I thought that some of you might find this interesting...
Army scraps eye-catching pixel camo uniforms.

How does everyone feel about this concerning the real life troops as well as concerning action figures which may no longer use this camo scheme as well?

Good. I hated the digital camo.

Unless we're invading computers, who needs it?

Honestly, I preferred my BDUs over my ACUs. I did like the desert boots better since they were low maintenance. Being Airborne, the only boots that need to be polished are my dress uniform jump boots, IMO. Anything else should be as low maintenance as possible. No starching uniforms, no polishing combat boots, etc.

Was just getting used to Digi camo on Joes but i will be excited to see if Hasbro paints camo applications anymore. Seems like something they cannot afford to do for a 10 dollar toy.

Misleading title. The Army is getting rid of the shades of grey UCP pattern. The Army is in the middle of picking a new set of camo patterns and a few of the possibilities are digital.

The part of the article that most excited my imagination was mention of the video game Contra. Now there is a property that needs to be brought back to life.
As far as on topic discussion goes, I'm glad they are doing away with the design because I guess, according to the article anyways, that it didn't conceal our troops very well.

Time for our military to go full on OG Alley Viper with their uniforms.

Must have had a stealth mode on it.

I saw a show on the Science Channel that suggested that a fabric with a stealth mode was actually being developed. They even showed it in action, but so far it could only fool a camera. It was wicked pissah dude.

Stealth fabric has been in development for over a decade. Clemson University had samples 10 years ago that could be embedded in fiberglass for cars and was undetectable to police radar, or so they claimed. Wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm just waiting on some sort of active camo. ;)

Yeah bro, that's sick. The "S" they showed on the show was like that suit they showed in the background of RoC where that Asian girl puts it on and then disappears. It was bananas!

I liked the multicam uniforms I had in Afghanistan. They didn't hold up very well though. Not sure why they don't just issue those for daily wear to save development money.

They need to have that camo with little GI Joe symbols on them since ROC made it look so cool.

Agreed, My dad wore BDU's and I did too. Got out before the ACU's came around.

The design, known as the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP), has failed at doing what camo should do: Hide our soldiers. "If we can see our own guys across a distance because of it, then so can our enemy,"
Unless we're invading computers, who needs it?
I never understood the pixel camouflage, made no sense to me.
BDUs is what we had in my days and it worked fine. Why mess with something that ain't broke?

You know, when the Marine Corps did the tests and trials for their digital camouflage (which was inspired by CadPat), which works unlike the UCP/ACU's, they offered the Army a chance to get on board and share the costs. After all the Army has deeper pockets. The Army declined.
Then, after the Marpat design was proven and chosen, the Corps offered the Army another chance to use it, but told them they would have to pay for it. Again, the Army declined.
Now the Marine Corps is still using those same patterns and the Army is spending what will probably be another $5 billion to replace camouflage that didn't camouflage to begin with. I guess looking different is more important that actually being functional.
