I finally decided to make a Gi Joe themed aquarium. Let me know what you all think.

I thought about it but then I just dropped him in. I was concerned the glue would be toxic. They will probably be destroyed but sure looks cool in the mean time.

Neat. I had an Eel in my tank for a couple months, then got tired of standing him back up when fish or myself knocked him over. His knives kept floating to the top too lol.

I want to use the battleplatform of cobra hammerhead box I have as an aquarium backdrop, but havent figure out how to mount it just yet.

That plastic is gonna leach toxins into the water not to mention the screws rusting are not gonna be good for the water quality either.

I had this concern, however after researching on the web and talking to a couple pet store owners they said it should be fine. They all seem to say that the toys will fade and the screws will rust but it should not be enough to significantly change the water chemistry.

It wont mess with the ph, ammonia, etc but it will put other stuff in the water. You wouldnt leave a piece of rusting metal in the tank would you? As the metal rust it will release different things into the water. Thats why fish tank ornaments, etc contain very little if any metal.

So you lose a few goldfish.

Seriously though, this is a sweet idea.

How the hell did I miss this thread in my search. I guess I was looking in the wrong section on the tank.

I've had a rattler, sharc, and sea ray with a couple figures in my tank for 5 years now...they've worn down and got covered with stuff to look like real wrecks. But the fish have been OK so far.

I took the landing gear off, and the clown loach I have usually hangs out in the tail.

Love the idea of the Hammerhead in the aquarium- I may try to find an old shell and chop up to do something with.

All of these look really cool.

I wouldn't worry about the fish if all you have in there are some tetras, guppies, etc. Plus, it seems everyone who's done this has been using fresh water fish tanks, not salt water which would corrode the figures/vehicles much faster.

It would be awesome if someone took a Moray or similar boat and made it look wrecked... Underwater dios... FTW!

I have a vision of building a Original Era tank built around the Heavy water scene from the GI Joe Movie. Right now School keeps me pretty busy but the day will come where I can make those tube worms. :D

Your display is hardcore. You have balls putting a rattler in there. Well whatta ya say boys? One less vintage rattler out there now???? ;)

Very cool. If I had a fish tank who knows what kind of shit I would put in there.
