View Full Version : Whatever Happened to the Fan Club Figure Subscription Service?

Last I heard, we would be able to order the Fan Club subscription figures the first week of May. But that passed and there has been no word from the club. Did I miss something? It would be nice to at least know the price ahead of time so we could plan for it!

This was supposed to be up and ready last year around the end of Summer or sometime around there, wouldn't get my hopes up for it happening anytime soon :(

You're a detective, you're suppose to be finding this stuff out for us. :)

Turns out the 13 th figure was the nothing from the never ending story, which ate all the rest of the figures for the sub.

They will be launched along with SK Omega when MCAX.com is up and running again.

Nope, they said the Subscription signup will be up and ready along with the convention signup for the con sets and attending crap. Never happened though but the con signups did.

They can take as long as they want.. Saves me money..

Originally they were suppose to go up at the same time the con set went up but I'm sure they knew this would be bad so they pushed it off. Sure we'll find something out at the con. September would be a good time for sign up and the figures could start in Jan. that would be ideal..

What's frustrating to me about this delay is that I specifically signed up for the club in order to have access to the subscription service. At this point, it looks like the sub might go into the NEXT subscription period, making me feel like I wasted a year's membership fee.

It's obviously not been ideal that the FFS still hasn't come out, but if you really feel like your membership has been a waste, why don't you just sell your Footloose and make back triple what you paid for the membership?

I already sold him. (Got a little less than double.) Nice toy, but Footloose just isn't a character I'm enthused about. And I'm not saying the membership is a waste; I just wish they would maintain their promises or at least give an update. The magazine is nice, but I wouldn't normally have signed up if not for wanting to be in the loop for the subscription service.

Well the truth is the club really hasn't been able to sort out stuff since the meltdown with Credit Card numbers compromised.

GRANTED I don't know what they have been doing since, considering this stuff happened late last year early this year, and were heading closer to this being a year of not sorted out yet. Yeah ok they seem to have acknowledged a problem and tossed up a site for the store, but that seems to be the only answer they have.

I would honestly say FSS like the club store is in limbo...and to be honest I can not for the life of me figure out why. Subscription figure is done.
Convention and all that swag is now done.

So no news is just puzzling.

While im not crazy about these figs, i still want them and am looking forward to them, they have grown on me a bit more since we have had to wait so long, im really curious as to who the 13th fig will be.

Not sure what happened to it. I lost interest fairly early. I was more excited for the later Retaliation waves.

This! But I'm glad- because my interest level in the figures is gone. If they had dropped it when the figure reveals were happening I would have jumped in- now I've had long enough to think about it and weigh the presumed cost (high) with the need/want (low) and I'm solidly in the "no thanks" side of the fence. :) I got a swell Footloose figure out of it anyways though :)

I Hasbro had their heads on straight they pulled the plug on this crap months ago. What they potentially wanted for those figures was absolutely ridiculous. I hope this thing is dead and buried so that no club can hold unreleased figures over our heads for unreasonable prices from a shady, unsafe company.

Since they had all these problems and people that were on the fence about the subscription are still hesitant, and with the other drama they have had watch the mysterious figure be one that every one wants. Just to F' with every one. Watch the 13th figure be Kwinn...

If I was Hasbro I would take these figures that's probably sitting in a wear house and use them as a mass release filler wave until they can get product moving again.

I lost interest in the Sub. I will not be buying into it. The club still has to prove to me that they will be safe with my info. Right now they have not.

Honestly I am very very disapointed in the way they wen't and promised to release the 13 figures and I can't even access the store when I log into the site.. My magazine said they straightened this crap out.. As far as the Footloose I think it is a great figure to add to my collection he fell right in like he belonged there the entire time... now make Kwinn the 13th figure and ship them all right to my door!!

THe email I just received from the club didn't say anything about the FSS. I wonder if it will be available when the store comes back up. It will be interesting to see.

I never bought into the whole "fan club" thing. I don't need a special club to be a fan. Just like I don't need those AFA retards telling me how nice my packaging is. All I need is Hasbro to produce the figures & a store that can keep them in stock. Unfortunately that's asking too much.

I'd imagine the FSS will reappear not too long after they get the store back up and running. This next month or two represents the best time to launch this year (After all the major conventions, before heavy holiday spending kicks in).

But I also wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again for whatever reason. I do believe it WILL happen (pretty sure the Club's already paid for the new tooling on those figs), but it's up in the air as to exactly when.

Hasbro has nothing to do with these except approving that the club can produce these figures. These are not sitting in a warehouse somewhere with 1000s of each figure wtg.

According to Club staff at COn that I was able to talk to, the subscription service was almost ready to roll out around Con registration, they held off so as not to give people interested in both the double whammy. They were planning on holding off on the sub registration until they have the Club store fully up and running. It is on the way, and sooner rather than later.

^^^ The club staff also said that these won't begin the manufacturing process until after the subscription process has ended, so they have a set number to make.

Also, the Club has stated that they will make some extra of each, except the mystery figure. Once replacements for factory f-ups are done, the extras will go on the Club store, at a higher price than the subscription price, and when they're gone, they're gone.

It makes sense that news of the subscription will resurface once the store is back up and running. And I realize that the credit card leak was a major hurdle. However, I think the Club should have kept us in the loop about what was going on, especially as they advertised and teased the subscription figures so heavily. I can't be the only one that jumped on board with a membership upon seeing that.

Granted, part of the reason I joined was that the last communications about the service made it seem like the Club would announce the sale date to subscribed members like a day before they actually went on sale, and I did not want to miss out. And they still had yet to announce the pricing so we could budget for it. Honestly, all the communication about this sub has been lacking. I've even emailed the Club a couple times in recent months and got no response.

I really want to do this, but no word on price has me assuming that it will be outrageous.

Jim_Beutel

It depends on your definition of "outrageous".

$25-30 for a limited run Club exclusive figure, to me, isn't outrageous. $45-50 directly from the Club may be.

Well, with the rising price of action figures to around $10 for retail, $25 for an exclusive is a little more palatable. Sad but true.

Outrageous was and will always be defined as winning 6 grammy awards at one show, as accomplished by Lionel Richie.

For me, the most desired figure in this batch is Cover Girl. There are many great characters in the sub, imho, but she's the one I would really miss if the price for the whole thing ends up being too much to bear. I mean, I guess I could be satisfied with my Sparta from Joecon.
