Final Thoughts
The Ninja Dojo Beachhead is a very good Beachhead figure. And that's simultaneously his strength and his weakness. Fans of Beachhead will really dig what Hasbro has done here, as the figure captures his no-nonsense character perfectly. But if you're not a fan of the character or you prefer your Joes with a bit more sparkle then you'll probably be left cold by this figure.

Personally I'm a fan of the character of Beachhead, as I've always liked his more serious approach and attitude, so for me this figure not only captures that perfectly but also provides the perfect counter to those who argue that the Retaliation line is only filled with toys for kids. This is a serious, no-nonsense, gimmick-free GI Joe straight from the Pursuit of Cobra line-up.

An excellent execution of a solid, stoic character design.

Final Score: A-

As an ''old school'' Joe he's definitely up there, although I have to admit a fondness for the single carded Zartan, too (even if he does have Retaliation Syndrome.)

I swapped out all the green pieces (knee pads, handgun and silencer) with black pieces and gave him Kamakuras webgear with the machete. I absolutely love this figure. It may not be the best Beachead representation, (i think I have read complaints about the light green here) but figure wise, it rocks. But I am a dork for any figure that has that handgun/silencer combo on his leg and a ton of extra guns.

I'm considering switching out some of his weaponry - I'm sure I've plenty of applicable gear in my spares box. But even without the swaps he's still very cool.

Yeah, I have an old Sand Razor without a pilot (the Dusty that came with it is very old school Joe and looks odd beside my other figures) so I think I've just found a new driver...

The color in person is odd - the paleness just seems to drain any character out of the figure.

I have the same issue with the Steel Brigade Delta figure.

I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I haven't compared them.

I have the same issue with the Steel Brigade Delta figure.

I can see why it might detract but I see it more of - as I said - some kind of new, environment-specific scheme, which I dig.

I just think he looks bland, I never even noticed in pics the camo, really hard to see, but it's too light IMO and makes him look like he is all one color. A bit more contrast would make him somewhat interesting to me.

That is exactly what I did, peep my avatar... Best Beachhead yet!

I kind of dig the uniformity of his coloring, as it suits the character IMO. But I can see how he might get a bit lost.

Not a bad figure. I gave him the SB vest because the colors match exactly and I painted his belt buckle and the straps on his leg holsters silver.

*sigh*

Hasbro keeps using the same legs. Good figure but same...legs.

Hehe. True. But at least they're good legs.

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. And I think Beachhead will always be a bit of an understated kind of figure, but that works, as that's the kind of guy he is.

swapping that webgear out for kamakura's is a great idea.

Looks nice on the Beachhead. Too bad I traded my Kamakura webgear away yesterday. :(

This one's a winner if for nothing else finally getting a passable Soviet chest rig.
