Just got this e-mail

---------------------

Hello all!

Well, once again I have to tell you registration is not going to be up today, or until at least Monday, so don't worry about checking this weekend.

I apologize for the delay. We have to ensure that this works correctly. I assure you, I am more upset than you are. Hopefully online Monday, there are still a couple of minor issues that must be corrected.

I will tell you that the system has a new feature. It now has a customer account screen where you can see your invoice, the invoice status and all of the emails that are sent to you from the registration system. This will include show updates, along with your package pick-up information. So, if everyone else is getting an email and you are not, you can just log in and retrieve the information.

We will get this done and I know we are coming to the edge in terms of airfare discounts. Just as a side note, we don't book staff airfare until about 4 weeks out as this is generally the cheapest you can get it.

Thanks for your patience.

See you in NOLA!

No, you are not more upset than we are, Club. Why did you just not tell us earlier in the day? Then we would not feel less important to your business. We want to pay you, just be reasonable in letting us know, then there would also not be so much angst against the whole situation. The Club dodged every question and gave vague answers if they answered at all on other websites and it could have been a perfect time to let us know then. So now, instead of working over time, it feels as if the Club are taking the weekend off and staring up where they left off. Thus, wasting more time and angering more people.

There is our membership dollars and other price increases hard at work. What a frustration. Everyone, thought it would be up this week. There is only 41 days left until con starts. By Monday, we will be be only 38 days. A lot of people are not booking flights nor hotels until they register. Thankfully, I have my hotel and flight booked.

Excellent points. Agree 100%. Just disappointed, that's all. The plus side is that it's looking to be a near perfect weekend weather-wise, so I'm going to take advantage of it.

True on all accounts. I emailed them with the same response I gave in post #2006. I hope that as a member, they will e-mail me back as a courtesy. I do not mean them harm or ill-will as most of us like what the club gives us. Just something to think about as many are waiting every day of the week anticipating to register. It is exhausting. I guess we will start over on Monday.

at least they are communicating??? thats your way of justifying them?? EVERY email i get from them is sorry but this is gonna be late, or that is gonna be late, the fliers are gonna be late, fss is gonna be late, registration is gonna be late, and the best was a couple weeks ago i get a letter dated april 4th i believe saying they might have been hacked and my card was at risk. WORLDS MOST POORLY RUN ORGANIZATION EVER! how people renew with them is beyond me. but they keep getting away with it cause of stupidity like this comment. "gotta have my 42 dollar exclusive footloose figure!!!" if you are happy with the communicating out of them, how do you feel about them not saying anything when they knew they got hacked but still let people sign up and get their card taken? ridiculous. they should get NO support from anyone and if you support them, you are just a dumb ass

I'm sorry, but this is frickin ridiculous.

First of all, they basically are waiting for end of business day to tell most of us. I still haven't gotten today's email. Yesterday, it was almost 5 mountain time when they sent it to me.

Secondly, if you have any sort of a competent I.T. dept, you do not wait until the week you want people to register to migrate/fix server. They should have had a test registration running in-house at least 2 weeks ago to work these issues out in advance. I don't believe that they had ANY hopes within the club that the system would be ready by Wednesday this week, so on Monday, they should have said as much instead of string everyone alone day after day.

This is absolutely NOT how you communicate with paying club members. Be honest, and be clear.

In my opinion, there is no excuse. Think of it this way: There are people who have spent their whole days refreshing the registration page in order to secure a Golden Ticket. Golden Tickets are $300 each. 100 available total. It doesn't cost the club anything to triple purchase limits for these 100 folks, so the club's profit on these is close to $30,000. We're WAITING to GIVE them money, so the least they can do is have the courtesy to be clear and open, especially since we've all ALREADY paid to be part of the club.

For years I have complained about the lack of communication on the part of the club, and it NEVER gets any better. When I have brought it to the club's attention on the forums (in a very civilized manner) my posts were deleted. A club that isn't clear with its members and doesn't want their feedback isn't a club, it's a business.

Turtle Master
05-18-2012, 06:45 PM
I know they mean well, but the whole 'we book our tickets 4 weeks out' is like whe they pointed out that staff also got hacked. Unprofessional excuse-making.

I'm a member and I'll be doing the FSS, but at this point I think everyone has to agree that the club staff are bad at their jobs.

Not sure of the relevance of this or why you've posted it in a bunch of random threads but whatever.

This thread really isn't news. We knew this would happen. The Club has been failing since the Dial Tone fiasco last year. Remember they sold more subs then they had Dial Tones so they gave out random 5 dollar membership figures from years past to make up for it? Yeah they've been going downhill ever since.

Communication has been a problem with the club long before the Dial-Tone Incident. That didn't help their reputation, but it is far from their first huge mistake.

Unfortunately, it seldom seems they learn from their mistakes.

It's the exact same stuff we've seen. All they did was take the pics they had, copy and pasted the troopers and stuck everyone together. Notice how all the double figures are in the same pose and one another and all of figures are in the same exact pose as their premiere photo.

I swear the club thinks 90% of us are just retarded.

Do you think that registration will be today? After all, it seems as if they took the weekend off and if they could not get everything done all of last week and the previous 2 days before it (it was implied that registration could have been up at anytime soon for the past 12 days straight). What will be so different today that will make it work?

Dear Brian Savage. Pick a date and time. Announce that date and time. Shut up until that date and time. Begin registration at that date and time.

Stop with the excuses. The Club only comes off as being more and more incompetent with every day that goes by where they say registration will open only to say it won't by the end of the day.

Did the Subscription Service flop not teach them anything?

Thanks for that! I normally would have thought spam right away, but I had problems last week where the club didn't have my account active even though it showed me as paid (they fixed the problem). Today, I just assumed there was still a problem. Luckily though, they were just going to spam like you mentioned.

For what it's worth,

I just got off the phone with the club. The very pleasant (seriously, great phone voice/etiquette) woman I spoke to highly doubts that the registration will go live this afternoon. She sounded tired, but we had a nice talk about the webstore, and that they are waiting on the programmers.

So, keep an eye out, but CS rep for the club doubts it will be live today.

Oh, and if you do call, be polite to Angie and Karen...if Brian answers the phone, chew him out :P

Seriously? If the club were a responsible organization, they would have sent out an email 3 hours ago with this info. Instead, they'll wait until 4 central time and send out an "Oops, not today. Sorry again" email AFTER we've waited by the PC all day long.

Well, it looks like my assumption was correct. They took the weekend off and did not get anything done. You would think that they would want to get it up as soon as possible, especially, after the wonderful email in which they wrote to us on Friday around 4 p.m. CST. They stated that they are just as upset about this as we are. They also stated that they wait until 4-weeks usually to book their flights. Can that be right? 4-weeks. Also, do they really fly? That is a lot of product to check in at the airport. Plus, it doesn't matter if you wit until 4-weeks are left as they would get a group rate in-which would be cheaper than the average member. Also, would the said flight not be a tax right-off for their company? Just wondering.

I love these from Facebook, "How was Botcon able to register but, not Joecon?" & "wow this is getting weird we still have no registration. I figured with bot con over 3 1/2 weeks ago things would be all set for joe con but here we are 37 days out and we can't even register yet."

The Club's answer, "There were issues with BotCon registration that had to be addressed for GIJoeCon. Please understand, I am not a programmer and I am not in involved in all communication about every problem we are having. Brian has been sending emails each day to keep everyone abreast of the situation. Believe me, we want this to happen, but we are counting on others to make this right. We are pushing them HARD. Have you seen Brian on his Mac laptop at Joecon? He's always up in front of the seminars working on technical difficulties. The game show in particular was delayed once. I picture a similar scenario at Club HQ?

Personally I just pray that I'm able to get one of the Non-attendee packages, and that registration for it doesn't happen on Wednesday. Hoping for Thursday or later on that one.

Dear Club Member

I am Brian Savage, the chief of the GI Joe collectors club and considered a sex machine amongst your fine bitches.. I am mailing you in respect of the present development going on with GI Joe collectors club.

I decided to contact you after much investigation which was carried out by the Bureau of GI Joe Investigation (BGI) and the The Club's Internet Police Service to make sure our site is free of these fraudulent activities which is going on here in the internets and for our organization to bear a good name.

Our internet police detected that boxes with funds in the amount of Ten Million United Stated Dollars belonging to you were been smuggled into our offices by The Corps Collectors Club who were on transit. These men were trying to escape out from our office with the trunk boxes when the airport authority detected that these boxes contain huge amount of United State Dollars.

After much investigation we found out that these men were among those men spoiling the good name of the GI Joe collectors club. They opened up to us that, they actually work with a financial institution before their dismissal and used the opportunity to perpetuate their crimes; They told us that the funds inside the boxes is to be transferred to you some time ago but now they planned to turn back on you and decided to take the money all to themselves out of the country. We later found out on the investigation that was carried that these men are truly members of a well established organization to act on their criminal activities, Trouble Magnet knows who I'm talking about. It rhymes with the kews.

As I write you this mail, these men that were caught are now in the custody of our break room, while we are trying to track the others that left because they have proved to us that they belong to one organization. I will advise you, never should you opened up this present development to them that you are aware of now so they will not run away.

That is why we have to reach you by your mail address and name that was tagged the boxes so we can make the arrangement on the delivery of the boxes to your doorstep and allow you to register for Joecon.Your response will be very much appreciated as soon as you have received this email.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Hello all!

Well, once again I have to tell you registration is not going to be up today. I'm going to give them all day tomorrow to retest the system so we will try again on Wednesday. There are some individual browsers that are creating java issues with required fields and we don't want your information to come in incomplete as this could hinder your registration being approved.

Again, just to make sure when it does go live that your registration is error free, please review the new package matrix and the FAQs.

Thanks for your patience.

Yes, I'm rather fond of the daily "no new news" emails we get. I can't wait until we get the "due to the holiday weekend," email excuse. Yeah, the club has figured out how to use email updates. Now, if they can figure out how to run the club, that would be super!!

I think that most will be fine and easy with the delays to register as long as the Club lets us know in a timely manner. Don't make us wait around all day on Wednesday and then tell us at the end of the business hours for the Club that they are may have the next day.

They really should let us know around 1 p.m. CST at the latest each day instead of leading us to believe that it may happen that day, in my opinion.

Don't forget - the Club did the opposite as well with Horror Show, telling us that it would be the next day before it was posted ... and then the figure showed up that night! There is clearly some massive issues with the Club and technology.

I think that they did that so that as well as reveal the remaining 3 photos for the Adventure Team 12-inch figure so that they could start registration that same day or the next day. Thus, other than today, it has been 9 Business Days in a row that they led us to believe that registration would be happening on any one of them.

Informative, yes. However, the Club would not have those problems in losing money as they say if they would just pay the fees and temporarily use a service like Paypal. It is Time-Stamped, Secure, and Quick and easy to use.

I really see those posts as nothing more than excuses to deflect the negativity. As members, we have not gotten our
magazine on time for the past 3 months. As members, we cannot access the forums. As members, we have not been able to buy product. As members, we are ignored when we email them. As members, what is the benefit again? We, should really get a break or a partial refund worthy at least 3 months off of our membership price as there have been nothing to buy, no use of the forums and our magazine has been late each time.

Also, I love the part about them spending night and day trying to get this up and running. Why are they taking the weekends off and the evenings off after business hours if this is true? I understand that they have a life, but they should have had this done when the online system first went up 2 months ago. With all of the problems that they have had, you would think that this would take priority over everything else and that it is done in a timely manner? How was it that the Transformers Club were able to register again?

I do not mean to be harsh, it is just as a member, I feel as if we are constantly being ignored by the Club. It is kind of like those investigative shows when a ponzy scheme is the theme, they ask many for their money, but never deliver. I am not saying that the Club is doing that at all nor do I want to make other think that they are, I am just using it as an example.

Is money the problem? After all, they have missed their deadline on the Club Newsletter for 3 months straight. They pushed back the Figure Subscription. They have not been able to get their online systems running. Their communication is deflecting the real issues on the time-frame when registration will go live. If it is the Golden Ticket issue in trying to calculate that in the new system, get rid of it this year. But, they have to have it to recoup the cost in paying for this new service that costs more than most of us make in a year per those two links above.

Of course, I want to support the Business and keep paying them for their products that they give us. I just hope that it is not worse than we are thinking. I ope that it is around for a long while. Once, it is fixed that is.

That's exactly what the club has been saying is the issue. Apparently during TF Con registration they had some problems when people used certain browsers and it would cut off customer information, and they wanted to fix that before the Joecon registration.

Personally, if it really is just a browser issue, I would have just told people that you only support specific browsers, and then don't let anyone register with the browser that isn't working (probably IE).

Apparently. While I know that browser bugs are some of the most frustrating bugs to fix, six weeks is an awfully long time to spend on it. I hope the club gets a new tech company after all these issues.

On the plus side, TF Con registration started like two weeks before the con, so we're lucky that we will have three to four weeks, right?!?

Hmm...

Love the latest post on their FB page:

"FAQ - What are your questions about the show (other than "when does registration go live")? Post here and I will pass along so we can update the FAQ on the Con webpage."

At this point, does anyone care about anything besides when registration is? If you don't know if you'll be able to register--thus attend--it's a pretty moot point to ask questions about things that may or may not affect you.

Actually, the registration for the Transformers convention started in January, closed down during the credit card problems, and re-opened a few weeks before the con. Most people that registered did it months before the convention.

Maybe, the IT company that they are using now are the people whom hacked it in the first place so that that can get more business. After all, they have managed to delay it long enough so that they get paid extra by the days gone by.

Anyway, the Club did say it is looking promising when asked on Facebook about the registration within the last hour. I hope that "promising" means that it will be today.

The main issue is that they do not currently have a way of telling whom purchased the Golden Ticket first. If you do it by mail or fax, then they would have a lot of problems. The buyers need an instant confirmation that their order had went through instead of wondering.

From reading their messages, I don't think it's the payment portion that is holding up the show. They are already paying for a checkout system, so allowing Paypal probably wouldn't change anything at this point. The issue they were talking about was that when certain browsers are used, not all of the customer's information gets written to the order, so they can't tell who it was that ordered the registration.

Actually it's not at all "clarified." It's a simple question that has not been addressed. If they're holding off until all attendees have had a chance to order a boxed set, then how long will they wait? Is there a set amount of boxes, or a set length of time? Are they still intending to offer Homefront Heroes at all?

I know I'm just a measly little non-attendee insect and the club has made me feel tinier and less significant with each post of this kind, but I'd still like an answer.

This doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. You say you understand that the attendees should get first dibs, but when they actually do that you say it means they don't care about the rest of the members?

Personally, I completely agree that people that want to actually go to the con should be assured a set, and then any left overs can be bought by others. These are con exclusives after all. Their whole purpose is to entice people to come to the con.

You say you want to know what to expect. Well, they've already told you what to expect. They are going to offer the sets to people that want to go to the con, and then a few days later they are going to offer the rest to everybody else. Do you want to know if they are going to sell out? I think the movie premier event had taken place of a parachute drop event. You're looking at 5 weeks before the con, not two months. I highly doubt they'd be able to get any figures made in time. Maybe they're trying to work with Hasbro on a parachute drop figure that has already been in production. Here's hoping they drop a bunch of night vipers or CGs from the Retaliation line.

But they can simply call the club and say they are making changes in x and y areas. The club, not knowing what's coming but knowing the brochure would be inaccurate, would be forced to hold off. Companies that deal more intricately can take educated and 100% right guesses about these changes (if the company making comics for Joe also do the cardback artwork, you can easily read into the next changes down the road when they call), but it's not in their best interests to jump the gun or make the call. They prepare for what they see and when the call comes in right they are ready to move.

The club, and not just a few other vendors, were left without a chair when the music stopped. They have to scramble to find a seat at the table now. This is something they would have handled a LOT better save the perfect storm of virus and website issues and all the problems that's created.

Anyone can take the first punch in business, it's when the blows keep coming from many different places that you start to reel and go down.

Officially, the Club didn't change the date for the movie. They have claimed up and down that it was changed because of a conflict with the convention site. I never believed that but that's what they said.

It was changed because of a conflict with the convention site. You can either believe the words coming from MY mouth or not :)

OK. Sorry. I was unjustly blamingHasbro/Paramount for that issue. Instead, the Club can accept its share of the blame for the date change.
My original point was that I feel sorry for the Club being jerked around so much by things that are out of its control.

The club never officially announced the convention site in the beginning did they? I remember they announced the dates and that was it. I am correct about this?

I'll admit, one of my first thoughts was that all the location and registration mania was related to this insane film news and you guys just weren't allowed to say anything. And then of course once I actually started thinking about it instead of reacting to it... I realized that the Club had no idea this was going to happen. And that these things are not related. Nothing that has transpired on the Club's end could be related to this news. It wouldn't make sense. It DOESN'T make sense. I thought it did until I considered everything BUT the timing. Sure the timing makes it seem "obvious" but the information makes the premise that registration's delay had anything to do with yesterday's news almost sound silly. So I'd listen to Pete, guys. Maybe not if Pete tells you to run down the street with a box on your head and ear plugs in... but I'm pretty confident we can take his word on this absolutely insane turn of events as it relates to the Club and Con.

Good points. I think emotions are high right now, for obvious reasons, and everyone needs to take a chill pill. That includes the execs at Hasbro and Paramount. lol

On the toy side... there's no way Hasbro wanted this. I'd be surprised if they even knew about it considering Paramount is the bigger animal.
But one of the points that was brought up last night on WOJM was that Hasbro hopefully realizes that even if they want to be a major hollywood player independent of their Disney and Lucasfilm ties or even in conjunction... that they remember that it was TOYS that got them this far. Not film. Not hollywood. Not 3D. Not Channing. TOYS.

KEVIN! I'd kiss your ass before I'd kiss Pete's. I've only met Pete once.
(No offense Pete). Besides I have zero reason to kiss the Club's ass until I've registered for con. Then... MAYBE. But I'd do anything at this point to
go to con so really beggars can't be choosers.

Forget the con, i would kiss anyone at the club's ass if it meant I could get my Footloose. Then I'll worry about the con.

Anyone taking bets on what we see first, Retaliation or the Club's subscription service?

The truth of the matter is we want to do a Joe show late March 2013 so we told Paramount to change the date...

Just blame us!

Pete -- Actually, I was wondering when someone would start the speculation about Joe Con 2013. Will it be in late March to coincide with the re-scheduled movie release? That would mean it would have to be someplace warm. Maybe Disney World again? lol
