Final Thoughts
There's a lot of good stuff to be found among the GI Joe: Retaliation line and the Ninja Showdown Red Ninja is one such toy. But even then, he's not without his problems.
Although it's possible to overlook some slightly sloppy apps on his accessories or the limited range of armament available (and to be honest, I've struggled to really find his ''hero'' weapon), the real issue is that a lot of his gear simply doesn't sit well in his hands. Sure, the claw fits perfectly and won't provide any issues but the Sai is simply too small for him to grip and the spear seems a little too heavy/cumbersome for his slightly bendy fingers to really hold properly. Many a time I found myself posing him only to look away and - a moment later - to hear the tell-tale sound of the weapon dropping from his grip.
All is not lost, though. Thanks to his articulated wrists he can hold some very cool unarmed Martial Arts poses and - strangely - I found that he had no problems holding accessories from other figures, so if - like 99% of Joe collectors - you have a few spare weapons lying around, you can quickly arm him with something more suitable.
Gear-related issues aside, though, this is a great figure. The articulation is fantastic, the sculpt is great and given that the three-figure pack he's a part of also includes the excellent Snake Eyes (and the soon-to-be-Reviewed Storm Shadow) all for about what you'd pay for two single figures, you really can't pass him up at that price.
A great figure marred slightly by poor gear.

Yeah, I think I'm probably going to pick-up the single figure, too, as I want to make a Slice and I realized now the single figure's coloring is more accurate! So back to the drawing board finding a ''hero'' weapon for this dude... Although there were some good suggestions in the Red Ninja thread in the Modern Era forum.

I used to be able to hold-out with my figures but now I just open them immediately!

I also love this figure...so much so he is going to be his own character in my Joeverse with some gear and aesthetic changes.
I was doing him as Slice until I realized the single carded one is more accurate. :)
But yeah, I'm going to rake through my spares box once I've done the last Review of the pack and see what I can come up with. I'm tempted to get some of the clip-on MU lightning crackles and make him Raiden. :)

I agree 100%. I don't understand why everyone is calling this figure slice when his color scheme is way off. I do want to get this though to put his head on a Red Ninja so that the top of his head is black like Slice originally was. I also would love to put a Renegades SS black belt on him, but it's kind of hard to come by those, so I might just cut off the top of the sash the Red Ninja came with. I'm also looking forward to the Black Dragon Ninja so that I can do a hand swap to give Slice black gloves.

i try to wait til friday nights to open new stuff. somtimes thats really hard to do.
i got CC and the red ninja on launch day. temptation (and rain...sorry doggie, no walk for you) got the best of me thursday night and i popped open the red ninja.
great figure, though, seeing its the fourth figure i own with that sculpt, i knew it would be.
tonight i have cobra commander and the Fang. (refuse to say ''fangboat")

Does the single carded figure come with the mask? Maybe that's why people are thinking that. Or because - given he's in the 3-pack - he's probably not considered the ''Army Builder Red Ninja.'' I dunno.

I did but I'm not a fan of it that way. I don't like Sais anyway. They always seem like a toasting fork or girl's weapon. :)
