All I've been finding at retail around here is the blue Cobra Commander. I have two black ones, but those are the ones that came with the Amazon 4-packs.

Head-to-head, I think I like the blue one better.

This is actually the first thread I've seen reporting Kmart carrying the line. Price wise they tend to be around TRU prices or a bit more.

I was at my local K-Mart last night and the toy isle guy said that they had a whole case or cases of the Retaliation figures in the back, but they are going to sit there "until the release date". I told him most stores already have these on the shelves. I was very polite, but I have to say, I don't understand why some stores have these sold out already and others won't even put them on the shelf.

I would say the Blue CC is the variant. All I see everywhere is the black CC, never seen the blue (of course I have only been to a TRU, four Wal Marts and two Targets in my town. All of them had Black CC no blue, kicks myself for not checking K Mart now.

Just because it is on the packaging doesn't mean anything.
Besides this is a running change not a variant...

I myself have seen a gazillion of the black version and one of the blue.

Wave 2 CC is blue. Black one is almost certianly the variant. Just isnt rare thats all.

A variant would imply that they are packed in with a normal color and that they are like a lottery ticket. Example the clear wrath figure.

A running change (ten times more common by Hasbro) implies that they had a set number of figures and then they changed the deco after a certain point. That is the case here.

Honestly I have seen over ten of the black figure and only one of the blue.

You had a different experience ]because you live in another part of the country. You got later cases than this part of the country.

I have only seen 2 Cobra Commanders and both were black. Though I have managed to pick up a blue caped GI JOE trooper. Tan is a much more appropriate color for the figure so in that sense the "running change" is worth it.

I'm staying in one of the smallest towns in America visiting my family so I went to Kmart; I got the Fangboat-no figures on the shelves.

The funny part is of course that the first version traditionally is worth more in the long run, unless the second wave just doesn't make it out.

The reality we have no idea at this point and I consider all movie figures to be rare until they show up at Ross.

My K-Mart has an odd smell, the floor looks like crap from all the replaced tiles over the years, and the employees are the biggest bunch of oddball people (who don't give a F**K, btw), lol.

I remember back in the day, that was the PLACE. Our mall area was only about 10% of what it is now, and K-Mart was the "IT'" place. Well...that and Service Merchandise!

No figures at the only Kmart (of 3 in my area) that has put out the retaliation figures. Just vehicles and role play items. The other two stores told me that they werent carrying gijoe figures. So who knows about those. My blue CC came from WalMart, my black CC came from Target.

My K-Mart only has the Retaliation motorcycles. They got put out on the shelves last week, but it doesn't look like any have sold yet. The toy department there is a shambles, too.

It sounds like, if they are putting out cases, that the blue is at Kmart. Along with certain Walmarts.
Someone wrote in that they had received an early case with the blue. Maybe K got early cases and then they did the running change to black...

Blue trooper: Walmart and Kmart and TRU
