I've seen pleanty of prototypes and test-shots over the years, but this thought just popped into my head.
What's keeping someone from casting parts in all one color, putting the figure together, and then trying to sell it on eBay as a prototype or test-shot?
John Cena is the only prototype I recognize

#1 reason is probably return on investment. In general, unpainted single color Test shots don't sell for very much compared to Custom Cast figures.... The price differences are going to be less than $100 on average, and the risk isn't worth doing so.
#2 Vintage Test shots use production metal rivets...I'm unaware of anybody finding a reliable source for, or way to install quality metal rivets.
#3 Most High End collectors will expect some type of provanance...some history or evidence an item is genuine...Some times comming from a specific seller is enough... If Joe Blow from Texas starts pumping out Fire Red V2 Snake Eyes "Test Shots" people are going to question where they came from.
#4 Once in hand a figure cast with Modern resins versus what Hasbro would have used can be easily identified by Collectors who know what they're dealing with.

These show up at least once or twice a year. Not too many of them out there but they do pop up now and again. They're pretty cool for what they are.
They were actually one of the first things I reviewed a couple years ago on here.
Just google or search Gyre-Viper McCullen Destro or something like that.
Thanks!
Man I would so go for it if I had the money too! Yeah, thats a little to much for me just for a prototype!
That would be something if that guy stoled them from the factory that he probably works at!
Man these guys are ending tonight! I was soooo close to putting a bid on them but stopped myself!
I had a friend that bid on them at $80 and he got a second chance offer and Another guy of a site Bid $75 and said he got a second chance offer too! My friend emaild him and asked why so many people got a 2nd chance offer, he said he has extra in stock So this guy from Hong Kong must have atleast 10 of these!
The guy that won it for $128 should of lost them and he could have gotten ALOT CHEAPER offer on them from that same guy!
What do you guys make of that?
