Eventually, if you leave them under water long enough the screws in their thighs will rust. This is worse for your fish than your joes. Should be fine short term though.

Ha! Cool stuff. Don't leave the figures in there for any length of time though (like a day or so). They discolour.

Yes, as a long time fish guy - its bad for the fish to leave them in there. Chemicals can leach from the paint and parts, and you will deal with rust, as stated above.

Only aquarium decorations should be used, as you could poison the fish over time

Actually, getting them wet is fine. But NEVER feed them after midnight...

Cool pics. This reminds me of the time when I was working at Walmart in the pets dept. I had a guy call the store and wanted to know if smoking pot in the same room as his tank would hurt the fish.

I have heard of people using their fishtank to make a bong.
I wonder how that would work.

Do you leave the fish in?

Pretty neat. I also use a 10 gallon fish tank to display my Joes since I am too cheap to buy a decent display case... of course, mine doesn't have any water in it. LOL.

The main problem is you can only fit four rows... 28 Joes in a 10 gallon fish tank. I guess you can squish them together and get an extra row if you have to though.

Pretty happy with my small 25th Joe collection; only missing 5 25th Joes that I really want... Sgt. Slaughter, Dial Tone, Jinx, Cover Girl & Doc. But I can live without those guys if I have to.

I just like how they are all lined up... like Terra-cotta warriors guarding the 1st Chinese emperor's tomb. LOL.

I had concerns about this too. From watching "Tanked" on Animal Planet, I see that they make some sort of fish-safe resin or polymer that you can coat items in. This would however limit your ability to re-pose your figures which defeats the whole purpose.

I've thought about this idea before and actually wanted to build dioramas that you could display in the fish tank. 10g is a little small, but I have a 37g tank that's sitting in my garage that could be used for it.

Also, if you have a leaking fish tank of significant size and don't want to reseal it, you could totally set up a diorama in it and keep it dust-free (instead of throwing it away).
