Just got my wave 2 Retaliation Storm Shadow from China and it's not as bad as it looked originally. Fully articulated from wrists to knees and ankles like we were used to (or was it spoiled?) from PoC and 30th lines. The gear is not flashy but not bad either.
He has a removeable hood, backpack with slots for his 2 swords, rifle and webgear along with the spring activated gimmick backpack that shoots 2 lines out for a rope and little "wings" that pop out near the bottom of the backpack (for what?) He also comes with a red piece that must somehow go with the backpack/rope stuff and looks like it fits his arm with a spot for his hand to grab it too.
His black webgear/vest has pouches on the front and a large red Arashikage symbol on the back.

Terrible figure..its worse then ROC rendition of ChocoChipSS......is that DG SE webgear?

Yeah, it's the DG SE webgear (or POC Night Fox).
The only thing I like about this figure is the backpack for swords. I like it in black better than red which is how mine is (POC).

Well my point was they are both really bad...and this one gives us nothing more then the ROC one did...the vintage figure was a really cool too..why can thet get teh update justice he deserves?...They just need to take a red ninjas in white and put the right camo markings on it, give him a bow and call it done...and put him in a DG card and put him on the shelf before the end of the year lol...

I got mine yesterday if you swap out the legs with a roc wave 5 artic threat storm shadow it looks alot better, the black on the roc legs matches up pretty well, although the white is a touch off.
Is this just a repaint of the first ROC Storm Shadow, but with a new head? I like it either way. The camo pattern is better than the stupid Tetris pieces that SS v2 had on his pajamas. This works much better as an update than the carbon copy some people want would.

I like it, swap out the hands with the ret SS and you got it made.

The odd thing is there is no Cobra markings anywhere on him, maybe in the movie he goes to the Joe side?

Thanks for the pics man I have been looking forward to this figure. It's not movie-accurate but it works in my eyes as a concept figure.

Dont think ChocoCHipSS was a joe or a Cobra when is figure was released in ARAH. HIs file card dosent mention, only serving with SE and his arishikage heritage stuffs...I recall him being a Joe in that garb for some reason...but I could have that wrong in my mind...

To answer what that Red Hand thing is, he holds it and it plugs into that X on the back/button of the Backpack. I guess he hangs from it.
Also, only gets 2 of the 4 connecting swords? Laaaaame... Poor Stormie.

I might be wrong, but do the swords peg together, ala Darth Maul?
Also, it looks like that red thing that goes on his hand can be used to "rewind" the ropes on his back.
Glad someone is stoked on him.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Un Chakal on the questions about the swords & x thingy.

Actually, I think I got jipped on this item. He has a holster on his side but no gun for it too, and the extra 2 swords that could go in the backpack if he's supposed to come with 4 swords?

They might, one did have a small "stub" sticking out the end of it. I'll have to dig him out of the display case and see now, be back in a bit......
They do indeed connect into each other -

yes the swords fit together, It's the same back pack and sword from POC desert storm shadow. looks weird with only two swords for sure.
edit: doh!, didn't see the pic. sorry guys, I've let you all down.

I don't get why they couldn't update the skirt with a cloth one. PoC SS had a cloth skirt afterall. The hard plastic really fucks up the hip articulation.

He has lots of the same gear as this Storm Shadow.

Hmm..looks like I gots me a new Fantomex custom base with this figure... ;)
All in all he doesn't look too bad, but none of the retaliation SS's have "blown me away" quite like the ol' Renegades version...

Interesting thought. Could we see a photo without the web gear off? I am assuming he is essentially ROC Paris Pursuit SS but I am not positive.
I love the angular deco on him. I know people do not like this look but it is very nostalgic for me. That is the SS I had as a kid. I think its way cooler than just white and its a throwback to the 90s so all of those things add up to awesomeness in the toy.
I think I will be adding this one as well to my army of Storm Shadows thanks for the pics!

Yes it did. I think its origin dates back to Resolute Storm Shadow but has been used at least 6 times since. : )

I think that figure's ace! I love Storm Shadow having a pattern to his outfit to help camouflage him, he is a ninja after all. Although think about it, Snake Eyes is an awesome ninja, who dresses in black to blend into the shadows. Storm Shadow is SUCH A BADASS NINJA that he can do all the same stuff but in white!

It's not the Paris Pursuit body, it's the roc wave 1 body. The paris pursuit one had a different torso.

I've never claimed to be a Storm Shadow fan, although I've had my weak moments. This figure helps me stay strong. I may still pick one up for my ninja-massacre diorama.

I haven't been blown away by the Retaliation line so far...but this Storm Shadow is a nice throwback to the 1988 "GI JOE" Stormy. I think I may get this guy.
As for the comment above about no Cobra markings, it's already been discussed that Storm Shadow does help out Snake Eyes at some point in the film. Does this mean he fights for GI JOE now? It happened in the comics and the toyline, so perhaps. But to truly find the answers we are going to have to wait until March to see Retaliation. :-)

Actually you can see what allegiance he has now:
