Is the Video Game Industry Dying? | Games Blog - Yahoo! Games (http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/video-game-industry-dying-175530304.html)

I am most interested in, concerned with, and curious about Bungie's newest project. For anyone out of the loop, they are no longer the developers for Halo. So their new project is a whole new franchise. I am excited. The most I know about it is that Jen Taylor is involved, and she has done mo-cap work for it!!!!!!!

Just for the record, I have no interest in Halo 4 or its new trilogy.

So far this is what I am most excited about from E3...
The Last of Us - Gameplay Demo - E3 2012 - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbLOokeC3VU)
...actual gameplay from the post-apocalyptic game Last of Us by the people who made Uncharted. Damn, that looks so good.

The girl is voiced by Ellen Paige, huh? Looks and sounds like her.

The games I'm looking forward to from seeing them at E3 are Assassin Creed 3, The Last of Us, The Fall of Cybertron, God of War: Ascension, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, The Avengers game, and the new Gearz game. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the new Castlevania game too.

I didn't really hear anything about the new GTA, but man that is probably number 1 on my wanted list. I also heard Nintendo's presentation wasn't very impressive. I heard they showed a lot of rehashes of games that are out now like Mass Effect 3, and Arkham City for the new Wii-U. The new Pikmin game is basically the best game they have which they showed first.

I also forgot to mention The new Splinter Cell game. Sam Fisher looks like even more of a badass in this new version. This one looks like there is a lot more action in it, and maybe not so much stealth and hiding bodies.

Bungie isn't showing off any of their new project, code named right now as Destiny, at E3. Next year they will.

Ellie, the girl in The Last of Us is voiced by Ashley Johnson. She has done voice work for shows like Ben 10 and has been in TV shows like The Killing.

Rockstar is typically quiet at E3 so doubtful there will be any GTA5 news.

Aside from more footage of Borderlands 2 which I already reserved and was pissed about finding out there was a loot chest edition that sold out within a few days, I am interested in Assassin's Creed 3. It definitely looks more open and with a much more rewarding combat system that looks like it allows/prefers you to go berserk on everyone between you and your target instead of having to sit/wait/think about how to assassinate someone.

Watch Dogs looks pretty crazy, was hoping for more Sleeping Dogs info/gameplay but yeah, getting it no matter what.

Watch Dogs is next gen though... but I am really curious about Sleeping Dogs too. I wonder if Square-Enix can really save what was once gonna be True Crime: Hong Kong just by re-branding it and changing things up a little.

I am mostly just waiting for Yakuza 5 though, but running around a virtual Hong Kong does sound fun in the meantime.

Well damn it. But at least you gave me a new piece of information: It's being code named Destiny.
So far I know 5 things about this game.
1. Jen Taylor is in it.
2. Jen Taylor did mo-cap for it.
3. Jen Taylor's character sits down at some point and holds something in her hand while speaking.
4. There is another character sitting beside Jen Taylor's character during this scene.
5. The game is code named Destiny.

That really only boils down to 2 things, but I am excited.

6. I can pretty much assume with reasonable conviction that Marty O'Donnell is in charge of sound and music for Destiny.

Did not know that, why the hell did they even show it then?

Yeah when I went to reserve it several months ago no one even knew what I was reserving. So far it looks freaking awesome though.

Ubisoft is probably just showing off... but rumor has it that the new xbox and ps will be happening late next year, so maybe they aren't too far ahead of themselves.

I absolutely loved the fighting in Yakuza 4, never got tired of it because of all the weapons and environmental finishing moves. Sleeping Dogs kinda reminds me of the Yakuza combat system except more complex... hard to tell for sure though if that is a good or bad thing yet.

A few other things about it. Bungie signed a 4 game deal with activision, with a game coming out every other year. The 360 version will be getting the exclusive launch of each game first and any DLC will be coming to the 360 first.

A lot of this info came out in court documents leading up to the Ex Infinity Ward vs Activision law suit.

Watch Dogs is for the 360, PC and PS3. It looks next gen because they were showing off the PC version.

I expect the next gen consoles to be released to the public within the next two years. If I was to put some money on it, I'd say we hear an announcement about at least one of them by this time next year.

For real? Cool.

Except this game must still be 1 to 2 years away... by then IMO it will be easier to release it on a next gen console since the 360 or P3 won't be able to fully handle it anyway.

But yah, it looks freakin' awesome regardless.

Ubi said they are going to put it on as many consoles as possible so they are going to do a scaled down version for the PS3 and 360. Wouldn't be the first time they did something like that. Splinter Cell Double Agent came out for both the Xbox and 360 at the same time and the xbox version was obviously scaled down and very different game than the 360 version. With the game aiming to come out in 2013, Ubisoft could do the same thing with a scaled down PS3/360 version coming out the same time as the next gen version for the PS4/NextBox.
