Retaliation Snake Eyes Wave 2 review

I guess this will be my first review LOL so be gentle. I just couldn't wait to give some feedback on this figure so here goes.

Today I received a few figures from our China colleagues. Among those was the Snake Eyes figure that I really wanted from this line. I decided to buy it from abroad since we won't be seeing many of those in retail if any for the next 9 months.

This figure is a movie accurate figure one of the few we've seen so far. In terms of articulation hasbro didn't go cheap on this one although the figure brings those silly hook things to attach in the back.

All the known articulation points are there including the hands and feet. So hasbro didn't go cheap on our favorite Ninja guy. For me he looks like a Sigma 6 version minus the head but I'm planning to give him the alternate Zartan head and see how it looks like.

In terms of accessories we have the belt which can carry a very small pistol and a knife on the other side. Mine had 1 extra knife and sword which can't go anywhere not sure if the packed version will be like this. Most likely you will get one of each only. The sword goes into a sheath and the sheath into some sort of backpack.

Overall I'm very happy with the figure the downsides are the belt (it doesn't go in so tight so he might slide up the figure quite easily but most of all not sure if its something I like to see on him), and the lack of a Uzi gun. Also that second "backpack makes him look weird luckily you don't have to use it since you can remove the sheath and use only that.

I got this figure mostly because of his Sigma inspiration which can turn into a very accurate 4'' Sigma 6 SE with the use of that Zartan alternate head. Still its just an assumption since I'm still waiting for that head to arrive. EDIT: arrived today :D

I really like this figure. I think the POC Snake Eyes makes a great commando version. But this makes an ideal look for the visor head. Might end up tossing a bandolier across mine when I eventually get one.

Yap I agree with that the POC is awesome specially for all the gear and detail but is a commando above all I don't even consider the 2nd head just because of that.

he's not beyond fixing though he's got some decent parts here and there.I'd like his swords if they weren't those colors..

Most of the pics are out of focus making it hard to see. Did you use the macro mode on your camera/phone? Some back lighting might help too. Also curious if the belt/holster for the pistol look like the one attached to the joe trooper backpack. I know the firefly figure uses the same holsters on his legs.

The figure does come with two swords and knives. Also looks like an mp5 with silencer.

Ye the legs are a bit skinny I noticed that even before having him thought of replacing them but now I won't do it probably its ok as it is. I like the swords also but I guess its a matter of taste. What I don't like is that brown on his shoulders but I will probably paint him grey there or something. Most of all is an close to movie figure.

awesome review!! thanks so much. would you be able to take a really well lit photo of his head facing forward? every photo anyone takes of this figure has him looking slightly to the side and I cant tell if his eye mask comes to a point at the bottom or is rounded.

I really like this SE. I like the one we have in Wave 1 enough as a new version of SE, but nowhere near as much as I want this one. The movie likeness is spot on and light years ahead of the design from RoC.

Got mine in the mail today. I'm pretty disappointed in him. He seems a bit short and skinny to me, I definitely prefer the Wave 1 SE.

He is not short I compared today its the same height of wave 1 as for being skinny maybe its because of his legs, his arms are normal.

You may be right. The legs are definitely skinny, but I do like the arms. Something seems off about the torso to me though.

I love his mask and actually like how skinny he looks; reminds me of how skinny the 25th figs were.

meh, I'm Snake-Eyes'd to death, I have one for each of my shelves and then some, nowhere to display any more, you might as well have shown me a new Duke or CC figure...I do love that it's on a Recondo stand though...considering that hasbro took their budget for stands and spent it on stupid oversized neon missile launchers...

The best part? The sheath is molded correctly, where the sword rests with the cutting edge up over the right shoulder. Almost all the modern Snake Eyes have had the sword facing the wrong direction, necessitating that it be drawn over the left shoulder to be correct.

I can't wait to get this Snake Eyes!

Mine arrived from Viperskingdom today. It's the best Snake Eyes figure I've ever seen. I know a lot of folks are really high on the POC Snake Eyes but in my opinion this one blows it away.
The neck is not set too high as some have feared, and the legs aren't too skinny. It looks like he is wearing tight pants. The headsculpt is phenomenal with excellent paint apps- I don't know why you'd even consider the Zartan head over this one. The articulation is tight and abundant.
The accessories are great- two swords but only one scabbard (think of it as an extra sword instead of a missing scabard!), two knives identical to Joe Trooper's more intimidating knife, and the smaller pistol from that figure as well. The backpack is really cool and looks like it could contain a disassembled rifle. The belt is great, featuring a holster for the pistol and a sheath for one of the knives, but tends to ride up like the belt on the Resolute Snake Eyes figure.
The figure is very dark and difficult to photograph.
Overall this figure is excellent and I'd rather pay the inflated price on an overseas auction than have to wait until March to own it. It will definitely replace whichever Snake Eyes figure you currently think is the best one.

That's a poor attitude. Just because he's doing auctions instead of Buy It Now sales doesn't mean he's fucking anybody. Any of us would do the same thing- he's cashing in while demand is high. If you don't want to wait until March for the figures from wave 2 then you have to win the auction, that's just the way it is. I paid $28 plus shipping for this figure and I think it's well worth that. I wouldn't be surprised to see these auctions get up to $50 or even higher, now that word is out that the later waves are delayed until next spring. Even if he did sell the figs as Buy It Now sales he could probably price them all at $50 and they'd still sell.

I payed $12 for mine :) guess I was lucky but I have to be honest its just a figure its not worth more then 3 figures at this point. Specially because this figure will be out other you can doubt but not this one.

Good point but I still think this fig is well worth the extra $. There's an auction for it right now with just over a day left and it's up to $36, so there are a lot of folks out there who are willing to pay a premium to own this figure now. I mean, I'm probably the only person in Florida who owns this figure! You're probably the only one in Portugal who owns it!
