Who out there has the gospel on which steering wheel goes to which jeep? One is the "thick V, smooth column", the other is the "thin V, ridged column". my rookie butt only just realized there was even a difference thanks to pic i saw here on the forum. I'm betting i'm not the only one too, so now the problem is that everyone thinks theirs is correct, but may not be. Who out there has the historical chops to say which one is which and why?

I think the one on the right looks more like the plastic on the doors of the Vamp II and the Stinger had slightly darker grey plastic.

I'm sure Tolan will come on here and correct/confirm if he sees this.

Tolan, you must be like the oracle here :) >>nice call TK<< ---anyway so i read through that whole four page/ FIVE year thread, annnnd learned quite a bit, but remain still slightly, blissfully confused as to the lock it in, take the deal, final answer as to which is which. WAS there an answer? i almost got the impression they were thinking it just came down to when that particular lot was shipped. can YOU tell me what you got out of that?
---here is what I have in my jeep dept, all jeeps i had to scrounge wheels for off eBay, all jeeps have the collared female steering wheel mount. i have two stingers, two us vamp mkII's, one canada mkII (did that come the stinger style roof cover?). I have four ridged column steering wheels, one smooth column. again, that was luck of the draw since most eBay sellers list them as stinger/VmkII. can YOU tell me what to make of my steering wheel inventory?
--- i'd LOVE to join in that yo joe! thread, but since i registered years ago i can log in, but can't post. i've emailed them a half dozen times to see if they can give me forum posting rights but never got any replies. don't spose you have any ideas there...
---i need a US M/A vamp mkII tan steering wheel if anyone has a line on it :)
thx all -CW!

OK, i've bashed away at this for DAYS. Reached out to and talked to many people in the know here, on FB, and on eBay. What i've learned is:
1. in the end, most people consider the stinkin jeep complete if it so much as HAS a steering wheel (either)
2. if such a thing exists that certain wheels go to certain jeeps, it's based more on the pegged dashboard vs the non pegged dash. the ridged small V wheel seems to go with the non pegged dash, the smooth column thick V wheel seems to go to the pegged dash. Best answer i've gotten so far....

1. Indeed. A jeep with a steering is better than one without one.

2. There is. Although, since its a running change, as long as the steering wheel fits on/in the dashboard, most are happy.

I made the unfortuate mistake of buying a Stinger steering wheel for my VAMP II a couple of years ago. I figured it would fit but sadly I was wrong. I was able to eventually find a proper VAMP II steering wheel, but man those things are hard to come by.

yes i think on a pegless dash either is copacetic, but on a pegged dash the wrong one just won't fly
