Off the top off my head and why I liked them:

Snake Eyes : My first GI Joe, even though I thought he was a bad guy then.

Major Bludd : He just looked like a cool villain.

Roadblock : He carried a .50 cal. Total badass.

Firefly : Taught me what a saboteur was and it was mysterious and cool.

Storm shadow : Loved the ninja accessories.

Zartan : The color change and disguise features.

Snake Eyes V2 : He had a pet wolf. Total badass.

BAT : The arm attachments.

Frostbite : Loved the huge scope on his m-16. Snow Cat was awesome too.

Tollbooth : Simple. My dad was a combat engineer. And the bridge layer featured in a lot of my battles.

Its probably impossible for me to list my top ten favorite figures, there are so many that I really really love and it depends on the mission.

My top ten favorite characters is a bit easier for me, that includes:

89 Snake Eyes - liked him so much, bought a second one at 9 years old because I wore out my first one.
88 Storm Shadow - always liked him better as a Joe, again, had a second one with a broken right arm, might have happened in a sword battle
89 Stalker - first stalker figure, always liked the Kayak
89 Rock & Roll - anyone who remembers this figure had to like him
