CW Hits The Mark With Full ‘Arrow’ TV Series Trailer | Screen Rant (http://screenrant.com/cw-arrow-tv-trailer-yman-172887/)

"A couple of days ago, fans were treated to the first footage of Stephen Amell in the role of Oliver Queen, as he readied himself to take back the streets of Starling City and investigate the fate that has befallen his father in the upcoming DC Comics-inspired TV series Arrow.

On the heels of that sneak peek, The CW has now provided fans with the series’ first official trailer, which delves further into the Arrow mythos and expands on the gritty storytelling that was only hinted at in the previous reveal. Now, instead of a shirtless Amell, we are treated to the Emerald Archer’s costume and archery skills in action, and a much better idea of what he’ll be up against. If the earlier footage reminded you of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, then this new trailer is going to have you seeing double – right down to a bearded Amell looking an awful lot like a prison-dwelling, pre-cowl Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale)." - ScreenRant

This is a Smallville spinoff right? Too bad they didn't keep the same actor for Green Arrow.

This! I would've preferred that they just used the Green Arrow from Smallville, but it's their choice to make. I guess we'll see how it all turns out.

From what I understand, this is not a spin-off, but it's own unique series.

I like that they're using a variation of the Green Arrow costume from Mike Grell's Longbow Hunters like Smallville did.

I bet the show won't last a whole season.

Saw it. Kinda meh. Clearly Smallville had a lot of influence in the tone and storytelling. Cliched comic story. Basically its Bruce Wayne. And his mom is scheming behind the scenes. Nothing you haven't seen before.

I agree, it was meh. But'll I'll be watching it to see how long it'll last.
Plus I'm digging Katie Cassidy: Dinah Laurel Lance, damn my weakness for brunettes with blue/green eyes :D

I decided to take the plunge and have enjoyed all 3 episodes so far. I like the darker tone as well as the slow reveal of Ollie's time on the island. I'll be following it for the rest of the season.

I never followed Smallville so I can't say if that Green Arrow would have been better cast but I think Stephen Amell is doing a solid job so far. I like the fact he can do most of the stunts so they can film longer takes rather than relying on quick cuts.

I'm interested in seeing Deathstroke and the reimagined Royal Flush Gang. Too bad Deadshot was one and done, though.

So far so good. I didn't see the character on Smallville, so I didn't have a frame of reference. I'm curious to see how the characters develop. Will (Dinah) Laurel become Black Canary? If so, hope she goes for the classic look! Loved how his sister is "Speedy" and already has a drug/alcohol problem. Can't wait to see who else pops up.

So, apparently we're getting Huntress and Firefly, as well as the Royal Flush Gang. It'll be interesting to see who's in the Gang. Will his mom be the Queen?

Wow...diggin' deep into the GA supporting cast with some of these guest stars. Looks like a major departure for the character barring some reversals, though.

Haven't watched the latest episode yet, but liking the show so far.

Yes, cliched comic book stories for the most part. But it's enjoyable and well done. And can say that about pretty much every show on TV.

Like the reveal that the island was more then just an abandoned island. Interesting and entertaining characters.

It's made it into the regular viewing rotation.

Agreed. I enjoyed the first 3 more than the last 2 but overall the series is one of the few I watch regularly. They're starting to fall into the CW trend of angsty romance now that Ollie has been back in the world for a few weeks. His friend Merlin has been absent so they can explore Ollie's relationship with Laurel.

The idea of the island having all these secrets and revealing them slowly is in interesting element, one that makes the series more enjoyable to watch.

I've read Manhunter, Huntress, and Royal Flush Gang will be in the series this season. And we saw Deathstroke last night and Deadshot a couple weeks ago. Also threw in a Bludhaven mention in one episode, so it's pulling from the DC Universe, which is a nice touch.

It definitely has a Nolan Batman feel where the characters are more real world based - more honed talent than super ability. Being a Nolan Batman fan, perhaps that's another reason I like the show.

The prison in Starling City (hate that name) is Iron Heights, which is the name of the prison in Central City (Flash).

I liked last episode with Deathstroke in it, and the fact that I feel he will make at least one if not more future appearances. I don't like the fact that I get a Smallville relationship vibe going on between Ollie and Laurel. It's not that I think it's bad. I guess it's just that I think it went on for far to long in Smallville, and I don't really want to see them go to far with it. I'd also like to ask if anyone thinks that his house is the same one Lex used in Smallville? It looks very similar to me, but it's been a while since I've seen Lex's castle.

Good catch. I missed that reference. My DC knowledge is poor compared to Marvel.

I never saw Smallville but have read comments on other sites where people claim it is the same house/castle/mansion.

Thoughts on last weeks episode:

1. They love their easter-eggs on this show. So far we've had name-drops for Iron Heights, the Corto Maltese, and Bludhaven.

2. "Edward Fyers?" They're really diggin' deep into the Arrow mythology for that one. Wonder if his character arc will be similar. Doesn't look too much like it at this point, though.

3. Deathstroke was extremely disappointing so far. His brief fight seen was good, but Deathstroke is so much more than just a menacing masked thug. I fear they're going to end up doing this character a serious disservice turning him into nothing but "muscle." I hold out some small hope that he'll get some dialogue and turn out to be a properly fleshed-out character but...we'll see. Also: Notice he had both eyes in the flashbacks....I think we're getting set up for a "present day" appearance.

4. I like the show, but I think I threw up a little in my mouth when Laurel delivered the "Nothing can happen between us" line. Seriously CW? You -had- to drop one of the dumbest cliches in the book? You guys were doing fine with the pair running hot and cold due to Ollie's behavior, you really didn't need the teenage angst bomb.

5. Starting to look like Thea might be right behind Digg in figuring out Ollie's identity.

6. I'm starting to dig Walter (Ollie's stepdad), though part of that is just liking the actor playing him. Still, I hope he's not being set up for a quick kill-off, because it's kind of cool seeing a reasonably honest businessman trying to do right by both his business and family.

they are using the same location as Smallville. you see a lot of familiar places since the both shoot in Vancover, along with alot of other shows(Dark Angel, SG1, BSG, etc)

Yup, we got Huntress in two episodes and she'll be back for more.

I liked that the last episode told us a little bit more about Ollie's story on the Island.

Deathstroke's last appearance was great he really took it to Ollie. I almost wished that they would've had even more time together. DS vs. Ollie looks like some thing that will go on for quite a while throughout the length of the series. To this point he has been just muscle, but that last reveal certainly indicates that there's more to him. These two will meet again. :)

Thea's still getting close to piecing everything together. I like Walter but his wife is a piece of work, and Tommy's dad takes the cake. I like Digg as Ollie's confidant; he needs someone to keep him focused. I just wish he could've found out about Helena before Ollie went too far in revealing things to her that he shouldn't have.

We still have yet to get to the scene with Deathstrokes mask on some kind of stake/arrow/stick. It was shown as part of the season preview hyping the show leading up to the first episode. I figure we'll get there by season's end. It might make for a good final episode since the island story can mirror the Starling City story.

I've kind of stopped watching lately. Just been busy. I think I'll skip the rest of the season and just buy the blu ray when it comes out. I like it enough to justify that already.

And yeah, it's the same mansion. It was also used in the X-Men movies. You really notice it in that first episode where he comes home and his sister is walking down the stairs. That's right where Wolverine jumped off and killed the soldiers in X2.

Yeah that is Castle Luthor. It is required to have one morally ambiguous parent.

Haven't watched the mid-season finale yet. It's on the DVR. I liked Helena. They really followed the Huntress character perfectly, as she's always been the toeing-the-line member of the Bat family.

Haha, I was going to do the same thing. I stopped buying them after the 6th season I think. But I was a big fan of the high-school years of the show.

I'd swear that I read that the kid that played Pete Ross is in prison.

Call it a hunch, but I'm pretty sure that the Huntress will be back before the season is over with.

Also, while Helena annoyed me in her first episode, she seemed to be having a lot more fun in the second.

I also like the way they have included elements of Conor Hawkes Character here.....great touch.

Last nights episode was great! I was pleasantly surprised to see that Manu Bennett (a.k.a. Crixus) of Spartacus was in this episode, and we will see him in at least one more before the season ends. There were some great reveals in this episode, and it ended with a great cliff hanger, which will lead into what I'm anticipating as another great episode next week.
