Monday bought 3 figs(red ninja, cobra trooper, joe trooper) and the ninja showdown set and it cost me 53 bucks @ Target. 1st day the toys came out in my area, bought HISS tank, Fang boat, cobra trooper (so roughly 47 bucks including tax) then bought Zartan, black CC, red ninja, another cobra trooper on sun (roughly 44 bucks). then add the blue CC I bought @ a collectible store a month before the toys were to hit my area for 15 bucks(no tax). so total 159 dollars.

I've bought a Red Ninja and the Showdown 3-pack, so $30 + tax. If someone wants the SE and SS, they're unwanted and available. I thought about picking up a Joe Trooper but at $10 Hasbro can keep it. Would have bought the Dojo set for Kamakura, thought long and hard about it whilst standing in the store probably looking really creepy, but in the end I confirmed that what I really wanted was a v1/DD Kamakura. The bland greenish gray thing in the box just wasn't going to cut it.

So I finally picked up a HISS Tank and a Joe Trooper. I like the HISS Tank, aside from a few minor complaints, the largest being the color. But that I can fix. The figure that came with it pisses me off however. I'd have rather not received a figure at all. Now I've got this unbending lump of plastic that I can't use with the rest of my collection.

The Joe Trooper is nice. Like everyone else says, the plastic feels like a lesser quality, but only just so. I won't use it as a troop, but not sure what he'll be used as. He will get some paint apps.


So I've spent around $30, which is excessive considering I got one vehicle and one figure that I'll have to tweak to be happy with. But looking ahead from what we've seen at Joecon, there are more figures I can look forward to picking up. I really hope the prices can return to a more reasonable price range.

I've only spent $9 for a red ninja, I am not pleased with much else (Although I would buy some of the 3-packs and HISS if I ever saw them, that is another story). I blew a ton of money on 30th, so what I am saying is if the quality is there I will go with it, I just don't feel it is at this point (HOwever, later waves look much improved, although I doubt I will grab yet another SE, Duke, ect).

I don't have an infinite amount of expendable income, so yes, I'm going to complain about the rising price costs. Especially when they come with throwaway lumps of plastic. I want to collect, but as prices increase it's harder to rationalize expanding my collection. I'll never understand people that just lay back and accept things as just how it is. You don't think Star wars and Transformers collectors complain just as much? I don't see it as being cheap - I seek out bargains and lower prices anytime I have to make a purchase, be it fuel, groceries, clothes or other necessities. Otherwise, you're just throwing away money. Which doesn't seem a wise choice to me.

I mean, I just know that I never got more than maybe 12 ROC figures, and now I have maybe 6 remaining. Some are good quality and decent designs of course, but they kind of feel, IDK--obsolete, passed over, failed, transitional, irrelevant--design and concept wise.

We'll see how the Retaliation designs settle into the broader scope of Joe. I want some stuff with real staying power, some stuff that will stick. I'll get cherry picking again in 2013, methinks.
