Hey guys I'm new to this board but posted these tips on Joedios so I thought I would share this info with my new Joe friends!!!

Hey Guys I use to work in the retail world....I use to be an Xbox rep and I was always in the stores....now I have my own company but that's besides the point, although I can go to the stores when I want too, he-he. My wife works for a major cosmetics company and calls on these stores daily and she's on the look out too for my Joes and I still get insider info on store workings.

The following is general tips...I live in Houston TX so the scheduling of deliveries may be different in your area....just ask when your stores usually get trucks in, and for Wal-Mart and Target ask when they usually get toys in....they have trucks a couple of times a week and toys aren't always on there, but at least once a week toys do come on the trucks. Mid to late Morning is generally the best time to go because they either stock overnight or early morning. Wal-Mart is going to a no back-stock system so when they get it in the back it's going out onto the floor. Target is already like this. Little to no back-stock.

Wal-Mart and Target, I believe as well, generates a re-order when an item is sold. When it goes through the register it generates a re-order, now whether they have it in their warehouse is another story(up to Hasbro to get it to them) but that's how it works.

Wal-mart generally gets a truck twice a week that contains toys...Wednesdays are the big day, if you can try in the mid to late morning that is usually your best bet.

For Target usually Saturday is their big stock out day. I was on the toy aisle a few Saturday's ago and picked up the entire Wave 2 as he stocked it on the wall. It was around 10 am, again morning is your best bet. I went in last weekend and picked up all of Wave 3 around the same time and scored like I did with the Wave 2.

Toys R us gets a couple of trucks each week but again go in the mid to late morning for your best chances to buy.

I would see collectors, actually ebay junkies who would buy everything on the shelf just to turn around and sell-it....would drive me nuts, especially if I was hunting something down.

Anyway, guys if you want something the online retailers are the best bet...just pre-order and you'll get it. I pre-order mine through Big Bad Toy Store, but after release I go through smalljoes and HTS as well.

Hope the retail tips helps.....sometimes you have to just be lucky.

****EDIT****

I forgot to mention K-mart, well we don't have K-Marts anymore in Houston, but they generally follow the same as Wal-Marts as far as replenishments, stock outs, and received shipment schedule.

KB Toys...ah forgot about them, LOL....they are a little unique. They receive shipments multiple times a week...what's on the truck is anyones guess even the managers. This is because they receive the majority of their inventory via UPS.

They get it early morning and they stock out around mid to late morning. KB has closed a lot of stores nationwide due to competition to Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, and Target. That's why I didn't really mention them, plus I have always found them to be a dollar to two more expensive than the other stores. Like I said, a good portion of their stuff comes UPS since they are usually located in malls but there are some free standing stores, the may receive large truck shipments. So you can always ask them when the UPS guy usually comes.

Also another good place ot go is Tuesday Mornings...if you have them in your area check them out....they are a re-sale place. Basically they get the over stock or closeout/deleted items from Wal-Mart, Target, etc. That's where I found my Crimson helicopter for 10 bucks apiece a couple of years ago. You never know what they might have or when they have it.

Hope these tips help everyone!!!

Tips, hmm be consistent in looking. I checked out two walmarts in town and neither had any of them...not only did they not carry the 25th anniversary figs but had absolutely not one GIJoe product!! Isn't that insane? One of the many reasons I absolutely despise Wal mart. Continually disappointed. I am sure some people have had some great scores though. I dont think its a secret just ask when trucks with toys come in and follow up.

target has been good, but not lately. i agree about walmart, i have gotten 1 25th there total. i have been noticing the elite corps figs on 25th pegs in every wal-mart i have been in. it is tragic.

No surprise with those half-wits working their magic.

one tip on Wal-mart:

They get a truck every night of the week. They also stock 24 hours a day. They primarily stock on overnights, so the best time to check is around 3 am to 8 am. Befriend a stock boy or department mgr and your hunt will be easier.

Normally, i have the habit to just go to Wal*Mart before they close and scope out what they'll be stocking, if i see something, i'll ask to see if they'd be kind enough to open it for me. It's worked numerous times in the past, and has tonight when hunting down some Cars figures... I also hit the 24 Hr sites too because they're stocking them live between 9:30-12am. You'll find your scalpers but if you have the time, it's be best way to find something you need. Alot of it has to do with luck also, because you'll either hit or miss. I've hit up a Target around 11am while they were stocking on a Thursday and scored wave 3, gone numerous times when they open and nothing.

Luckily, there isn't much for me to go out and find now since i've got what i need, so it'll be a nice cool down period until the next waves come out or if i want to chase SW figures.

The wal-marts around me don't even carry 25th Joes. My best buddy works at a Walmart though and talks about it all the time.

It's All Repition And Luck Don't Try To Make It A Science It Won't Work. For Example I've Gone To Target By My Job Every Morning Before Work Found A Couple Things....went There On A Hum Bug One Night At 7 Pm, Stock Guy Was Cool As Shit, BRought 5 Cases Of Wave 3 He Brought Em From The Back....i've Gone To Walmart Plenty Of Times At 3 Am 11 Pm Found Nothing....gone Middleof The Day Bam 7 Troopers, Etc. You Just Have To Be A Repetitive Dope Feen And Keep Going Back You'll Find It Eventually.....i Recently Finally Found Wind Version Corbra Commander Chromed Out...when I'm Looking , Hunting, I Rarely Find Crap, When I'm Being Repitious, Just Going Through The Motions There At The Store For Some Other Reason, I Find Em???? I'm Ready For Some New Stuff Though...bring It On Hasbro, More Vintage Remakes, Be Rest Assured We Will Buy It All~!!!!!!!!! OUT OF ALL THE 25TH STUFF OUT THERE ALL THE HUNTING I DID I NEVER ONCE SAW A SNAKE EYES BLACK TIMBER!!! I GOT ALL OF MINE FROM TRADING WITH LOCALS OR ONLINE BEFORE THE PRICE WENT UP.

Ive had good luck going to Walmart a few minutes after 10 p.m. at the 24 hour stores. If you are polite enough the stock person will give you a chance at first dibs while they are stocking the shelves. Never open the boxes when they are not on the floor because they will be less inclined to help you next time....I got waves 2 and 3 plus the cobra legions pack going about it this way. better than waisting gas at $3.00 a gallon out here in Mesa Az!
