View Full Version : 4" Dark Knight Rises line

I haven't seen any threads about the 4" line for the upcoming movie and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on it.
I work on a Navy base and saw these out and grabbed a Batman v. Bane two pack. I like them for what they are ($9.99 with five points of articulation) but Joe level of detail with accessories they certainly are not. Believe the only two characters offered are Batman and Bane but am hoping at least for Catwoman.
Thoughts?

Yuck. It's like Mattel didn't even try with this line. If this sells and YJ got cancelled because it didn't, I'll be royally pissed.

Saw the Bat and Batpod. The latter looked okay but the Bat looked lame with some big handle protruding from the back. Both came with fairly ugly unposeable Batman figs.

*sigh*

I guess even Mattel is into the non-poseable driver thing.

Yeah, I remember the Target ones being $10.

It's no big deal really. Since there's a sticker that says "Wal-Mart Exclusive" these will never see the light of the sales floor.

I shot that with my camera phone yesterday. ;)

And outside of Cali and probably NY, the Tumbler ran about $6 to $8 at Target.

This line does not warrant a thread. It really sucks. We are talking Happy Meal, dollar store figures.

:)

Not knocking the thread itself, just saying the toyline is awful.

No worries and understand where you're coming from.
Glad I also have the figs from TDK but still wish they would have taken this opportunity to make a kick-ass 4" Batman line for all three films.

Then they should have given the line to Hasbro, and they should have stipulated that they use the same molds as the Marvel Universe line. No cheap crap.

I bought the batman and I will buy bane. They dont look bad for being 6 bucks. At least they have more articulation then the ones they sell at dollar general. They have bendable knees but not bendable elbows which sucks but I wanted a 4 inch batman so I bought him. I have that one that was released a couple years ago from the dc line. I still have him moc so dont know how it compares. How many waves is this line? I would buy the 10 inch figures but they looke like the The Dark knight ones and bought one of those and the batmobile. Will there be a 4 inch catwoman? If so any pics? thanks.

I have some of the 4" figures from The Dark Knight and a shitload of Infinite Heroes figures. I would have liked to see more characters in this line to go with those. I would have picked up a Bane but not with that freaking paint job. Jesus Christ. The Batman figure is pretty cool even though it lacks articulation. I already had one from the transforming Dark Knight car though.

Check out my Batman custom. I used one of the movie line Batman's head, neck cover with attached cape, and belt. The rest is a 30th Iron Grenadier body except for the lower half of the legs which are from a Thor movie line figure. Now I just need to make him some gadgets and villains to fight.

Oh, and sorry for the crappy photos. My camera is from 2005. Anyone got any recommendations for a new camera in the $50 price range??

so is movie master catwoman in a later assortment? She shows up on ebay for around $50 but if she is just packed 1 per case or something i think I'll hold off and just try and find her. I'm thinking of using her as the base for a Black Widow custom. (I really like Jin's BW off the Arkham catwoman- but the body is too big to fit with my ML figures so I think movie master is a better choice)

really well actually. there is no drilling or cutting needed. the heads are more like... joe arm pegs... so the hole is very small in the head and the ball on the neck joint can fit with a little preasure. they can move and turn fine as well- not as much as a tru ball joint head- but enough :)

Pretty much. I put my Catwoman head on the same figure as the above poster. The cool thing is that Baroness figure is essentially the same body as the one Catwoman comes with...but the difference is Hasbro's superior sculpt and articulation vs. Mattel's crap. But this custom is pretty authentic to what Mattel tried to do....if that makes sense.

I think it's the same figure... I really crunched the head down though- i was thinking it was a bit small at first too. it could also be that over-sized jacket is helping too (like some of the character that have weird neck accessories that once removed make their head r neck look really weird)

right now mine is just as it is- i haven't painted it or anything... i don't know if i'll take it that far. i really just bought the set for catwoman- but the figures were so awful i just had to do something with them. the sculpts on the heads- not with bane so much- but catwoman and bruce really are great sculpts and better bodies really let you see how good they are. i'll post them of corse if i do end up working on them more in which case bane will get a new paint job- batman as well.

I made a Bane custom. Used Retaliation Roadblock, the helmet from Retaliation Joe trooper with filters cut off, and the backback and wires from Resolute comic pack Destro. I might add some more wires to the mask and touch up the paint a little.

The bad articulation is one thing but combine that with crap paint app's and man this line is hard to like, the thing is all the batman figures minus the articulation look great but poor bane has the worst of both worlds.

06-01-2012, 10:16 AM
but some times too much articulation is bad for playablity i would think. i think the old O ring joes would be much easier to play with then the new 25th style articulation. the only benefit to it is display purposes.

I work at a wal-mart up here in Canada currently and last night I had put out some single packs of the line and had a horrible thought. I could be looking at a future step for the joe toy line. The package was just the sealed figure. No accessories, no stand, and 8 points of articulation( head, straight arms, legs, bendable knees) and the card itself was like holding the short card for a hotwheels car. Absolutely disgusted. Even for the price of $5.97 Canadian this just felt too cheap. Please Hasbro if you do read these boards Don't let this happen to the joe line.

I was very harsh on the Green Lantern figures last year, but the greatest shock to my system is that somehow Mattel has found a way to make even the worst 1:18th scale line of the modern era look better by comparison. I think the one thing that might be just as bad is the stupid vehicle drivers from the GI Joe Retaliation line, but to be fair I haven't found any of those at retail yet and have only seen pictures so I can't say that for certain yet.

Yes, this "action figure" sports a whopping 5 points of articulation, and making it worse is that this time the arms don't have that ball joint shoulder (as was in the GL line). And while this figure is much cheaper than the GL Line, the truth is it should have been sold for a dollar. Chap Mei has seriously worked harder on details at least. This figure barely has any (OK Bane does look plain in the previews, but we have seen plenty of figures that are plain look pretty good before, so that's no excuse).

So I just think suck is too mild of a word here, I have no word to express how bad this figure is, just avoid it at all costs, even on clearance.
