Hey Tankers! I tried to put a custom contest together once before and it didn’t go to well so after some thought and changes I wanted to try another. Let me know what you think, if I should change anything, and if you would participate in this. I want to get some feedback before I submit this contest to HISSTANK.com. Also I am looking for a couple of judges to help me, if you’re interested please PM me. Photo Submission Only
Custom Contest for the best unproduced modern/25th style figure

2nd Place will receive a $20 gift card
3rd Place will get a high five, jk; you get a MOC ME Iron Grenadier
Rules:
Free entry
Unlimited entries but only one can place
Photo Submission Only
Submission cannot have been submitted in a previous contest (results in disqualification)
Figure pool is any unproduced figure from the ME/25th era; even figures that have never been produced or made up

I love buying customs and admire what you all can do!!! I wish I had that kind of talent. Here are a couple of pictures of some of the customs I’ve purchased over the years. If any are your customs feel free to go ahead a plug your work. If anyone has any question LMK.

The problem with the last contest you proposed was that you wanted all of the entries sent to you (and we would not get them back).
Are we now allowed to just send you photos for judging?

I'd clarify that in the original post. Just to support your cause... The reaction to your last contest proposal got a bit... heated. It may make everyone a little more open to participate.
Just a thought! :D

I thought by having people submitting them and a high prize that people would be intrested but that was my bad. Still trying to test the water. I meant do disrespect just wanted to show my appreciation. What do you think of this idea? Any changes?

No! I think it's a cool contest... it's been done before, but our pool of figures to draw from is getting smaller and smaller as the years go by, so you may get some very interesting (and unique) submissions. I may even submit something (and I haven't one a custom in years)!

I'd be interested in submitting a custom. I'd probably not win, but still, it'd be fun.

a poll is always good to have on the contest too for others to vote....get three other judges and let the rest vote..dam that sounds like american idol

I'd say you've got it figured out now.
The list is getting smaller but you still have a lot of characters from the comics, movies, and cartoon that haven't been produced in addition to reproducing versions of pre 25th figures.

Does it have to be a new, previously unshown custom or one we may have done and have ready to go already?

Not sure about a theme, I was thinking of trying something like that but I wasn't sure what to do it on. Plus I wanted to give a larger selection pool. Did you have a theme in mind?

lol, That is exactly what I was going for.

I'd like to see some new work submitted but what do you think would work best?

I think we should be allowed to submit any custom, but it one that was shown before or not. Cause for me, I won't have time to make another custom for a while...haha.

Actually this brings up a question I wanted to ask, how long should a contest be? I want to give people time to create something if they needed to start fresh.
Also what do you think of this? You can submit an custom created awhile ago but it can't be one that was submitted in a previous contest.

^ My thoughts can go either way. I have the time right now to tackle maybe two or three customs as I ease myself back in for the spring before the weather and summer activities ramp up. If we were able to use one already completed it's an easy go at it.
I do know in other contests though it had to be an all new, unseen creation. This way you aren't submitting one that already has a following.
Your contest, your rules though. It also depends when the contest starts and stops. It may not be in the next month or two, or maybe it will be. I'll watch for updates. Anything I have planned right now are just improved previously released characters.
As for a theme, wouldn't it be that it's a contest dedicated to the unproduced and unreleased? What other theme could go with it?

I was thinking of begining this contest on the 1st of June and Ending it on the 27th of July. Think that is enough time or too much time?
Also the theme I was thinking was Iron Grenadiers since it's going to be a hot item for Joe Con. But I was concerned with it being too small of a pool to pick from.

Now you figured it pretty nice man. High five from me too :)
U said character that didnt make apperence in modern era? That is pretty cool idea, I have a small chances to win but I think Im in anyway.

I'm in. Would think 2 entries per person might be a good limit...

Yeah, who does that really leave us to make. I am def not familiar with them beyond Destro, Voltar, Darklon and the trooper. For me that sub group just isn't interesting enough. If you really want variety just leave it at characters that haven't been translated into the modern era. Perhaps limit it first version incarnations, so for example no Rock N Roll or Low Light v2 since they got the modern treatment one way or another already.

I would love to do that but I don't think it would be fair to everyone. But I was thinking you could submit multiple but would only have one chance to place. What do you think of that idea?
If this contest goes well I promise to do many, many more. I already have a few ideas bouncing around for other contest but I wanted to start with something simple and keep it open to anyone.

I think I wanna get down on this. I've never made a custom before but I've been wanting to do one. My 7yr old son does awesome kitbashes/partswaps, and has blown my mind on occasions with choices he makes in picking parts, right down to the hands. Anyway, I'm in.

Yeah, sorry I was looking for more of a Modern Style fig but I can do RAH in the future
Just so there is no confusion, it's not an IG custom contest, I was just throwing out some ideas I had. This will be any figures that have not been produced in the ME/25th style. I'm even cool with figures that have never been made before or made up figures.

id be in...i like the idea for made up entries too...maybe 2 categories? one for a modern remake of an un- remade character and one for original character?

So I've been thinking about this for a few hours now but I just don't think I can afford to have two grand prizes. I really like the idea of custom unmade figures from the Joeverse and if everything goes okay with this contest I would like to hold a contest on just unmade figures sometime in the future. But they can still be submitted for this contest as well.

I'm in either way, but my 2 cents would be that if you're planning to do a future contest for original characters, extended universe type deals, then maybe hold off on having those entered this time around. I'd keep it simple and just keep to modern updates, but that's just me. Unless it's multiple categories, with multiple prizes, best to keep it streamlined.

Yep, they would all be eligible for the contest but you can only win once per contest and after you enter any work it is only good for that contest. I will not accept the same submission on any future contest I hold. I would recommened only submitting a couple unless you have a tons of customs laying around.

Great News! I got approval from the HISSTANK.com staff and the contest will be up and running as of 1 June 2012!!! I have to make a couple edits to the main post before it starts but everything is looking good. Thanks to everyone who is supporting this contest.

Cool idea!
I agree with Flatline, why no ARAH allowed? There are still a lot of unproduced ARAH figures to do. There are even ME characters that could be done in ARAH. The more customs in this contest, the more fun IMO.......
