Show us your G.I. JOE figure alterations Sideshow fans!

Although (IMO) Sideshow figures are awesome, they are not perfect. Everyone has his/her own interpretation of what his/her favorite G.I. JOE character is supposed to look like. I have been totally amazed with what Sideshow is doing with the G.I. JOE line, but have not been fully satisfied with the interpretations of some of the characters. So I have made some alterations on some of my figures to make them my own. I have seen quite a few awesome alterations done to these Sideshow figures around here so I thought it would be pretty cool to see them all in one thread.

If you have made any alterations to your Sideshow G.I. JOE figures, post them here. If you thought everything Sideshow did with a particular figure was totally wrong, and you can make a better version, then full on customs are welcome as well. So enough with the jibber-jabber and show us your alterations. I can’t wait to see your interpretations.

Minor alterations made to Flint are the beret and the web gear. I think the flocked berets look better on the figures (in person). I also arranged the web belt to look closer to the original figure.

Very cool. I like those better on Cobra Commander. The Nazi officer boots look much more menacing than the ones he originally comes with.

oh man I gotta take some picks when I get home. I gave Flint a machete, cause I always imagine him hacking through the jungle or swamp and its also so he can use it if things get up close and personal.

I picked up one of these for my Snake Eyes figure. I;m customizing a V1 head for him, 'cause the SS visor head doesn't quite cut it for me.

i really hope they put out a "cobra viper fix kit" with an alternative to that half ass rig they gave him, doesnt even look like the vipers shit, i wont even display mine with that horrid thing on. they look better with out it, but i really want their arah kit

I'm using the Hot Toys Barney Ross body. Hood was cut from a Sideshow Jedi Robe died and wired to bend to shape. I also exchanged the chin guards with the Cobra Viper ones (just the chin guards). Some painting and weathering here and there and that's it.:wink1:

Wow Commtech, looks really good. Nicely done. The shin guards definitely do look better on Zartan than on the Viper.

I totally agree about the beret. However, I also had problems with the beret color - it should be green. So I got an extra flocked, green beret from a Sideshow Stalker and use that. I would like to find a better head... in my opinion, the worst thing about a lot of these figures (Flint and Beach head especially) is the face sculpt.

1)Rock n Roll's body,

2) I added a small kunai dagger and tucked it into his ankle wrap so Stormy would have quick access to it and I felt like the bottom 1/2 of the figure needed something added.

3) I also brought some nunchuks off of ebay since i missed out on the exclusive version.

4) I have also ordered a hooded sweatshirt that I will be giving him to give him more of the look he has in IDW... but its coming from Hong Kong so its still a couple weeks away

Finally got tired of my skinny Snake Eyes and totally re-did him today. Put everything on a Hot Toys Indiana Jones body, added a head from Firefly and goggles from a Viper. The gloves are from Firefly as well, though I'm not 100% on them yet. Also have some new boots coming in. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated!

Hah! Snake Eyes is the one who's taken the most work to get "right", as even with the new one Sideshow seems intent on giving us one with a pinhead and iffy proportions overall. I also did a bit of tinkering with Rock 'N Roll, though all that came down to was adding kneepads and giving him some black boots to break up how bland his lower body looked. You can also spot my Dusty repaint there in the back.

NOT a custom but for any of you who have the Side Show Viper and Zartan are they worth picking up? I've been thinking about these for some time now but some of the picks aren't very flattering to what I was hoping these would look like. BUT I do realize these look much different in person.
