I bought a bunch of Retaliation figures over the weekend, but i couldn't pull the trigger on Duke. This figure is just awful, terrible weapons and his head looks a Fisher Price toy. I hope im not alone on this ?????????

I agree, I bought one of each figure, I tear them apart and customize and I'm always looking for new heads.....But dukes head looks god awful, like 8 layers of paint too many.
And theres just nothing I can do with his body. :/

I was iffy on this Duke at first, but I bought him anyway, and if you put a POC Duke head (or even an ROC one). It's not a bad figure! It would've been better if they painted the green in a desert camo scheme like in the movie, but it's not bad! The green kind of brings it back to '82 for me. Same concept. A basic, slightly futuristic soldier. I'm debating whether or not to troop-build these.

I put a BenchPress head on mine and made BP an experimental weapon tester.

I actually think he's an alright figure, the thing that really kills him for me is the accessories, and the lack of any kind of ankle articulation.

Lack of accessories for all but the Joe Trooper (and maybe the Cobra one) really kills me. And would it have been so hard or expensive to include a stand? Really? REALLY?

picked one up while TRU was having a sale, figured a head swap might save him. I'll probably still use him as Duke though, which ROC do you guys think had the best likeness?
desert ambush
reactive impact armor
accelerator suit
city strike
TRU attack on the pit
Target rescue mission
K-mart desert
did I miss any?

i got it and put a ROC Ripcord on it and painted the neck to match fleshtone. I figure until it is official and he is dead, Ripcord is still around. Since he wanted to be a pilot, I added the helmet from Renegades Ripcord and its tight but works. Now he is my pilot for the GI Joe Movieverse (which is what my son and I have set for figures from the movies).

Lack of articulation, weapons and battle stand, doesn't change the fact that I just don't like the figure at all.
What's worst is Wave 2 Flint (8 months from now) is the same exact figure.

i put the Joe Trooper's "HALO" helmet on Duke and put the Duke head on 3pack SE with a gas mask. Duke's head sits a little low, but you can pull it up some and the gas mask hides the rest

I bought him only for a custom psych-out.
That's the only good thing I could see using him for.

His uniform fits in just fine with a team of Retaliation Joe Troopers. Mine's going to be some nameless squad leader and not Duke.

Can't find any redeeming qualities myself. Fortunately I haven't seen him often.

So the consensus is the figure is alright IF you swap the head, add some accessories, and ignore the reduced articulation.
.....yeah.

i don't think any of these guys are worth the 10 plus dollars stores are charging (case in point, my tru charges 11.49) for these guys. the best option are the 3 packs.
