View Full Version : If You Think The Retaliation Figures Are Bad...

Personally, now that I have the Retaliation figures in-hand, I really like them, despite the cut-backs. But for those of you who are getting sand in your vaginas over them, I offer proof that it can always be worse...far, FAR worse.

To prove my point, I present the new Dark Knight Rises toys, which I came across today in TRU. These things make the Retaliation figures look like wet dream of the Pursuit of Cobra line. I'll just let the pictures state the obvious:

I guess Mattel wanted to one-up the Green Lantern toys, and make the new worst 4" line in recent memory.

No suprising. Mattel has always had a lack of articulation in movie toys. only way to get anythign good from mattel (articulation-wise) is to buy their subscription line toys....which costa small fortune.

That is expected out of other lines. Not GIJOE but hey if your satisfied with the bare minimums then take it by all means. Not all of us are buying turds labeled as Joes.

Well, sand in the vaginas huh? LOL! I hate the Retaliation toyline and for the record I don't collect any ol' garbage and Batman toys aren't apart of my collection. Unlike a number of collectors, I have standards for which I choose to collect. Retaliation toys are still crap.

Wow welcome back to the 1970's. That is just beyond crazy. I can't belive they'd make a toy today with that bad of articulation. That's like 1970's star wars level right there.

And you honestly expected more from Mattel?
If there's one thing they've proven time and again, it's that they suck at making 1:18th scale figures. they should just stop. those figures will rot on the pegs just like GL did.

I will not collect these toys but for $5 I don't see much complaining. Now if they were $8-10 like SW, GI Joe etc despite the lack of articulation then I would complain.

What do you people expect from movie line toys? Haven't you learned by now? The quality gets eliminated for the quantity every single time.

It's not even just about the articulation on these toys though. Kenner would have been ashamed to put out that Bane in the 1980's. There were some original Star Wars figures with better paint and sculpt then that thing.

At this point, why do they even bother with the articulation it does have. Just make it one solid chunk of plastic, leave it one color, and call it done.

As I scrolled past these photos, I honestly, seriously expected the post to end with something along the lines of, "Ha ha, nah, just kidding, I photographed these at the dollar store".

Wow.

I have zero understanding of production costs and profit margins in the toy industry, but I gotta think it'd be better to just not produce a series of toys at all rather than create a retail glut of irredeemable shit like this.

They sell out pretty fast. I only noticed them at my TRU because I saw empty stickers that were not there previously. I asked and I was told they were gone the minute they were put out.

seen some of these in person today......does Mattel realise that Kenners M.A.S.K. figures from the mid 80s were smaller scale and still better detailed/articulated than these pieces of crap?

these are 50 times worse than the GL stuff IMHO.

So that's where all the money they could be pouring into toylines like MOTUC and DCUC for better accesories and articulation went...making cheap looking poorly painted chinese knockoffs for a yet ANOTHER movie and help clog up shelves even more.

Seriously, my local TRU is still clogged with crappy Green Lantern and DCIH stuff...

JokerFC

mattel should have kept the movie stuff at 5".they are clearly incapable of making anything smaller look decent.
