you'd think an extra 9 months would be enough to make a good movie based game. probably not

Can't say bad for Digital Domain. They've done some pretty impressive stuff lately. :)

I think that this is good news. To me it sounds like Paramount is putting a lot of effort into ensuring Retaliation is a smash hit. I hope that it ends up being one.

Since this is being worked on right now, I guess that means either the movie is complete or any newly filmed sequences are not that extensive?

Smart. I think you may have a point here.

Good news! Michael Bay is now somehow involved with this movie....huh?

Now we can really blame him for something.
Wait... i guess it is good news! YAY!

They will be adding "poke you in the eye" type scenes to take advantage of the 3D. And the 3D is a post-coversion which no one likes because it produces lousy 3D. Way to go, Paramount! I know this will be a hit in March!

Well DOTM was bad ass in 3D(saw it in 2d and 3d), so...hopefully the delay for 3D was worth it.

Great, GI Bay. Couldn't possibly see something wrong with that. See transformers 2. Although I liked the A-10 and Spectre scene in the first movie.

Yes, but Dark of the Moon used the same camera system and even crew that was used to film Avatar. It was not a post conversion. So, I'm a little skeptical. However, post conversion can be done well. So, I'm now officially interested and will wait to see the movie in 3D if the 3D reviews are good.
Also, Michael Bay has nothing to do with this movie. Just because one of his companies is doing the 3D conversion doesn't mean he'll be in the studio tweaking the conversion or re-editing the movie. Some of you Tankers are really funny!

Yawn.

I've not seen a 3D movie since something at Sea World in about 1983. I think they're garbage.

"...one of the leading VFX companies..."
Somebody misspelled Weta or ILM.

It goes without saying the tech has improved IMMENSELY since then. I often wonder how many of the anti-3D brigade have never even actually seen a proper polarized 3D presentation?

I have not, but I do my due diligence before seeing a movie and with the exception of Avatar, the majority of the reviews for 3D movies are rather poor - particularly post-3D conversion. To me, it is a distraction from the movie. I might go see the Star Wars OTC in 3D but only because I enjoy those movies. But the idea of paying extra for what seems a gimmick is not how I wish to spend my time or money.

Havok is right. Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Avatar was both shot in 3D from start to finish. Michael Bay hired the same equipment and crew from the Avatar for the movie. Digital Domain was the mastermind behind converting all the CGI to 3D since they can't actually be shot in 3D.

Michael Bay logged to his official website today, to let everyone know that he no longer owns Digital Domain. In fact it's been a while since he sold his shares.

For those people and press asking: I stopped being an officer or director of the company over three years ago, and have not owned stock in the company for some time. I have remained a loyal client and supporter of the company however. It has amazing people and talent, and it still can be a great company! During this difficult time, my thoughts are with the great people I've had the pleasure to work with at DD.

Doesn't matter, it will still end up looking like The Phantom Menace over Prometheus.

I have seen several newer films in 3D and have not been at all impressed with them. I could do with out the 3D effects and really, it's just a gimmick that's lost on me.

I was hoping the delay of the movie might have been due in part to wait out Sgt. Slaughters Mattel contract so he could be added to Retaliation...one can only hope...

Oh snap.

This is the "trusted" established company that's gonna pioneer seamless conversions into the next generation of film??

The same company that just filed for bankruptcy today????

Wah wah wah waaaaaaahhh.
