What is your favorite non-troop builder to troop build?

Personally, I've picked up a few RoC The Doctor figures to use a cadre of demented Cobra scientists. I put gas masks on some, ala Psycho Mantis, and change some of the details between them (e.g. jacket on, jacket off, toupee on, toupee off, breather on, breather off, etc.).

I'm curious as to what other "unique" figures you like to use as troop builders.

I think PoC Hawk was my first non-traditional troop builder. I have two which were added as part of my 6 man Steel Brigade team. There's no way he's Hawk anyways.

The 25th comic pack blue Cobra Commander with cape and sword. Easy head swap and take off the cape and sword with belt and you have easy Crimson Guard Cadets!

Also, although I don't have any yet, the Dollar General black Cobra Commander can be used somewhat the same with a head swap and a bit of paint, you can have easy Crimson Shadow Guards.

We got a LOT of wave 4 30th in my area. This is even after I sold several of them at cost to local collectors. It is a spectacular figure IMO. From the same wave, I bought a lot of Lifelines and Laws (not nearly as many) that I like as generic troops. I also have a ton of Techno Vipers.

My true one would be the RoC TRU exclusive Firefly. I love that figure. I only have two of him though, but he still counts. I wanted more because the design, to me, makes for a great spec ops squad. He has nice gear too.

Haha! Yeah, it got kinda carried away. That's the result of like 2-3 years of picking one up here and there. I always liked that figure, so I bought one to hang on my cube wall at work. Then I saw the Canadian carded ones and got one of those. I didn't have a spot on the wall for it so I put both of them on a shelf. The shelf looked kind of empty, so I thought it would be funny to have a few more to fill out the shelf, sort of as a conversation piece, especially since they were so cheep at TJ Maxx. Then other folks gave me a couple, and I would pick them up for $3 when I went shopping with the wife. It got to 33 carded stormys when I put a stop to it (i.e. I ran out of shelf space).

"Why?" is the second question I always here at work. The first is "Is that a Sky Striker?" :)
