One of the few reasons I liked the origins series, and i've noticed he's not been around since. Any idea what happened to him?

I would like to know that too. I have read every Joe Comic so far out there (Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, DDP, Fun Publications and IDW) and through it all, I cannot remember.

That's something I would like to know. Seemed they were setting him up to be a major up and coming player before the civil war started. He was interesting. He had potential. I even slapped the 30th spiky haired Duke head on a Cobra Shocktrooper to have a figure that represented him in his Colossus security get-up.

Also, I wonder how the Cobra Facility on the Moon is able to sustain for all of these months. It is as if IDW relaunched itself and do not use their original stuff as cannon anymore. Kind of like they hid it and do not speak of it anymore.

^ That is kinda true, and somewhat annoying.

IDW. the best thing it had going was Chuckles and Monk and they blew it. Would have been cool to see them face off.

It isn't able to sustain itself. I believe it was mentioned somewhere that destroying the MASS device would completely isolate Cobra's moon base and well, nature would take it's course. Other than Monk, they didn't forget or reboot anything. The main stories came to a head and ended, then new storylines began. Michael Monk's purpose is to take down Krake. At the end of Monk's storyline, we still didn't know who Krake was or why he is so dangerous. Now we do! It's going to be that much cooler when Monk comes back now. The same writers and editors are involved. You've got to believe that Monk will return.

Gotta agree. Monk was our introduction to Krake. Now that Krake is the head snake, I expect him to return. As for the moon colony- not all loose ends need to be tied up completely. They already showed the epilogue to the moon base calling for help. Showing more would be redundant. Leaving these ends somewhat untied allows for possibilities later in the series of weaving these story lines back in.

I do believe he will. I can't wait for it!

I was just thinking about this the other day. I do hope he returns.

If Copperback can return after the entire Civil War, so can Monk.

there's an ask the editor thread on the IDW forum. I asked this very question. No answer yet, but there aren't many questions in it so hopefully I get an answer. I'll share here if I do.

Monk was a cool character.

A handful of people asked about Monk in the last ask the editor at IDW. They responded something along the lines that they didn't realize people wanted him back so they would think about it. The issue is that he was created by someone who is not a normal GI Joe creator at the end of the run of a series. Your best bet of seeing Monk would be to let IDW know you want to see him.

At this point it doesn't matter. With they're reboot(next month) I'm done. I want to pick up Special Missions but it's tied into the regular Joe book. Guess it's just ARAH for me. I'll check out the new Cobra Book and see how it goes.
Monk would have been an awesome character if they wanted him to be. IDW just makes up characters, just to end up dead like poor Bazooka. With Retaliation and now the comics, looks like G.I. Joe is starting to fade away from my point of view. :(

Strange.. because I've already seen plenty of people trying to figure it out what's going on with this character. Personally, one of my favourite new characters. His backstory was in par of most of the Cobra issues. I hope IDW will get him back to a story soon.

Yeah his was an odd creation. Not sure what the plan was. They definitely put a lot of work into his origin making him seem very important. And then when Krake became Commander it seemed that Monk would surely return, but nope.
