View Full Version : Figures Nightwing, Joe-styled

Nightwing is one I've been planning on for a long time. Since I still prefer even my heroes to mostly be more Joe scaled than MU scaled (with exceptions), finding the right parts was tough. He had to be bigger than my Robin, shorter than Batman, and be dressed in a way that evoked more than just images of spandex.

Then I found Retaliation Zartan. Really was just what I needed. The legs didn't work - too tall, and unarticulated. So I swapped those for Retaliation Snake Eyes. Little bit of paint here and there (the chest emblem largely just matches the existing sculpt), and I think it's good.

I might get a second head and sculpt on a mask. But for now, since I prefer unmasked for some guys, he'll just use the removable goggles (unless the majority view is that they look goofy).

Awesome. I started painting my Ret Zartan this last weekend for my Nightwing custom. I may steal your idea for the legs too. I agree that the ones that come on Zartan make him a lot taller.

I like the goggles idea (maybe repaint some 25th comic pack firefly goggles).
What head did you use for Nightwing?

I like the goggles idea (maybe repaint some 25th comic pack firefly goggles).
What head did you use for Nightwing?

I almost think these started out as 25th Firefly goggles? Iron Will suggested the yellow tinted Ripcord goggles, so I may go and try multiple alternatives.

The head is a modified version of Tycho Celchu from Star Wars.

The fun part for me was that it's the same head I use for my Green Arrow, and I wanted to see if I could distinguish it:

I think his eye holes are too far apart
everything else looks awesome I love the faithful yet militant translation,kinda reminds me of my own work :)

Sorry for the late reply. Batman is a Night Adder body, Movie Batman head, plus a lot of scultping and other bits. I need to update his pics soon, as I have a new unmasked head and a ton of gear to go with him.

Here is my update to Nightwing:

New head, extra gear on belt, new sticks (that now have a place on his belt) new unmasked head, new legs (the rocker ankles were hindering his articulation, given the lack of a swivel joint anywhere in the leg of the Ret. Snake Eyes legs).

I love the masked nightwing (winter soldier) head, but really dislike the legs you put on him. I've always had a thing against how a bunch of the ROC legs made the knees too low. It makes it look like his pants are falling down. "Damn kid, pull up your pants" (in an old man voice)
