I don't know if this is the right place if not move it. I just want to get some stuff on my mind out in to the open.
Hasbro as a Joe-fan I just want to say Thanks. over the course of the last three years the Joe line has taken it's hits but you guys kept it going and not limping but showing how awesome, toys could be. POC and 30th Lines were the best things on shelves and some of my all time favorites. the Sky-Striker after years of telling us it couldn't be done. you guys Re-engineer a 28 year old toy in to one of the best vehicles to grace store shelves, I can't look at mine with out wondering how much time it took to figure out how to piece it together. I'm not even a fan of the old one and I'm in love with this thing.
Thanks for the Drednok and the Marauder Sets giving us nine new characters a much needed redo of a figure from the 25th line and some great repaints and kit-bashes. I would love to see more Seven packs like this down the line. while the Retaliation line didn't make it passed it's first wave for the time being the figures I own are great the Three packs are just as great as the 30th line and I have to say the Red Ninja are fun and I have to say the Joe Trooper might be my favorite Army Builder put out yet and after POC and the 30th that is saying something.
While this year has been rough on Joe fans I know it's been rougher on you guys from the lay offs at the Start of the year to the last minute Release date change of G.I. Joe Retaliation. it's easy to be discouraged and say that Hasbro doesn't care about the fans but I think your past record shows otherwise. and while it does hurt to think what might have been, I can't help but think you got something better for us waiting. that we will forget about two weeks after it's released. :P
in short. it's been a rocky three years but thanks for everything you've done and I'm sure 2013 will be better for everyone.
For me I don't get into the new stuff that much knowing how far away it is or that it may never hit retail(Canadians know what I'm talking about).
I was blown away at these pics !
The concept series's........when ? where ? how ?...holy cow !
Ninjas, zombies, zombie ninjas, I'm sold !
Probably never going to see these but it was pure bliss seeing the pics, thank you.

I'm not saying thanks.
Yes, there has been a lot of great stuff.
But the barnd is being managed horribly. Horribly!
And is not a service they do, is business. We pay for their product, so no thanks.
They might say "it's the retailers that decide what's in or out", but damn, it's Hasbro who puts out the stuff to begin with.
If you show a retalier a giant sized gimmick with a ugly figure, and a detailed action figure, a retailer will pick the gimmick: most likely, for the retailer, a toy means brights colors that sell to kids.
Well, not always, and certainly not here.
So, instead of showing a gimmick witha fugly figure, show them two cool action figures. Just like we collectors adapt to changes, retailers will do.
So, retailers didn't wanted the Data Viper, but they did picked the Duke?
Simple thing: don't do another fuc***g Duke. It will not rot in the pegs, like it does every-single-time.
The only "thanks" might be to whoever designs stuff with collectors on mind, because he's aiming at certain level, doing something specific because he knows we'll like it or recognize.
And that's all.

I would still say thanks to Hasbro for their efforts. Whether we bought GIJoe products in retail or secondary market, I know they got paid for their work.
I just hope that having their Joe products on clearance or closeout stores won't demotivate them in giving us top quality Joe figures, vehicles and future playsets. No hard feelings though, business is business.

I enjoy seeing something new, I love seeing amazing, creative things...but it's hard seeing it and knowing what we are missing. It's disappointing.
Here we are talking about it and would willingly spend, but it's like we're talking in a void.
I'll still buy what I like out of what they put out...but feeding me scraps when all the good stuff is still on the table...I'm/we're tired of that!

Really? for what? giving us some of the best figures made at the 4in scale. I'm not saying I agree with all that Hasbro has done but they have gave fans what they wanted in the past and that we tend to forget that after we get it in our hands.

I'd say that now we have seen some figures that has high demand and because of this, we, the fans shouldn't say that the whole line is crap and so on. They actually do care what we want and they are trying hard to create such cool toys. Another thing is that they have to consider what to release and the schedule of the whole process.
I think some of these prototypes will be produced someday, in some other form. It's good to know the the brand hasn't been abandoned.

When I first saw the thread title I thought it was sarcasm, then I also remembered another thread start out as nice as this and then follow with actual good comments. Though after the joecon pictures I can say that whining and negativity will follow.
I love those ninja force figures, oh wait, we don't get those. More Zombies!!! Nope. Off the wall joe designs including Jason Vorhees using shadow trackers mask!!! can I get those too?! NO!!
Other 30th figures including a Flint and Lady Jaye, NO!!!! Other Renegades figures that will never see the light of day plus several vehicles!!!!!!!!! How many times do I have to tell you no No nO NO NO NO !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Hasbro for creating more whining among the fans that spend a ton of money while keeping the brand alive somewhat.

I have always been grateful for all Joe is and has done for me...
and especially thank you for keeping Joe a kids brand, something my boys can play with and enjoy. As an older fan and collector I love what I see, I can always buy Walking Dead figures if I want more zombies and gore. I can customize other things I want using your iconic figures, but keep Joe where it belongs, in the hands of kids.

You're all a bunch of fucking idiots.
Hasbro doesn't owe you SHIT. But the GI JOE design team gives you the best 4" figures on the market--bar none. Better than MU, Star Wars, anything by Mattel. The worst GI Joe figure is pretty fucking awesome.
You should be happy that they give a shit about you and cater to you at all. That don't have to, but they do. The line could absolutely survive if they turned the focus 100% to kids. But they threw us Lifeline, Sci-Fi and Airtight because they care.
Make your voice heard but do it in a way that is constructive and they might listen. Stop crying and complaining and point out what you DO like. Hasbro reads these forums. For every good, constructive comment, there's 9 "HASBLOWS!" which is what they see and it turns them off.

Yeah uh huh. It's like being with a chick, I mean a smoking hot chick (take your pick) and then having her make out with you until the point she is completely naked and right when you are about to stick it in she says ........... "Baby, I know you like where this was going but it stops here. Sorry this was just a preview of what could have been, then she proceeds to leave you by yourself in some motel room holding your dick out."
Now to me there is nothing blissful about that. Hell, I have read headlines of lives being ended for such atrocities!
Now I am thankful for the line's survival and revival up to this point but after the movie and then seeing these "what if" cases, it just adds salt to the open wounds many JOE heads already have. And I know the above scenario is just silly, and it's meant to be, just as silly as some of Hasbro's marketing team's decisions. I HATE MARKETING TEAMS!!!! I mean yeah sure, at the end of the day it's a hobby and there are plenty of other hobbies out there, but damn man. Don't dangle a carrot in front of my face if I don't have anywhere to run to to acquire more of them!

it's been changed for this:
http://www.hisstank.com/database/attach/1/Swap-Viper-001_1339616914.jpg
(funny thing, the picture is named "swap viper")
...which is actually -with the previous head- this:
http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/attach/1/Joecon-HiRes-095_1341010766.jpg
Sounds complicated?
It is.
Instead of taking the job of doing a complete modding to that Clutch to just have 5 poa, skip the figure althogether in vehicles, and release the real figure single carded, just like 25th Hiss drivers.
So, instead of wasting money doing a new mold, mix it with the "Swap" viper's mold, and repaint differently, they could have done actually an already designed character and release it to earn cash.
If reducing the articulation was cheaper than releasing a figure (in terms of cost of production not balanced with earnings) then increase the price. People would complain but adapt.
Retailers are ignoring the price tag suggested anyways, so they're taking advantage of the reduced price and quality.
And they released Lifeline, Sci-Fi and Airtight because it meant cash with less cost, not because they care.* They saw we wanted classics so they say "here, because we love you" but these where made with lots of reused parts. It means less new tooling, but nice cost-price.
And honestly, it wasn't that much of a smart move. Too many characters and few army builders, which is what makes them money in the long run.
So, do we say "Thank you" because we spend money on their products?
No.
They don't even care. If they do, they would keep doing a great, respectable line of toys with less profit, instead of crapping on our heads for kid's toys.
Evrything they do is profit and business, that's very clear and most of us understand.
But there are limits. We're customers. And something else:
is not kids that buy toys, it's parents.
Like us.
*we know the design team does care, but doesn't has handle to influence releasing.

Yeah. I would love to see that Clutch released with full articulation. I'd live to see the Swamp Viper. But saying "fuck you HASBLOW" isn't going to get it into your hands any fucking sooner.
Sci-Fi and airtight were new molds head to toe. Lifeline reused a bit, sure, but his torso head and accessories were all new. That's pretty good the proposed 30th Flint was almost entirely re-used parts but it looks amazing. I don't care what it takes toget a figure, if I get it, I'm stoked.

Please don't include me then.
Note that whenever i complain, i do with reasonable reasons.
Before i fuck them off, usually post why i'm pissed of, and most importantly, i give feedback and suggestions (from my ignorance, that's is)
Just for the record the only full new was Airthight. And that's because they had something planned with it (like Barbneque and Heat-viper).
Sci Fi is a brutal kitbash, using Snow serpent and Tornado kick SE with new stuff.
Also, what's more to tell?
It is painfully obvious we would want these!
Is not like they have some parts casted, and want ideas on what to do with them.
They have great figures planned, and great reuses. Reusing is not a problem, and iof it saves costs, then welcome. i don't mind having all my Joes with the same legs, as long as i get the Joes.
Thing sis simple:
they did an incredible job, there aren't props enough to the design team, but the management has been terrible.
I don't care about costs, which figure is already made (the excuse of the cheaper Law because it was similar to the club's Sure-Fire was lame), if the girls are or not going to sell, or if the zombies are Joe enough, or if Paramount as the worst idea ever.
What i do care is about the figures.
All i see is a lot of cancelled cool stuff. A lot of released ugly figures.
The last months have been terrible in brand management. Again i don't care about reasons, but there doesn't seem to have good solutions, and that's what should care. They should have had lots of plan B or C or D.
-"What if [insert problem here] happens?"
-It doesn't matters, we have [insert solution here. I.e: tons of stuff]
-But what about money?
-Oh, we can save [insert solution here]
the problems is that they don't seem to think things ahead, or plan anything.
Unless they're actually doing the best idea ever: show these figures so we can pick them up, and theyll release it.
Judging how Joe stuff has been working lately, i doubt it.

walk softly, carry a big stick.
In this case, walking softly would be less juvenile chatter..the fuck yous and name calling. No need to take it there, just clearly state why you are upset and what would change that. If hasbro is ghosting the tank, im sure that approach would yield better results.
Carrying a big stick would be voting with your dollars...if you are still buying up product but complaining about it at the same time, then you are invalidating your own complaints.

I'm curious what everyone actually thinks gets factored into the cost of a figure. How many differnt steps there are in the process that each need to be paid for individually and how many times it gets repeated for each piece of a figure.

The brand management has been rough, I totally agree. But how much is their fault? Who is to say that Paramount doesn't have them by the short and curlies? Paramount is a much bigger company with a lot more money behind it. And while they have the movie rights, they can boss Hasbro around all they want.
But there are people at Hasbro that deserve our thanks and the design team is at the top of that list. And if we're making blanket statements (which this thread is) a Thanks is far more deserved than a Fuck You. And the Fucks are louder and more numerous. If I was on the design team and saw that, each Fuck would weigh on me twice as much as ten Thanks and eventually I'd want to say Fuck You right back.
I'll take the rough times if it means a golden age for a few months after that.

THANK YOU G.I. Joe Hasbro team,
I realize that it has been a tough year for you. Hasbro did not have a good year, last year as a brand, and that had many implications on your jobs and everyday lives. The company underperformed mostly because of weakened sales in their board games and girls divisions which caused company wide cuts. Those cuts caused many middle class, hard working individuals to lose their livelihoods. With two major rounds of layoffs, one of which impacted the boys toys division, even though their sales were not as disappointing. I can see how that can be stressful on your everyday lives.
The cuts to budgets, that Hasbro made, has obviously caused an upper management decision to cut back in articulation among all of their action figures in their boys toys lines. This can be seen in Hasbro's Star Wars, Avengers, Spiderman, and G.I. Joe lines. It appears that you, as a design team, have fought against upper management to keep articulation in some of the figures. I want to THANK YOU for this and encourage you to continue this fight. Articulation is a key feature to the brand and is something that many fans consider important to the brand. I know that this can be a tough fight. Going to upper management and telling them that a decision, that they have made is causing more long term damage to the brand then the short term financial gain is difficult. Telling your bosses that they are making an incorrect decision in an environment where layoffs are occurring can not be easy.
I want to THANK YOU for the Pursuit of Cobra figures. They were amazing.
I want to apologize, as a fan of Pursuit of Cobra, who frequently requested increased production after wave 1. I want to THANK YOU for listening and increasing the production of wave 2. Unfortunately, by granting my request it caused wave 2 to stay on the shelves for too long. This resulted in the pushing pack of later waves which caused the cancellation of many great 30th Anniversary figures.
I want to THANK YOU for the amazing figures that were designed for the 30th anniversary. Both the ones that got released and those that went unreleased, and showed off at Joecon. It must have been difficult to decide which 21 figures to choose to release. I'm sure it was a shock when you found out from Paramount that the movie was initialing being moved up a couple of months, and it was disappointing when orders were being pushed back because, Wave 2 of Pursuit of Cobra was underselling, because of fan requested increased production.
I want to THANK YOU for the 21 figures that you did release of those that you had designed. They are some of the best of those that you had to choose from.
I want to THANK YOU for showing us many of the figures that were put on the back burner or cancelled. Some fans complain, inappropriately, that the wrong figures get scrapped. By showing us some of the figures that could get made it allows us to give positive feedback and say which ones that we would like to see.
I want to THANK YOU for all of your hard work. It has not been an easy year to work for Hasbro or on the G.I. Joe brand. Decisions by executives to cut budgets, in response to greedy stockholders, and Paramount's decision to move back the movie have all created a stressful work environment that is out of your control. I APPRECIATE all of your hard work and look forward to what G.I. Joe has to offer in the future.
I think you are being far to generous. Hasbro has not earned our thanks. It deserves our contempt.
G.I. Joe and Star Wars has been terribly mismanaged and the responsibility is totally Hasbros. Both lines, and perhaps others that I don't collect, have been run into the ground; the retail situation has been screwed to hell; the distribution plan basically hands these figures to scalpers and scalper e-tailers. The G.I. Joe film has been MAJORly, what, mishandled, clusterfucked, lied about? I don't even know what to complain about when it comes to that fiasco.
It's almost as if they have a meeting where they take what the fans want, make a list, and then do the exact opposite.
I get the whole spew of placating crap about Hasbro being a business and that's all well and good, but we are the customers! When the hell did that factor get removed from doing business? We're all here, on the internet and with our wallets, expressing what we like and want and want more of and what we don't, and their response has been to mismanage, hand the entire hobby to scalpers and the sort and ignore us. Of the hundreds of threads on this site, Hasbro will only consider this one and then give themselves a stranger under the table and then a big sticky pat on their own backs.

If Hasbro sucks so much why are you here? You know what it takes to make a figure? Then to make the level of detail with the different types of plastics etc...? Big Whoop if you plunked down $10.00 for a fig... they shelled out a crapload more than that to make them in the first place.
I have the love for Hasbro, not because they love me back, but because they risk money on the idea I might want a well-produced inexpensive and in most cases creative action figure.
You don't need to love them, but you also don't need to hate them. How about for just a second you think about someone besides yourself and realize that Hasbro is NOT a corporation, it's people.
Granted you may not agree with some of their corporate decisions, but if you didn't buy the things they made you wouldn't care about them, and if you didn't care about them you wouldn't be here. So why you gotta be a hater? Did they piss on your forum post and tell you how contemptuous YOU are?
I know it sounds kinda stupid, trying to tell some people on a toy forum to behave like adults, but sometimes these posts really piss me off. I buy your stuff and I play with it, but you're an awful company for not putting a red ribbon on it and not mailing it to me for free (Not the phrase I originally typed, by the way...).
What have you done for them lately?

Why are you here? On this forum, and especially on this thread?
Thank you, OP, for staying positive. GI Joe is awesome and Hasbro has done A LOT for collectors of late. (I know, I know the Retaliation packaging and articulation suck, but OVERALL it's been great!) We're getting a Tomahawk! Wow!
