View Full Version : PILOT SCARLETT G.I.Joe Modern Era Review

Considering the amount of Dukes, Snake Eyes' and Cobra Commanders I'm surprised that this is only the second carded Scarlett we have gotten. Seeing as she is a fan favorite character and all, we've only seen the 5-pack and carded version and the comic pack repaint. Now we have this new Pilot Scarlett, which is a tribute to the "Glenda" figure from Argentina.
Pilot Scarlett's body is the same as the original release (minus the grenade on her shoulder) with new lower legs, painted in light blue, silver and white. When geared up this figure looks awesome! Not so much when her pilot gear is off, but really, who would want to rob her of her sweet gear anyway? The head looks, to me anyway, better than the first version. Adding a ponytail would make this head a mainstay on any Scarlett figure. As with the first version, she does lack the double jointed knees that most modern Joes have, but it doesn't take away too much. She comes with a helmet, pilot harness, backpack, pistol and her signature crossbow.
Overall, a nice addition to the line and continues a cool homage to the foreign versions of some of our favorite characters.
FIGURE RATING 6.5 out of 10 (double Jointed knees could have pushed it higher)

Head sculpt does look better than the others. Still, money is tight so I think I'll hold off in favor of another figure.

Thanks for the review. This figure is growing on me but I still would rather have had a Low Light or Footloose.

I like this fig alot, in the cartoon and in the comic, just about all of them could fly something so more pilot outfits are nice.

yeah, but would you have really wanted them made out of the Scarlett mold?
I think this figure is great and my favorite of the wave with the Eels. and I love the nod to Glenda as an alias on the filecard. I hope we see more foreign figures done like this without be straight repaints.

Eopie, I hope you're starting with the turds and saving the best for last! :)
I'm looking forward to the other Wave 11 reviews.
You've more than hit the nail on the head as far as my expectations of what to expect from Matt Trakker, Drag Flint, and Pilot Scarlett, and I don't really plan on opening these guys, so thanks for reviewing them so I can at least get an idea of what I may or may not be missing out on.
It's odd that there's no ponytail, I was considering using this head on v1 Scarlett, and perhaps Lady Jaye V1's head on this body (with repainted cap) so that I had a new female figure, but she still looks too much like Scarlett to keep her head, but missing the ponytail makes me not want to use her head on Scarlett from the 5-pack.
Thanks for the review!

VERY cool. I thought I would like this figure just for the Glenda homage, but the figure itself is actually pretty bad ass. I can totally see this Scarlett behind the yolk of the Skystriker. Love it.

I am torn.
I don't know if I like her or hate her... What ruins it for me, I think, is the bad paint app on the eyes. They're practically crossed, and they look a little weird, like Bjork or something. I hope that when I do find her I don't have to settle for one with a sloppy paint job. I hope they're not all like that.
And speaking of paint.... Once again Hasbro didn't bother to paint the lips. Blue Baroness suffered from this too. Though once I touched mine up, the face looked a lot better and a lot more feminine.
Maybe it's just me, but that head almost looks like duke with different hair.
No, No, I can see what you mean. I do see some Duke in her. And no, that's not a reference to their "relationship" on the cartoon. But it is funny.
With the helmet on she looks a little more androgynous. The jaw looks horribly long with it on for some reason. Not AS bad with it off, but from the front, without the lips painted it could almost pass for a guy's head with bad 1990's Chandler hair.
I could almost see painting the hair black and making Version II Sci-Fi, or chopping up Lobot's head gear, gluing it on and making Psyche out.... Yeeesh.
I will probably buy her. Maybe turn her into custom fodder, maybe not. At the very least, even if I can't use her for anything right now, I'll have another Joe stand with two foot pegs on it.
Oh, and thanks for the review! One of the things that keeps me coming back here everyday.

The original Glenda had blonde hair, right? I wonder what this figure will look like with a head from either Juno Ecliipse/Deena Shahn or The Mquarrie concept female Luke Starkiller? Probably a damn sight better. I still have to see it in person, out of the pack, and try painting red lips on it before I dismiss it as a man face completely.

I think this fig may have overall quality control issues because I saw 5 hanging on the peg at my local comic book shop and all 5 had poor paint jobs on her face; I mean there were like small smudges here and there on her face. I guess it could have just been a bad batch or something, but all the other wave 11 figs looked good.
I thought I was going to buy this fig just because it was Scarlett, but after seeing it up close I will have to give it a pass.

I really like this figure, got it today and the gear is great.
Only problem I have with it is the helmet is overly large and the back of the hair looks a little strange.
but Its a great addition to my collection.
Id say 7.5-8/10

this figure it's well done but not the head, I prefer scarlett with a ponny tail so I will have to replace it because I got the figure yesterday.

I think in my opinion that this is a cool figure. I agree that the back of the head looks odd but I think it's a simple fix. If there is a way to add a ponytail or just swap heads then this would be way much better. Good review.

Here's mine with the head swap. Hardly an innovation, as a lot of folks are doing this, but at least here's a pic for anyone who wants to see how it really looks. (and no, that's not a variant crossbow, I just painted it a bit to make it look decent. EDIT: and a couple drops of glue to keep the darn thing from falling apart at the slightest glance in its direction.)
Notice how perfectly the ponytail goes around the backpack!

I think that it's one of most important innovation on the 25th fiigures, I can't undestand the reason cos Lady J can have a DKJ and Scarlett can't!
Since I have started my collection, and it's no long time, I am avoiding buy a Scarlett wait for a nice single-pack, when I saw the Glenda-Scarlett i thought: "Scarlett, your time has come!"... now i'm thinking 'bout the others on wave 12 n waitin' for a scarlett-quarrel, maybe...
I know it's not the end of the world...
Bah... it still sux...

Even though the Version 1 Scarlett head is a little cartoony/anime looking; that still looks a thousand times better. Thank you for the pics. That actually makes me want that figure now, just so I can swap out the head.

I am not a fan of the head at all, but I will never complain about getting another female figure since they are few and far between. I am getting a second one and putting the 5 pack Scarlett head and boots on. I will paint the hair yellow and the boots white so she looks like the vintage Glenda.

so on the topic of Scarlett, how many folks think the leg warmers are a prequel to the Arctic Scarlett comic pack? Seems an easy move to me.

Everyone's harping on the "no hair" thing, but have you tried to put the helmet on the original Scarlett head? It doesn't go so well. They'd have to make it stupidly oversize, or have some areas cut away to allow for the hair. They could have made it molded on and I'm sure everyone would have just loved that right? I think the head is ok, it's just not Scarlett.

I just bought her today (Fred's had a pile of GI Joes, all of them this figure.)
