G.I.Joe Avalanche - Urban Ops

Hmmm...where to begin. Ok -

Last October (2011), I decided to paint my 1990 Avalanche shell white as it was beginning to discolor a bit. I went in to my stash of spray and pulled out a can of White Krylon Fusion.

Well, heat and/or age got to the paint, because as I sprayed in on the Tank, something just didn't seem right. The color was just an odd tint..almost opaque. I decided to keep on painting and left it to try for a few days.

Well, after about a week, this thing looked almost mustard in color...as though someone were chain smoking next to it. The paint was STILL TACKY after a week!...I didn't know what kind of trouble I was in, so I did the only sane thing I could..I contacted KrymsynGardImmoral (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/members/krymsyngardimmoral.html).

We worked out some details and I mailed him the shell. He put a TON of work in to it...getting the old, bad paint off. Getting new, fresh paint on. Making it sexy ala his Jungle HISS style. The only contribution I have to this is painting the gray pieces - missile ramps, mine dispenser, scout craft...you know, the parts that look like I did them (lol).

So, now that you have the backstory, may I present to you, the G.I.Joe Avalanche UWO (Urban Winter Ops).

I can't take any credit for it other than the painting the extra "bits." This is all Kevin and I can't thank him enough for the time and effort he put in to this.

ffg, if you could only see through my eyes and see how bad the krylon fusion had effed up the shell. I didn't think it would be salvageable. For it to come back looking like this was more than a surprise.

Painting the putty color bits in the same gray color was a good call, man. It looks good, changes the whole feel of the vehicle. I am glad you liked it, it was the first time I had adapted that camo process to something other than a HISS.

D, as Kev will tell you...it was horrible. The first thing Kev did when he received the shell was send me a msg asking WTF did I do to it (LOL!). The paint was just...bad. It looked like a mustard color, although it was supposed to be white.

I'm really lucky that Krym was able to do what he did...because there's no way in hell I would've been able to fix it myself.

I bet it would look good with white out and POC snow Job hanging out on it. You should take some pics in the snow!! Oh, wait....Florida. Take some pics next to a bag of frozen peas in your freezer.
