I was looking at my 1994 G.I. Joe Trading Card set and was reminded of this unproduced concept art. This image had collectors and customizers entranced for a long time. I think it would be neat to have a 4" update of this figure. Thoughts?

I'd buy it. The more Joes, the better.

I was out of GI Joe in 94, but as a kid, I wouldn't have bought a black female action figure. It wouldn't have appealed, interested, or related to me, and I never pretended I was a black female when I was playing GI Joe.

A modern update? Sure. But just to make sure everyone knows, the club did make an homage to this figure in 2007's Tanks For The Memories con set.

What's the logo on her arm? Is she supposed to be part of that European team like the Stalker with the Z on him? I forget his name, Gaucho, I think?

AHHHHH I FORGOT ABOUT THE COOK! Thanks, Gyre! You have the neatest stuff. Who's the guy in the bottom left of your collage there, and does your cryptic message mean that I might get a cook figure? Regardless, thanks to you and OP for sharing.

I don't think this was intended to be Doc's daughter. I think Hasbro was just trying to get extra mileage out of the Lady Jaye mold by reusing it for a new character.

I would have been all about having this figure released. I wish my Joe team had more females on the roster.

Hey I don't own all that stuff I just googled it hahaha.

The guy on the bottom is an unproduced Cobra (possibly a Viper) apparently. I couldn't find any other pics of unproduced Joes that
kinda shared a theme so I just threw the Cobra image in there.
The image is from an upcoming book:
Behind the Scenes of G.I. Joe – Cobra concept art, 1990 | A Real American Book! (http://arealamericanbook.wordpress.com/2011/10/24/behind-the-scenes-of-g-i-joe-cobra-concept-art-1990/)

And my message wasn't meant to sound cryptic. I know nothing about a Chef figure. I was simply
adding my 2 cents to James' thread.

I must be thinking of the comics then...Or maybe I dreamt the whole thing (it happens...)

I don't think you were dreaming, and I could be wrong...that happens a lot, just ask my wife!

I think they later based the female Doc character on this concept art, but am not sure if that's who the art was originally intended to be.

From the tone of this, I envision some closet black female roleplaying when you were a child. It's like the say, the stronger the denial......

I agree to a point. Me as an under 10 year old would not have purchased this figure. Packed with a vehicle, or if the accessories were awesome, then yes. At that point I just wanted more ninja's.

As an adult collector now? I would love to see them make all of these characters. It's like when your favorite band has been broken up for years and they find an unreleased track. You know it's not going to be the best thing ever, but you love it anyways.

I think DDP's Reloaded might have pulled from this but I think she was supposed to be a mechanic (the lightning bolt patch would lead me to believe she wasn't supposed to be a doctor). I think the biggest slice fandom thought she was a mechanic. The club's Doc was his niece (I think) as their universe tries not to contradict the Marvel continuity where Doc is dead. Yojoe.com has the specifics.

cool photo's thanks for the share!

There is a nice custom of that falcon floating around on ebay at the moment, and it sure is a shame they never released sly as a figure he is looking more plastic now then ever!
