I was at my local Dollar General and found some Marvel figures. I figured "Hey cool I can get older MU figures for a little cheaper!"
I was wrong all they did was put the "Driver" Figures from the Spider-Man/Iron Man/Captain America vehicles on a single card and are selling them for $6. It's a load of crap. I would buy the Cap for the sheild but I'm not paying $6 for just a sheild.

I think you should be blaming Hasbro if anything. I don't think Dollar General has much control over what figures they get and don't get.

Probably Hasbro came up with a figure assortment and the Dollar Generals bought them to sell but I would be surprised if this idea was generated by a discount store.

The idea is to get the figures/characters out there in a cheaper line so that others can get ahold of them.

It's as simple as that.

Cheaper price point = cheaper figure.

They aren't for you. They are impulse items for little kids. Nothing to lose and at most a parent only has to buy 4 figures to "complete" a set for their kid.

How much would the figure be if you had to buy the vehicle etc from a non-discount store? That's how I would look at it. For example, at TRU I would have to pay $24.99 to get a figure I wanted plus I also get a vehicle but I can save $18 and get that same figure for $6 and don't need a vehicle.

Its all about how much you want the figure or accessory in this case. Me personally, if I wanted that shield I would buy it and see that amount I am saving compared to what I could have spent.

or I would see that for $25 (for example) I can get a figure, accessories and vehicle.

$6 "just for the shield" seems ok to me, as I said when these first hit. Having one of the casting sites, sell casts of the shield would cost about the same AND it would come UNPAINTED, so for me, I can justify DG's $6 for "just a shield".
