I know there are all kinds of collecting criteria. For example, I would consider myself a Cobra figure completist. Whenever I buy a vehicle, I'm really only after the figure. I'm not all that concerned with the vehicles. Are any of you collectors mainly after the vehicles for your Joe fix? Any Joe or cobra vehicle completists out there?

I'm by no means a completest, but I do find myself buying more vintage vehicles than figures so does that count? Although I never really get rid of the drivers.

On the new stuff i mainly want the vehicles. I dont really care for the driver figures unless they are a good representation of a arah character.

The Retaliation figures suck! If they had normal articulation the would be pretty cool, but I can't handle only being able to move the arms and legs back and forth.

I plan to convert the Arashikage VAMP as my shock Trooper armored transport.

I'm a vehicle guy with Retaliation. I want a few figures, but I had to have a Fangboat and Hiss. Rise of Cobra vehicles were better than the figures as well. Dollar General figures, Retaliation vehicles!

I have more planes than pilots in my current collection (of course, very few joes outside of dedicated pilots can fly in mine)

I'm not a completeist, but feel compelled to buy a larger and larger airforce.

I'm even looking into getting one of the VvV skysweepers....

I usually get the vehicles that come with figures or the ones I really think look pretty cool. With these Retaliation ones, I am passing completely on them. The figures look great, but the lack of the articulation kills them for me. The Swamp Viper and the CC with the HISS looked cool.

Which wave is that re-worked VAMP, and the Ripper tank set for release? Wave 2?

Vehicle guy right here!

And apparently Im a subconcious completeist! I've noticed that even if I dont like the vehicle I will buy it for the sake of modding it.

I love the POC & 30th figures and the vintage vehicles. I was checking out YoJoe.com's new vehicle archive and admiring those early vehicles. They really lost me somewhere along the way with all the weird stuff, but at this point I'm more into vintage vehicles than anything else.

Don't say that too loud. My wife might hear you! That's how I ended up with a Dildo Moccasin (I have plans for that dildo gun!) and Ghost Hawk II. So far, I can pass on the AWE Striker, and the POC HISS Scout is crappy enough to kill ANY desire I have for a cheaper version of it.

I have two HISSes, one will be out fitted with working donor treads from a HISS V or Scout, whichever ones work the best. I'm thinking of doing some Captain America and Iron Man to Joe vehicle customs.

If Hasbro combined the HISS V body front, middle weapons mounts and rear troop hatch with the HISS VI upper rear weapons platform, that would be the ultimate HISS IMO, because that's probably beyond my ability to make myself.

I only buy the vehicles and the use my ARAH figures with them. I've no interest in the new sculpt figs. Luckily my 3 yr old son loves them!

I'm not into the vehicles much at all.
I'm a figure man for sure.
Storage is the biggest reason.
Gotta love the 3 3/4 scale figures for that.

That said I do have a lot of ARAH vehicles still, simply for sentimental reasons.
The new stuff just doesn't interest me. Then throw in a figure with practicly no articulation...
The only ROC/POC vehicles I bought were for the figures mostly.

I do not think of myself as a completest, but I do lean more toward the figures than the vehicles. I do not leave drivers in the vehicles. I want the driver to stand (or pose) on its own.

When I buy vehicles, I usually only buy vehicles that I really want regardless of the figure. Occasionally, there will be a figure I really want packaged with a vehicle. When possible, I have bought or traded to get the figures loose. If not, I will wait until the "financial stars" align (clearance, sales, etc.) and buy the vehicle. More than once, I have found that I like the vehicle better than I thought I would.

With the new limited articulation for vehicle drivers, the situation is more or less reversed. The figures actually discourage my purchasing of vehicles.

The only Retaliation vehicle I have bought is the HISS Tank. I find that I really like the tank, but the Cobra Commander is total crap to me. I like the armor, the paint, and the detail sculpting, but the lack of articulation and poseablity(sp?) ruins it for me. I will have to really want the vehicles in the rest of the line before I will buy another one.

I know the general feeling on all of the drivers is that they are crap. Just coming back to the hobby in the last few years, I've never picked up an AWE Striker. 5-point SE, aside... what's the feeling on the Retaliation 4x4 ? Is the vehicle worth the $15 price point ?

No, but not due to the price - which has been the price for the AWE Striker for a while now (granted, usually with at least a better figure!) - but due to silliness of the repaint. If you don't own one, buy it. I have numerous from the Target exclusive to the retail desert version to the more recent PoC tan and black. Any of those had a nice, well articulated driver - Crankcase, Leatherneck, and Night Fox.

If you do not already have an 25th/Modern AWE Striker, I think it is worth $15 unless you want to hunt down one of the previous modern versions. I have the modern green (25th Target exclusive), the tan (25th), and the black (POC) versions. They are all very well done but very similar. The Retaliation version has some new design elements to make it different from the previous versions, but it is too similar for me to spend another $15 to get it.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. They're not evaporating off the shelves, so I think I can ponder it a while longer. That said, I do appreciate the insight.

I'm mainly a vehicle guy. I like the figures too, but I really love vehicles, be it Star Wars or GI Joe, or any other brand. Love the new Humvee-like Vamp mold that we got a few years ago.
