I think it is because wrestling fans may have picked some up, making less available for Joe collectors. I personally think the Zaranas are better figures, but both are solid.

Because Sgt. Slaughter is a huge icon for the Joe team. Zarana is just Mainframe's girl and Zartan & Zandar's sister. Sgt. Slaughter was a main leader in some of the cartoons as well and he actually voiced the Character. Plus, Robert Remus (Sgt. Slaughter) went to Joe Con and members here have sen him at TRU during Christmas.

I dont get it...Slaughter was a low point for Joe...They put way too much emphasis on him. The Cartoon made him look like Superman turning not only Cobra into bumbling idiots but all the rest of Americas highly trained force as well (you know except for Capt. Grid Iron) the other bloated character. As far as the figures go... Zaranas looks cooler and is far superior in every way!

Personally I would much rather have zarana. To each his own though. Slaughter is certainly a cool figure.

I've been wondering the same thing.
I was able to get a pink Zarana for a half way decent price off amazon a while back, but Sarge is selling for soooo much more. He's a figure I will probably never own, even though I love the character and had a whole collection of ARAH Sarges.

BTW, I think the Pink Zarana is one of the best figures Hasbro has put out in a long time (just my opinion).

most certainly NOT this ^ the sarge in real life was fat, sure. but the cartoon slaughter was a shit brickhouse. you replaced your opinions as facts too. not everyone feels that way. a low point??? how do you figure??? i, as well as every other gi joe fan when i was a kid loved sarge. zarana was no way near as important or popular of a character.

yeah, it will happen again this year too. You go to their store 2 weeks before and start pressing F5 repeatadley for days while chitchatting her on the tank from another computer and they have this really cool banner on HTS.com about all of thier exclsuives and then they go up for sale for 2.4 seconds tops and they get robbbed strait outta your cart while it sits at processing and then errors/crashes to the desktop and then you finally get back everything is sold out....

I prefer Zarana. She was a main character in the original Marvel run. I wish I had those instead of the two Sgt Slaughter figures. Even as a kid I thought Sgt Slaughter was a dumb character. He was ok in the issue or two he appeared in the comic, but on the cartoon he was just stupid. Also, his figure even has a pot belly! What kind of drill instructor is that?

I agree with figurewave. Slaughter was a low point for me in the cartoon as well. Joes are shooting bats to no avail and Sarge punches them and they explode? I guess some kids thought that was cool and made him awesome. Those kids where I grew up were the ones who ate paste. I thought it was dumb and brought the cartoon down even lower than it was.

But like others have said, Slaughter got more attention because of the wrestling angle. Zarana is a Joefan only figure.

This. I was looking into getting a USA Slaughter a few weeks ago, and it costs more than I paid for my TTT Slaughter (the most expensive figure I currently own)

Give it a year, and Zaranas will get more expensive.

Then again, maybe Hasbros right. Lady figures just don't sell.

For me, the Slaughter figure is one of my most vivid memories of Joe when I was a kid, so the TTT version in particular was really big for me to get. It was all I wanted for Christmas in '86, I was pretty much obsessed with staring at the listing in the Sears catalog. Opening it up is one of my favorite memories from back then.

So, of course, when Hasbro offered him up in 25th style, it was a huge deal for me.

I loved Slaughter as a kid, but I was also big into wrestling at the time...so combine the fact that a real wrestler was in with my favorite toys as a kid was great. I lucked out and bought three Slaughters (1 TTT, 2 USA) on eBay for $80 shipped when they started showing up in stores in the Phillipines. I paid the same amount shipped for two Pink Zaranas (one to open one MOC).

So for me it was a wash...

But Slaughter was a much bigger part of the GI Joe universe than Zarana was.

I grew up on the cartoon and Slaughter was more important too me. I ended up getting a Zarana because it was an exclusive but I also got 2 USA Slaughters. The mail in USA was my first joe figure so it will always be special to me. Still trying to get a Triple T version but the price is more than I'm willing to pay for one figure. Although I have to agree, the USA version is going up in price on Ebay. Glad I got 2 before the price hike.
