I just got a 30th Anniversary Sky Striker due to Target clearance on it...how do I go about modding the landing gear where the wings are separate from it? Thanks!

You should check this thread, it worked wonders for me and shin did an amazing job giving step by step instructions. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-customs-general-discussion/217130-operation-wing-sweep-disconnecting-wing-sweep-mechanism-landing-gear.html

You're going to need an xacto or hobby saw, gorilla tape, and small screwdriver. Let me know if you have any questions.

I've got all those tools from my Warhammer modelling days. Thanks a ton, guys!

Let me know how it goes. And if you run into problems feel free to ask.

For me, I did it the cheap way that does not require separating the Skystriker. However, the wings will be independent of each other.
All I did was remove all the screws and pry open at the center by the way a little so I can pull the wing out. Then I just cut off all the teeth with side cutters, added some electrical tape to the post holding the wing to give it some friction and put it back on. Repeated for other side, put all the screws on and it was done.
As you can see, the wings are in and gear are down:

And you can just spread open the wings manually:

I did the same method with two of my Skystrikers and it worked like a charm.

That is easier to do and less time consuming but I still wanted my wings to be able to sweep together. After using my method, I'm a lot happier with my Sky Strikers. Modded 3/5 so far.

Yeah, your mod is awesome. I totally would have done yours if Hasbro didn't decided to glue the two halves together. Well, actually, I probably would have tried to find a way to link the two wings together and use the lever for the landing gears...haha.

Thanks.
SuperFlanker and bar were able to link the wings and use the lever for the landing gears iirc. They made linkages from scratch and I think bar switched the lever to underneath. Nath_1977 did something similar too.
