to all you veterans of the joe con world what are some things that a noob may not be expecting good or bad?

That's not nice. The 12" fans have just as much right to attend ad the rest of us.

extremley bumped up prices, ques for everything, atms with no money in them, the most expensive bottles of drink in the world ever! and yes lots of unwashed slow moving space hoggers.

but thats all part of the experience. i would take spare carrier bags, hard backed envelopes and or comic bags with boards, a bottle of water and of course deodrant and lots of dollar.

enjoy...gutted i live on the other side of the planet.

What may surprise you (as it seems lost on most non-convention goers) is to find out
from talking face to face with the GI Joe design team.... That they really do give a shit
about what we want and think... (well, the more atriculated and logical bits at least).

I'll echo what Grye said. One of my favorite memories from 2010 Con was getting to hear John Warden wax poetically about the inspiration behind the PoC Jungle Viper. Standing there with about 5 or 6 people, inches away from the display hearing the creator talk about what inspired him and the process of creation was awesome.

Also, expect to meet a LOT of people :D

Hmm maybe the club should hire a bunch of perfume counter people, dress them up in blue and go around spraying Eau De Cobra.

on second thought I just remembered the plot of that episode. nvm.

If you see something you want at a decent price, you should get it. Most likely when you walk back around, it will be gone

Yes, lol. In Rhode Island, my kids wanted to stand with me in line and it lasted maybe 20 min and they wanted to go back to the room. Luckily my wife decided to go back and took the ones that wanted to go. If not that would have been a long ass day in line with (at the time) 3 kids complaining.

Most of the time, the kids dont go w/me to joecon. it is usually my wife and I. Kids stay at home lol.

IDK

I went to 2 Bot Cons and a Joe Con and found prices (at least for the stuff I was looking for) to be extremely reasonable.

Expect to stand in line for a long ass time!!!

Are you basing this on last year's con or several of them? When i went in 2010, the lines weren't bad at all.

Last year was my first con and i was really surprised at how easily it was to talk with the design team and their passion for the line in general. Prices in the showroom were really reasonable in my opinion was well.

The thing that surprised me is the fact that we actually have a convents for our hobby. It is very cool once you walk into the convention and realize this for the first time.

Hahaha! Most excellent. I knew some guys were lurking about. Now all we need is someone yelling "Bullet man!" I'll raise glasses with ya man - even if you play with "dolls". (I may have a few hid about the place too)

The thing that surprised me the most last year, well two things I wasn't expecting actually was:

1. The exclusives will all be sold out Thursday, there won't actually be any of the joecon items at joecon (general admission) except from the vendors who were able to get them before hand (who will be selling them for 2 to 3 times the already exorbant joecon price).

2. The club is actually a business, putting on this event not to celebrate a hobby, but to attract people to give them money. The whole atmosphere was all about squeezing every dollar they can out of the joe collector (funny how many of those same financial contributors are so enthralled into the whole scam that not ony do they give them thousands each year, but also will aggressively defend them anytime any of the above, or any other grievance towards the club is mentioned).

1. Yeah, I can only remember a couple of times maybe that the exclusives ever made it to the next day. Maybe the Red Shadows car?

2. You shut your dirty mouth!

Funny especially given the outright hatred of 'Sclapers' to the hobby.
