The people in the theater clapped & cheered after it was over. I heard a few guys saying it was a really good movie. Everybody seemed to love it.

I really loved it because it felt like a Crysis movie.

This is one time you really need to ignore the apathetic douchebag critics & fanboys & just go see it.

You mean thanks to AVENGERS! Avengers is mowing every other movie down right now. And soon there will be The Dark Knight, The Hobbit & Spider Man. Releasing GI Joe now with that kind of competition would be a huge mistake.

Also. If the info from the other thread is accurate, Retaliation pre-screened really poorly. Paramount knows they have another giant turd on their hands.

And, to make things even worse, Bruce Willis looks exactly the same in the Expendables 2 trailer as he does in Retaliation. What kind of message does that send out? I know what I think about it.

And just because Avengers is killing all other movies right now, doesn't mean Battleship wasn't good. It was just released at a bad time.

So far the only thing I've heard about Battleship is "they made a movie out of a board game???" That's all anybody says. A very closed minded & retarded view.

"It's based on a board game so I'm not going to see it!" That's how people are. Doesn't matter how good or bad the movie is, all they see is that it's based on a board game so they''re not willing to give it a chance. "you can't make a movie based on a board game, that's just silly, so I don't want to watch it."

Whatever! Me, my friends & everybody in the theater had a blast. If you want to miss out on a really fun summer movie that's your problem. Go ahead & be a closed minded dumbass hater, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

HOLY CRAP! Just watched it on DVD and this movie was freaking awesome! IMHO waaaaaay better than The Avengers; so sad it didn't do better at the box office.

You are 100% right about that... felt EXACTLY like a Michael Bay movie. And as much as I hate Michael Bay... I loved Battleship for all its cheesiness. However, considering where the movie took place... my objectivity my be questionable. LOL.

I watched it the other night finally. I liked it. There were a few groan-inducing moments (stand-outs for me were the two hikers on the mountain still continuing their hike like nothing happened even AFTER they see the giant explosions of things crashing into Hawaii- you would think they would get back to the base- and then the navy ceremony at the end- it was sort of like- "yeah, we stopped an alien invasion" but was given the gravitas of a high-school graduation or something... ) There were other things, sure- but those two really caught my attention during the movie- but the SFX were really cool and there was lots of action- if you're a fan of alien invasion movies that don't take themselves too seriously then spend a buck or two on it at redbox and check it out. Movie snobs- no need to bother: you'll hate every fun, cheesy, ridiculous moment of it.

I thought it was OK, it had equal number of crappy to F YEAH! Moments. One think that i saw a lot in the complaining the depart was how this and that event shouldnt be possible and so on..... this is not a realistic portrayal of an alien invasion and the earth counter attack, this is pretty much a live Anime where the hero pulls out some crazy moves to win.

That's how i saw it and it was fun.

This movie is terrible, but so terrible it is awesome. The opening scene about the burrito set the bar pretty high for ironic enjoyment, but bad acting and stunt casting really will keep the viewer laughing.


And I shit you not, after two hours of this pro military explosion a thon, the directory chose to blast Fortune's son by CCR over the credits.


This is nearly a Crank quality film.
