Joe Declassified is very excited to bring you and invite you to the
Joe Declassified Booth at JoeCon 2012!!!!
If you’re not familiar with Joe Declassified or the Joe Declassified Booth, please visit JoeDeclassified.com and JoeDeclassified.com/forum or seek out previous Joe Declassified Booth related threads across the forums.
The Joe Declassified Booth staff, contributors, and volunteers have spent the last year-plus discovering, accumulating, and organizing some amazing GI JOE history from the past 30 years, to debut at this year’s convention. You will see things that pretty much no one has seen before as well as things that pretty much no one has seen before outside of a catalog or magazine photo or panel.
There will be prototypes, artwork, international grails, vintage rarities, completely unknown items that up to this point still remain unidentified, samples of unproduced and unreleased concepts both 2 and 3 dimensional, rare non-toy and role-play items (both preproduction and beyond). You can expect items and concepts from 1982 onward (if not earlier): ARAH, Star Brigade, Sgt. Savage, Extreme, Battle Corps Rangers, Sigma 6, 25th Anniversary, etc. You will see items that range from samples of the earliest steps in the preproduction process to previously unseen or rarely photographed preproduction variations. There will of course be some returning artifacts from previous years, as well as things that have surfaced and have been documented recently, but have not yet made their Joe Declassified Booth debut up until now. This is your chance to experience these things, upfront and in person, and to be able to talk about them with the collectors who have dedicated their time and efforts to discovering and documenting the history of GI JOE.
We hope everyone attending the convention will come by to see what we have on display and we hope you will come and talk to us and ask us questions about what is in the booth. Of course we do this in part so that people can see these things, but we really do it in hopes that you’ll engage us in conversation. So please come talk to us. Please ask us questions!!!!!
We will of course have a NEW issue of the FREE Joe Declassified Magazine at the booth for you to take home. You can download previous issues at JoeDeclassified.com if you need to catch up. We ask that you do NOT sell these magazines. The magazine is fueled solely by donations and no one gets paid for writing the articles or providing content. Joe Declassified is a not-for-profit organization and so we ask that if you do NOT want your copy of the magazine, to please GIVE it to someone who might. Please do NOT sell it on ebay or anywhere else.
NO PHOTOS are allowed to be taken at the Joe Declassified Booth. The items in the booth are donated by volunteers and staff and out of respect for said contributors, we ask that NO photographs are taken of what is in the booth. The booth and its contents are also meant to be something exclusive to convention attendees. There have also been issues in the past with people photographing things in the booth and trying to use those images to turn a profit. So for several reasons, we must request that you do NOT take any photos of the Joe Declassified Booth nor the items displayed within. Some of what is being shown in the booth this year, will be uploaded to the new JoeDeclassified.com archives, JoeIntel.com, and YoJoe.com, or will be shown through the Joe Declassified Podcast (www.podbean.com/jdso (http://www.podbean.com/jdso)). So while we do NOT allow pictures of the items in the booth, some of the things revealed at JoeCon, will show up elsewhere, very soon.
We do NOT sell anything at the Joe Declassified Booth. Nothing is for sale. Everything is for display only.
This year we will have TWO entire booths dedicated to Joe Declassified. Make sure you come back each day as we like to try and rotate the selection as the weekend progresses. What is on display Friday may not be on display the following day. What we show off on Saturday might not have been there the day before. Again, we are very happy and eager to talk about anything and everything in the booth. So please feel free to ask questions or just open a dialogue with us. Don’t be shy. You’re not bothering us, and we are there for YOU. We hope you are as excited as we are!!!!!!
See you in NOLA,
Joe Declassified:
The Hidden World of GI JOE.

I highly recommend making time to hang out at the Declassified booth. There's tons of awesome stuff that you will not see ever again. Last year he they had some great prototypes, 2 Ups, amazing artwork. I tried to buy the crazy multi colored Hiss last year but of course was told it was not for sale. So I debated stealing it :) Seriously though the people in the booth are very knowledgeable and willing to talk about the stuff. I'm not going this year and I'm most disappointed in the fact that I won't get to see what the Declassified booth has to offer.
This is one of if not THE booth I am looking fwd to seeing.

There are definitely things that will most likely be held back for Sat and Sun that won't be out on Friday. But we really won't know to what extent until we start setting up on Friday since we are wielding TWO booths this year.
It's something that hasn't been done before in regards to the Declassified Booth.. having all that room for stuff.

Yeah, you are right. Just the original mock ups of figures, preproduction art work and pieces of history of the line since its inception. Things that never made it to release, etc., etc...
What are you people thinking, paying for two booths this year and putting out a free magazine? How much are tickets to your booth(s)? Oh wait, it's free...
People doing things for the community for the love of the brand. Agreed all crap, dumb crap at that.

I always find it cute when you girls say "most fans" as if you actually believe your petty, selfish ideas reflect on all of us.
An actual GI Joe FAN enjoys seeing internal Hasbro office productions and mock-ups, unused prototypes, never-before-seen concepts and just to know the history of the brand they love. It's the difference between being a 'fan' and being a 'consumer', which I'll venture a guess is as deep as your interests go.
That, and obviously feeling good about yourself on the internet by trying to demean the things others do.

Just let it go man. It's been the same request made of guests of the Declass table since Dallas. I don't understand why every year this one request is made in mountain out of a mole hill.
If you want, I would be happy to share with you photos of the pieces of my collection I will be contributing to the table, but at least respect those who do not want their property photographed.
I will say, I did catch someone trying to sell the 2009 CJC HATE tank using a photo of my tank on display in the Declass booth.

To quote myself from before:
The truth of the matter is that despite my large and wild ambitions, Declassified still remains a small project, largely dependent on the good will and graces of friends who voluntarily choose to be involved.
In an effort to provide fellow Joe fans with everything we can, sometimes deals have to be struck. If contributors are going to only offer up pieces for display at the convention under the terms that no pictures be taken, then I am going to oblige their request. The heart of Declassified is that is a community based project - Joe fans contributing on the behalf of other Joe fans. That said, I have to honor the obligations and stipulations that the contributors extract as part of the deal. Would that I owned every piece ever on display in our booth, I would happily invite photography, but the policy remains in place at the request of my assosciates - and it is their policy that we enforce at the booth. I understand that this might appear contradictory, but I would rather be able to share some unique and rare parts of Joe history with some of the collector populace, than none of them. There is no desire to create any sense of elitism or exclusivity - were it up to me, the Conventions would stay in a consistent location and be more affordable to the average fan. As it is, Joe Declassified runs the booth and publishes our magazine at a personal financial loss to myself (and I wouldn't have it any other way).

That's a nebulous question, unfortunately, and one we can't always answer with certainty. YES, is what I'd like to emphatically claim. Much of our stuff for display is from the original line, and often purchased directly from the sculptors, artists, etc who were allowed to take them home. If one of them did so illicitly, it would be impossible for us to determine that.
For clarification, everything we show was obtained legally.

Yeah you should hang out by the Declassified booth. Totally empty all weekend long. Nobody cares about that crap from the 80s. Of course you do. You only want what comes next. Next, next, next. You don't care about what it is or what came before. You're not a fan. You're a consumer.
The method in which these things are shown to you is irrelevant. YOU said fans don't care about the dumb crap they display. Which is it? Name recognition or fan interest? Because, I'll admit I give a care who shows it off. An individual collector, Declass, or Kirk Bozigian in a panel... I really don't lend them any credit beyond what they are due for creating it or procuring it. But the chance to see them is valuable.
Everyone likes to pretend having an opinion makes them infallable because it is - by virtue of being an opinion - not based on fact. Well, your opinion is wrong. I know because you are not very smart you will carry on, but the truth is the truth and the fact remains.

Brokecon is pretty much where a bunch of people hang out and have a good time on line here wishing we were there. It is a blast. Funny thing is more often than not people who can't get along any other time seem to have a blast doing that.

Since this thread has degenerated into an off topic flame-fest this is closed. It's not like anyone needs a reminder of the booth since it is in some poster's sigs, it's not like this booth was low visibility, the word is out there and this thread need not go further.
