that molds of many of them are already either being made up or prepared to move forward. It's quite possible they will be able to pull out a late fall release in some fashion or another, perhaps a limited one, but still better than nothing... and this may well be the way they are doing it.

I'm hoping.

Hasbro, you want to hear my voice? You have the talent and the infrastructure. You are apparently NOT starting form scratch.... just take a deep breath, pick about fifteen of these guys (and the lady...) and just go with it. Well support you. It's Paramount that really has our ire, not you.

But seriously, dude... get some more ladies in the line. GD sausage-fest if you ask me.

It seems to me that hasbro is afraid of taking risks, they sent out the renegades and 30th anniversary lines and got terrific reception. But now instead of making new figures with new characters they scrapped all of them ans started just repainting what they had. Normally this would be fine but not when they are neglecting characters like Zartan, Cobra officer(who are we supposed to have lead our cobra squads?), Hit & run, shipwreck, and not to mention the zombie line. I think if hasbro went back and decided to release a subline with zombies and "Echo Faction" troops they would find that just about all of the true joe fans would jump on the opportunity.

First point of order:
at the panel Hasbro specifically stated dont ask for all of them because you won't get them all. John Warden said he wanted them all too but it just is not realistic.

This is pretty much the truth. Zombies, Ninjas, Renegades, Whatever....there's very little of it that I wouldn't buy if it hit shelves.

While I'd prefer Hasbro take the Plague Customs from the customizing class and turn those around into a Plague 7-pack (Maybe vs. a "Joe Trooper" 7-pack of Raven Wing, NOMAD, Steel Brigade v 1 and v 2, Echo Faction Trooper, Gold-Head Steel Brigade, and a modified/modernized "Green Shirt?"), of the material in the "concept" case it'd be so easy for them to just make (Dum DUUM!) "Zombies vs. Ninjas" as the theme of their next 7-packs:

Zombies: Cobra Commander (w/ alternate "normal" head), "Ninja" Zombie (maybe paint it red), Steel Brigade Zombie, Cobra Trooper Zombie, Cobra Viper Zombie, Shock Trooper Zombie, and Zombie-Viper (repack/repaint).

Ninjas: Beast Ninja, Snake Ninja, Ghost Ninja Henchman, Golden Ninja Assassin, Ninja Monk, Dark Ninja Master, and Renegades/30th Storm Shadow (repack).

It'd be a nice "show" that the concept vault isn't necessarily a death sentence for a figure, be an easy, low-cost pack for Hasbro to make (since most figures are kitbashes or repaints), and have good troop-building potential.

Please make the Heat Viper, Laser Viper, Flint, Lady Jaye, Televiper, Raven's Wing, Data Viper, and QWINN. They will fly off the shelves if you do....even at $10 apiece (ahem, as long as the packaging is at least half way decent, unlike the Retaliation line).

All I need for joe's are Flint, lady jaye, barbeque, Hit & run. Cobra's would be Cobra officer, tele viper, heat viper, Zartan. But I have a feeling that after the Retaliation line in late '13 or early '14 we will see some of these. Think about it what else are they gonna put out?

Loved most of them. The Flint one was nearLy perfect. I wish they would of made his sleeves rolled up to his biceps and his pants a darker brown. Lady Jaye looked great too. Those are the two from the concepts I'm most excited for.

And that is it. I wanted to say Hit & Run, but after looking at him again, it's another piss-poor attempt at the figure. Just horrible camo on him. Everything was just repainted parts that we already have. The Echo figure is just the DG Shipwreck variant with Snake Eyes' gear.
