And then they tease us with the cancelled figures at Joe Con.
Last Tuesday in Rhode Island, while deciding what to do to make JoeCon 2012 more interesting, there was a game of rock, paper and scissors.
A Rock win meant that the team would reveal cancellations from their vault.
A Paper win meant that the team would try convince you that the 25th anniversary line was returning.
A scissors win meant that the team would openly admit that they have absolutely no clue what the hell they're doing thanks to the douche bags upstairs.
Rock won.

from the Lay offs at the beginning of the Year to the Joe movie getting held back a year, Its been a rough year for Hasbro and the Fandom tends to forget the times Hasbro has come through for us in the past (the 30th, Sky-skriker and the Drednok and Marauder sets comes to mind). To be honest. it's really starting to get tiring of seeing the same Hasbro sucks thread over and over. can't people just enjoy a hobby and not get butthurt over a Kids toyline.

I strongly agree. You know it's kind of funny, you see the same thing with Transformers fans. Every time a movie line comes out they freak out and start saying that the brand is "Ruined Forever!" Until a few months pass and a Generation line comes out. I find it rather amusing how close both fandoms react in the same way.

Actually Star Wars isn't doing as well(who didn't see that coming with old ass figures on new cards and higher prices for old vehicles in new boxes with no drivers!?), and across the board Hasbro's action figure lines aren't doing as hot. Should know more at SDCC.
I've got faith in the design teams, everyone else?

Actually, their VC is doing spectacular and has already gotten the green light for 2013.
It suffers from the same affliction that all Hasbro lines are currently suffering-poor distribution.

Shin, we can tell from the vault images that it's not the lack of creativity of the design teams. I think you had it right when you said something about marketing teams being shitty. Usually it's marketing that has their heads so far up their asses they are practically coming out of their mouths.

I love GI Joe, picked up a Fangboat and another Red Ninja tonight....I still have stores around me with ROC stuff believe it or not. Like I always say, Joe won't be around forever, get what you can now and enjoy it. Stuff is out out there, just have go out and look.
Does Hasbro have some distribution problems? Yeah, maybe....but if you want to find the stuff, you need to hunt for it daily. That means 3 to 5 different retailers 3 to 5 times a week, if not more. I also still think the quality is good, probably not so much with the RET toys, but then again its a movie line, "Quanity over quality" so to speak.
Maybe nothing is wrong with Hasbro, maybe we're all just getting too old and lazy to go out toy hunting anymore and we like to bitch a lot more because we can. I can tell you this, I am going to be 40 this year and Joes are still on the shelfs (at least around me), I couldn't be happier! Just my 2 cents.....

My $.02.
Hasbro gains NOTHING by showing off cool figures that fans want but they will never release except poor customer reaction/loyalty.
They know this. I bet we see 2 seven packs before the year is out comprised of what Hasbro gauged was popular from the JoeCon and SDCC.
My fear is:
1. One of those 7 packs will be a "zombie" themed pack. They may be cool, but there was A LOT more cooler figures in the vault.
2. Hasbro will use that same cheap plastic they used on the movie joe trooper to cut costs. I love Joes, but if they have to use that plastic I'd rather just not be teased.

I agree with this 110%, marketing gets in the way of creativity every time. I know from experience, being a graphic designer that has now worked for several marketing and advertising firms.

maybe they have some distribution problems? are you kidding me?
they have massive distribution problems. it doesn't matter how many times you go out hunting every week or how many stores you hit up when stores haven't stocked anything for MONTHS. and it's not just Joes but MU, SW, etc. Basically if it's hasbro related.
I'm glad that you are blessed with such an abundance of Joes, but you are in the minority. most people are experiencing the exact opposite.

Hasbro's problem:
1. Poor marketing - do they even have a department responsible for marketing outside of convention events? No toy commercials whatsoever, no adds in comics, no cartoons running the same time as the initial release of their own toy lines. Seems like there is a serious disconnect between the design team for the figures and the marketing for the characters in media outlets. Just an overall mess....
2. Whatthehellisgoingonwithallthiscancelledproduct? - Looking at all of this cool stuff from the JoeCon showcase of what could have been baffles the hell out of me. There is relatively small quantities of Joe product that gets fairly distributed in the first place. Who would make the decision to ax over 50 figures and some vehicles to have nothing on pegs for the remainder of 2012?
Just dumb, why not release everything at a later date? After the movie merchandise just continue on with the 30th Anniversary? So much of the product shown has a consumer demand, what gives!!!
3. Horrible distribution inspires online scalping! - I can't buy what's not available Hasbro so why continue to short pack highly desirable figures in favor of core characters that continue not to sell? Duke and Cobra Commander are never hard to find and yet they come at least two each to a case of twelve. Add that to the fact that stores normally won't order more than two cases at a time that limits the chance most of us would get at ever getting newer figures that expand our collection. Distribution is an issue that can be mitigated by Hasbro by just using better decisions in the case layouts for the limited amounts of products that are made available throughout most of the year. There is no good reason Storm Shadow and Low-light go for $65 on Amazon when they where originally planned to be easier to find in retail according to a claim Hasbro made back in 2010.

No. Hasbro fails, continuously, across the board. I'm close to abandoning all their franchises and finding other hobbies. I've had enough.

If Hasbro wants to fail across the board, then let them. I have better things to do; like find a better job, get back into school, work on customs to match canceled figures, pay bills until the end of time.
Most customizers have the right idea about things. If it can't be found in store then make it yourself, if you want it so much. I will never pay for those overpriced fanclub/joecon exclusive toys (BBTS is awesome and has the most reasonable prices for their 7-packs). Much cheaper for me to learn how to make my own toys. The next several months may be long, but I will not waist it all away whining over what could have been. After all I am a fan of this toy line, this will be how I keep it alive.

Exactly. I'm not attempting to troll or anything, but when I saw those pics, I was so excited only to be completely let down after reading the fine print seconds later, that these were axed. What are they doing?! Great figures to be scrapped for junk.
Well at least I can save money and catch up on older stuff.
