Ive seen a lot of custom female cobra troops and stuff. Is there any females in cobra in the Gijoe cannon? I know baroness zarana and zanya. Are there others?
Do you think that cobra recruits ladies, and have there ever been figures made of these ladies of cobra?

Cobra does recruit ladies, and the old cartoon at least show NUMEROUS female variations including Cobra Troopers and Crimson Guards (notably, Cadet Demming).

But at the end of the day, GI Joe is a male-driven toy franchise, so Hasbro is NEVER going to commit a lot of resources into female figures, much less generic troop builders.
But back in the new sculpt days, Hasbro developed "Munitia" as a new character, and the club used some leftover tooling to do several female troop builders in an o-ring con set.

I think that's a mistake on Hasbro's part my girls are collecting figures and they pick up all the the female characters. Needless to saw they only have so many to choose from with Hasbro so they've taken to collecting DC universe figures. The market is there they just need to tap into it.

In the ddp comic run there was mayday and vorona, don't think they got a figure though. But there were new sculpt figures for bombstrike and gi jane.

Spell of the Siren featured females soldiers for Joe and Cobra, as all the males get hypnotized.

In the comic, female troopers seemed to be detailed to working for CC in some kind of HQ capacity. In the cartoon, we did see a cadre working for the Baroness in the reality-altering episode "Worlds Without End."

In terms of toys, some of the customizers out there have cast female torsos for most of the major "branches" of Cobra - CGs, televipers, Alley Vipers, pilots, troopers, etc. Some of these are still available through different sites.

Go to yojoe.com and under toy archive, click on figures. Then click on convention and go to 2007 convention. You'll see the female cobra troopers; 3 troopers and one officer. If you go to the alphabetical tab, you can click on "M" to find munitia. You can also use "V" to find vypra.

A few of the lesser known female Cobra troops came in the Tanks for the Memories set.

But what you don't read is that a lot of female cobras was stationed in their cooking and cleaning units! Fairly unkown facts until now.

But why are your girls collecting? Is it because YOU are a collector yourself?

After 10 years, Hasbro, I feel, pretty well knows the markets. Your kids are exception, NOT the example. Girls continue to be a relative minority among action figure collectors, much less GI Joe in specific.
