View Full Version : Who should Sideshows next "kit bash" be?

Now that Sideshow Collectibles has broken from the tradition of doing repaints for their SDCC exclusive, who else should get the "kit bash" treatment?

Sideshow has always reused parts on figures (gloves, boots, backpacks, berets and the list goes on). What repaints could be done on equipment, uniforms or other items to recreate Joe or Cobra characters?

I voted for shockwave. Always liked him and would be pretty easy to do and look great.

Tough call for me between Outback and Shockwave, but I had to go for Shockwave!

Hell no to Shockwave....he doesn't need to be a f'in kitbash! are you crazy? He needs full Sideshow treatment...lets not let them halfass another figure like RnR....ugghhh...

The easiest kitbashes that look good are cobra troopers/vipers/and the upcomming CG (as the almighty Crimson Shadow Guard)...we have had enough ninja kitbash repaints)...although I would love to see the Black Dragon Ninja redone in white as a better Storm Shadow (either V1 or V2)...his first incarnation was hideous...

I'm going with Storm Shadow Version 2, I'm dying to see Sideshow do that figure justice after the utter disappointment of Hasbro's cheap repaint version from the 25th Anniversary line!

And since we're getting a second Snake-Eyes, it just makes sense to have another Storm Shadow! ;-)

But Ninja-Ku doesn't really belong on this list, as Sideshow's take on him was JUST released as the Black Dragon Ninja! We don't need another one of him so soon! :-P

We need a Grunt.

^^^^ This! If Snake Eyes can get the second treatment, why not Storm Shadow? The compound bow that comes with Zartan and the multiple ninja releases guarantee more than enough equipment to outfit a new version.

And there's also the part where I don't want to pay $200 or more to get the custom-made one that's available right now...

Plus we all know that Sideshow's would be even BETTER! ^_^

Out of those choices, Mercer would be my preferred figure.

*BUMP!*

Still want Sideshow to do a Version 2 Storm Shadow! It's time. ;-)
Exactly!

Missed the poll but Grunt, Breaker or Airborne would be top of my list.

Outback and/or Shockwave would be cool too, but they're not quite as "classic". Not interested in the others... well, maybe Storm Shadow V2. Maybe. :)

Shockwave, mostly because bare arms don't look too good on Sideshow figs, not at least with some gear (padded elbows, or short sleeves). Outback and Mercer wouldn't look too well, imho.
And from what i see, there's already too many ninjas to ask for a Ninja-Ku o SS V2.

Nunchuk could be interesting though, since it can be a cool mix of military with ninja...

I dont collect Sideshow due to the price but I think they are cool, from you list I would like to see Mercer, but if I could pick any Joe or Cobra it would have to be Spirit & Freedom or Xamot & Tomax

I would love to see a well done Spirit & Freedom... something of an updated, tactical version that still pays homage to his American Indian heritage.

I would also love a good SEAL like Torpedo with some cool amphibious gear.

Outback or Airbourne for me.

Why not just bashed the figure yourselves?http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x378/buu14/noclue-1.gif

We like official figures.

I want that v2 Storm Shadow...we don't have a Joe ninja to fight Red Ninja, Ninja Viper and Black Dragon Ninja!

My choice initially was Shockwave...fairly easy to do using the Beachhead balaclava head sculpt and maybe throw in an alternate "unmasked" version.

Mercer with his flat top haircut would be an easy mashup from the Viper figure...maybe some custom "no Cobra" sigils and some customized/modified versions of the guns Viper came with. Different undershirt as well.

Yeah, I prefer "official" Sideshow releases...box and all.

Sideshow could easily contract with Hot Toys and release "Joe Versions" of some of their excellent military figures. It would be easy to make a new head, and make some new packaging and get the bodies and accessories from Hot Toys... and then just add some Joe detailing and patches. At least for the Joes, that should be easy.

Obviously the Cobras often have a little more unique details about them.

Scap Iron would be another they could bash up with the Viper parts...I made a half-assed one with the Exclusive Viper that works.

I don't think it would be to hard to make a Footloose figure.

Bumping again because Sideshow needs to hurry up and do this as a WIDE RELEASE figure! I've done more research into the custom pictured above. I've tracked it back to the original site where one could be commissioned... and the guy that made them has RETIRED IT!!! You can't order one anymore! :-(

So, yeah, Sideshow is now our ONLY HOPE! And they better not even THINK about charging anywhere near the $200 the custom-commissioned ones were going for!
