people are shitting their pants all ove the net because Iron Patriot isnt Norman Osborne.....Jesus he doesnt need to be yknow?
given the tone of IM2 with some elements in the Govt being anti Stark,IP is the perfect way to go here.in the absence of Justin Hammer,A.I.M.(who are also on board) has obviously stepped into that void and stole some Stark Tech and given these shady types an all american IM to market.
add Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin and we are all good.we seen the Mandarins outfit in IM so its great to finally see him.
Shane Black will do a great job here.also the build for Avengers II starts here!!

IM 3 was announced before the Avengers wasn't it? Or at the least, the exact same time. I would like to see the Mandarin. The Ten Rings Conspiracy feeding money to Vanko as it was implied in the IM2 book actually made it a better story than the movie turned out to be.
As for the Iron Patriot. Well, all I've seen is one photo that could be a stunt double hanging out for all I know.
Um....isnt anyone worried that Jon Favreau isnt directing this??

From Ain't It Cool News:
There Is NO Iron Patriot In IRON MAN 3!!
Published at: Jun 08, 2012 11:36:46 PM CDT
The Kidd here...
So it doesn't look like Iron Patriot is going to be a part of IRON MAN 3 after all.
After speculation ran rampant over the character's involvement following set pics of armor that looked exactly like that of Iron Patriot, Latino Review reports that no such appearance is in the works, and that the character we saw on-set was none other than War Machine with a star-spangled paint job.
Clearly the confusion arose by someone who wasn't Don Cheadle wearing the armor, but then again, it turns out it wasn't James Badge Dale either. It was simply a stunt man giving those two actors some time off.
"The U.S. Government has had their hands on this Stark suit for awhile, and apparently they’ve decided to make it more patriotic" is the explanation for the shift in color scheme, so now you know, while it may look like Iron Patriot, it's simply more War Machine in the next IRON MAN sequel.

He is still going to be in the movie reprising his role as Happy Hogan. I'm sure he will have some input about the direction of the movie, one way or another.
From Ain't It Cool News:

Agreed. I think this is a cop out. The studio did not want to give anything away so soon and they probably did not expect these set of pictures to come out this early.

I really did not think so. Although IM/Tony Stark had more exposure than Captain America and Thor, I think if anybody stole the show it was Hulk and I believe majority of those who saw the movie would agree with me.

Avengers was Iron Man 3?fuck no.....
yeah making Iron Patriot(which that picture is clearly intended to be)a War Machine repaint in bull.it will be confirmed next Feb/March that the it is indeed Iron Patriot
My speculation is the Eric Savin is a US soldier inside the Iron Patriot armor (even though it's not called Iron Patriot). He is severly injured either through a suit malfunction or in a combat situation. His injuries are so severe, they require him to have cybernetic replacements. His new body, coupled with his traumatic injuries, cause him to go insane and blame Tony Stark for his current situation. He adopts the name Coldblood (or hopefully something better) and the battles Iron Man.
... we seen the Mandarins outfit in IM so its great to finally see him.
I missed that. Which scene?

Man they should've gotten Jon Chu for this movie. His movies have been phenomenal. He's the king of action movies. Did you see the bad ass action scenes from Justin Bieber: Never Say Never? Or what about that dance offs in Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D? Or all the great stuff he did in Retaliation?

For anyone who has NOT seen Iron Man 3. Please go back and leave this page until you do. And for those of you who have seen the movie PLEASE understand this....
that just because the twist in Iron Man 3 made Aldrich Killian the film's true main antagonist along with the character saying that he is the Mandarin does NOT mean he really is the Mandarin. NO, because it only meant that he was the bad guy that Tony was really after and not only did he NOT were 10 rings on his fingers like the official Mandarin and did not posess all the powers the Mandarin has. Only one so lets take a good look at more of the Information below.
After seeing Iron Man 3, Aldrich Killian, creator of the Extrmis virus did inject the serum into himself and become super fast and strong like Savin, Taggert, Brant and all the other test subjects but by injecting the Extremis virus into himself not only does he have healing abilities which gives him speed and strength but also the ability to breath fire from his mouth like a dragon which turns him NOT into the Mandarin but into an "Extremis enchanced" version of this supervillain
FIREBRAND
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y540/mark_marino1/2669913-ohotmu_iron_man__1___page_20_zpsdee1dc35.jpg (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/mark_marino1/media/2669913-ohotmu_iron_man__1___page_20_zpsdee1dc35.jpg.html)
and to help prove my theory is specific enough for all of you to understand take a look at this picture of the character and Firebrand below
http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y540/mark_marino1/vlcsnap-2013-04-22-14h01m36s165_zps6e49960f.png (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/mark_marino1/media/vlcsnap-2013-04-22-14h01m36s165_zps6e49960f.png.html)
Now you will notice that on the top part of the picture are Aldrich Killian from Iron Man 3 and Firebrand from the 1994 animated series and that on the bottom part of the picture both Killian and Firebrand from Iron Man Armored Adventures are breathing fire from their mouths. Plus with Killian regenerating his left arm like lave flowing out of a volcano and with glowing like lava and by melting the spot on the Iron Man armor in between the neck and the chest piece, Firebrand really does fit Aldrich Killian's Extremis ego and if Firebrand was never really Aldrich Killian or an Extremis based character that can regenerate limbs so what? Consider Killian in the movie as a new version of Firebrand otherwise you'll just be making the situation worse for everyone else, including yourselves.
Afterall we all know that wth Aldrich Killian appearing as a fire weilding Extremis Maniac, he does appear to be a more improved Firebrand than some cheap and unwanted knockoff of a Mandarin and Firebrand did have a grudge against Tony Stark

If they wanted him to be Firebrand, they would've made him Firebrand.
The original Extremis subject (Mallen) could breathe fire in the comics.

Thank you. OP's theory get's an A for effort but ultimately, it's a different take on Warren Ellis' story with the movie-verse Killian living and thriving from the creation/release of Extremis rather than his suicide and Tony battling Extremis infected Mallan.

My take was that when Killian said he was the real "Mandarin", he didn't literally mean he was the Mandarin as a named character.
He meant that he was THE person responsible for all of the events that were taking place and blamed on the fictional Mandarin character that he created.

You could also make an argument he was the Melter, but he was simply himself IMO....it is just the movie-verse taking liberties.
Just go with the fact that you didn't like the choices made in the script and move on like me. It didn't ruin the franchise like Spider-Man 3........it just took it out of contention for BEZT.TRILOJIE.EVAH. Which is fine ;)

I'm really torn. It's a good movie bordering on great, but the action wasn't all that.
As a giant raging comic book nerd, I can completely understand some of the disappointment some folks are having with certain things: The big twist potentially ruins a character, and of all the Marvel movies so far besides Iron Man 1, this one feels the most removed from the rest of the Cinematic Marvel Universe. There are far fewer easter eggs and "world building" things going on here.
However, on the latter part, I can't help but see that as a good thing. One of the major complaints from some corners where the first string of Marvel movies were concerned was that all of them except Iron Man 1 felt like 2-hour commercials for the Avengers. If they can make their franchises successful on an independent basis, it's better for the long-term health of the MCU. Where the "twist" was concerned, yeah it potentially ruins a character but at the same time gives us a -fantastic- performance from a veteran actor.
But that still doesn't mean I wasn't a little bit disappointed at the general lack of Easter Eggs....

I thought it was great......loved what they done with it.wasnt crazy about the twist but it wasn't a deal breaker by any means.
Id say marvel and Disney are doing the jig......it has passed 700 mill worldwide already.well on course to join Avengers in the billion $$ Club.also 2nd biggest opening ever in the U.S. too.
I enjoyed it overall. No real complaints other than perhaps the end credits easter egg being more of a foundation for Avengers 2.
I enjoyed the story structure more than the previous 2 films. I felt like we always knew more than Tony in IM & IM2. With IM3 we're learning things as Tony learns them so it makes for a more enjoyable ride this time around.
I was hoping for more time in the suit. When we got to the Skydive saves and the final battle, all that pent up excitment waiting for Tony to do heroic things in the suit paid off. Those were two excellent scenes.
Can we talk spoilers here? I will but with invisotext (highlight to read).
I'm fine with the Mandarin being a junkie stage actor. Marvel Studios were never going to use the 10 rings as presented in the comics so to have Tony battle an ordinary terrorist is anti-climatic. Plus it saves Ben Kingsley from having to do action scenes and gave him some nice lines to chew on.
Making Aldrich Killian the main bad guy and using Extremis was a great move. I don't think the comic audience wanted another Mech on Mech battle, especially after the lackluster execution of the last 2 movies final battles.
One thing I didn't like is how curing Pepper of Extremis was just a side note. I was rather surprised they injected her (Gweneth is quite an action star!) and I was excited at the prospect of seeing her cope with Extremis.
I'm fine with the twists and making Killian the main baddie. Based on the way the last 2 Iron Man movies ended, I didn't want to see another Mech on Mech battle. The final fights in the last 2 were the weakest parts of the movie, IMO.

Exactly. Movies are movies, comics are comics. They don't all have to be exact translations. You can't translate the Mandarin directly to the big screen. You just can't. It would be ridiculous. I was happy considering Raza as the Mandarin in the first film, simply because his group was called the Ten Rings.
Seeing Killian in Iron Man 3 made me wish they had tried The Molten Man as a villain in a Spider-Man movie.
The way I see it Raza and the Ten Rings were defeated by Tony Stark. Killian caught wind through official and unofficial outlets. He seized an opportunity in their defeat and took it to another level by creating the Mandarin as the public face of terror, all the while sowing his seed of deceit, corruption, and power.
My home grown little back story helps me to link IM to IM3 and complete the circle.
My only complaint is that the human bombs should have been purposeful rather than accidental. Create terror without any ability to detect it.
Yeah, they seemed to be a bit too low key. Due probably to the fact that the bombers didn't know what would happen. Maybe there's a deleted scene showing more of them. They probably should have been a bit more public to make people think Stark was involved somehow, or at least the Iron Man tech was.
As I was watching the film, when Killian was monologuing, he reminded me of Destro in Rise of Cobra, playing both sides behind the scenes and installing his own world leader as his puppet.

My favorite is IM1. Didn't care too much for IM2 and I liked IM3 even less. In IM3 I didn't like the terrorist angle, I didn’t like the Pepper angle, I didn’t like anything about how they did the Mandarin character. Overall even IM didn’t seem like IM to me in this movie. I loved Avengers and IM in that movie, but for me IM3 is a big miss.
