ok this is my first time getting a stinger aka fang boat since I was a kid and even then my original one was the tigerforce repaint.

This is a nice repaint of an old mold the only non stickers on this are the cobra logos on the storage pods and the bottom of the boat.
the driver is amazing if they could only have made him properly I would army build the heck outa them he really has a feel of the old original Swamp viper from the Arah time. not the AVAC repaint from the POC line.

all in all I give this a solid 7 outa 10

and just for those worried the crapastic launcher is removable just need to find a replacment side cannon can anyone answer me if a vintage stinger cannon will fit the 25th version ?

It should be a crime to sculpt so awesome a figure, and then give it no articulation. Serious jail time.

Got this a while ago and I pretty much agree with your assessment. The launcher only bothers me in so much as it is, once again, bright red. If the colour was more muted, it could vey easily be explained as some form of torpedo launcher system.

Not sure why they re-cast the engine shroud, making it shorter so the thumb-wheel is acessable, as it creates a bit of a cavity behind the gunner station.

don't suppose you have one of the other re-relases of this to see if you can swap the cannons ?

The colours on this "fang-boat" seem really good.

The launcher seems too obtrusive for the overall vehicle aesthetics though. Good to know that it is removable.

The sculpt of the figure is so good. Shame, to see such wasted potential.

Hasbro completely retooled this from scratch for the 25th line. Vintage boats are much smaller than the ones hitting the shelves in recent years.

The original Water Mocassin cannon probably won't fit, but the 25th Sting Raider one should. If you really want to test the fit of that, just take the one on the left and try it on the right side. I believe the cannons were the same on both sides. Or if the cannons are mirror of each other, then remove the one on the left side and see if the slots are mirror image of each other as well and you'll know. I believe if you have the Sting Raider or the ROC repaint, then you can swap that cannon.

As for this one, if it weren't for those bright red parts, I would probably pick one up, but I just can't get past those bright red parts. However, if the figure was fully articulated, i probably would have bought the vehicle just to get that figure though. Bad move on Hasbro's part.

Is there any articulation at all, or are these plastic statues? I'm just wondering if it'd be worth adding them as Nullifiers for my Iron Grenadier army.

How about adding articulation to these drivers and releasing them carded later on.

That's easier said than done. The entire body would have to be retooled exactly like a new figure would be. I love this figure a lot but simply hate the lack of articulation. Hasbro tricked us. They cut the articulation on the drivers. So naturally we hate the drivers. But then they release this figure and it has me torn. I'm wondering if he will even be with displaying or if he will look better with just his helmet poking out of the boat.

What a piece of shit....I don't think I'm buying any vehicles from this line and maybe a half dozen figs from wave's 1 and 2 (opening them of course). I'll take all of wave 3 and 4 though....and 5 if they actually make them. It's a shame too....everything from 25th and on I've collected all of it and left it carded but how am I supposed to hang this crap on my wall when it's the same package over and over.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to spend all my money on the joecon sets, sdcc stuff and FSS.

Oh yeah, anybody have those dollar general figs they want to give up? Let me know

Or serious reduction in postion, pay, and loss of company vehicle..if not relegated to Barbie or I love My Pony..I am (0_0) looking at you board of directors...^_^

Dont like the captain america colors...looks like ii belongs in that show not gi joe...

Also on the canons, can the missile launcher go on either side? you could buy 2 (once on clearence) and have one as a missile boat and the other as a gun boat (swapping parts between the 2)

That Swamp Viper head is too cool for Hasbro not to use it on a real figure in the future. At least I hope so. I only got the vehicles for the figures, so this line saves me a ton of money.

yup that head is on a balljoint as are all the drivers heads.

to answer some of the other questions he had shoulder swivel and leg swivel and ball jointed head that the lot not even a waist swivel !!

the color is an orangy red so no it doesn't match the toxo-vipers

currently I'm working on a way to make him for articulated (ie replacing 90% of him but trying to keep the torso intact as much as possible )

Man. I saw the marvel non articulated drivers at dollar general for $6. I can't believe they charge that much for that junk. This reminds me of revenge of the sith drivers. Very disappointing. GI Joe was always "fully Poseable" now we get 30 year old star wars figures articulation instead. Lame!

Put his head on a hazard viper body to start with, that's what I did. Now I just need some orange legs that aren't as baggy. The swamp viper's head isn't as mushy as the Hiss Tank CC's, thankfully, you can't even headswap HIM.

This makes me really glad I picked up the ROC TRU version a few months back. They really should have redone this to match the movie version with the two fans. Easy to see Hasbro aiming at kids 100% and not at all to the collector.

I have to say, now that I've seen good pics, I'll be picking this up. It's got a better color scheme that fits well with the 80's color aesthetic of the ASP, Ferret and the like. The head of the driver isn't bad, not sure what body to put it on yet but I'm sure it will come to me soon enough.

yeah I really don't get hasbro's veiw point on the cost cutting about articulation looks at the examples so far they said that the main reason they cut cost was due to new sculpting so far we've seen two if the new vehicle drivers used figures that had existing figures with standard tooling. IE swamp viper and pilot duke (based on the data viper figure) so Hasbro went and paid sumone more money to scuplt these into 5 point bricks ? wheres the cost cutting on that?

I know the figure has no articulation, but I love the design. Anyone who hates theirs is welcome to send it my way as I need two more Swamp Vipers for my collection.
