i have been looking around eBay, even Amazon to get an idea of how much to expect to pay for a Valor vs Venom Thunderwing Jet.

but lately, it's like they have all but dried up and vanished.

just surprised at how a recent toy has been this hard to find.

so why the drought?
is it just that good a toy?

any other modern era Joe vehicles you find in short supply/hard to find for your collection like this?

I think it's due to some fans not really knowing about it. A lot of the guys who came back to Joes with the 25th missed out on the entire new sculpt era of 2002-06.

While it was a decently sized heavy chunk of an airplane, I found the wings to be too small and the body to be too fat. The gimmicks were cool though, but could jam. It is VERY durable though. You could probably knock someone unconscious with it.

I've had one since it came out. One of the few projectile firing, lights and sound toys I can say I truly love.was the thunder wing the one that rolled by pushing the exhaust??It's the "GI Joe version" F-22.

I'm sure Kokomo has more than a few.

The TRU F-22 is vastly superior - although bigger in size, it is simply a better looking jet. I would recommend that if you are looking for an F-22 toy. Likely you will save some money on it too!

The Grizzly tank is hard to find and often considered the best Joe tank. The DTC Hiss may be one of the best HISS tanks. The Night Attack Chopper is simply amazing.

It seems like there would at least be a few loose ones on eBay. One MIB might prove difficult being those "opened faced" styled boxes are easily trashed.

My T-wing is still in commission. It's on the shelf next to the new SkyStrikers. Cancelled ROC Ace matches and is a good pilot for it. ROC Airborne is in the nav seat.

Funny timing of this since I was just playing with my Thunderwing yesterday, I was dive bombing my giant cat. Despite being a fat squatty thing, I love it...I'm referring to both my cat and the jet!

Nearly everything I bought from that era of GIJoe was sold off from my collection. The one thing I did keep was the Thunderwing. I agree it is not proportioned very well, but for some reason I still like it.

Quick question, When Hasbro said all molds where destroyed did that include this era of vehicle molds? If not they should really bring some of these vehicles back.

I bought one on clearance years ago, finally decided to open it last year as the box was completely trashed. I kicked myself for not opening it sooner. I love it. It looks great from a front, high 3/4 view. It's the only joe toy I bought from that era, boy did I miss out on some winners...

Didn't know they were getting so hard to find, but I'd get another if I saw one.

I have almost all of the DTC vehicles and VvV vehicles. The ones I missed out on were the Crimson Attack Chopper and the Desert Attack Chopper. At the time, I didn't want repaints. My butt is sore from all the self-kicking...

A couple weekends ago, I was lucky enough to pick up the DTC Rhino sealed. However, the box was bumped in in one of the corners. I was planning to open it anyway. Those things are awesome!

I love the Thunderwing, the Humvees from that era and I even like the Sand Razor, a mod to the gun to get rid of the seats up there and it became a high speed rapid depoly movable mini howitzer or machine gun nest.

alot of thhose vehicles have become my son's and let me tell you vehicles from that era may be ugly but the have alot of play value and best of all they are tough.

I loved that TRU offered one with both Ace and Slipstream. I hope to see Hasbro do something like that again soon.

I was out from the Joe collecting scene during the 2000's time. Only came back during 2007 new tooling and been active on a smaller scale compared to when I was a kid. But I did get the Thunderwing from a fellow tanker for a proposed custom Movie Starscream project. But after getting it in hand, that project was abbandond. Instead, I got the instruction off of YoJoe.com and played around with it and loved all the features it offered for a toy. It was really cool and inovative what features it came with. Now it's one of my favorit fighters and prompted me to seek out other pieces from that line, like the Grizzly, Desert Attack Chopper, and the black Sky Sweeper as my F-117.

Not everything on these toys are an exact replica of the real military vehicle, but then again niether was the stuff from the 80's. Plus it seems that GI Joe has started a war front against CATs, lol. Yeah, my wife's cat knows to stay out of my man cave. It's defended by a Desert Patriot Grizzly, USS Tiger Shark Sub, Thunderwing, and Desert Attack Chopper (which looks more like a Russian Hind).
