Speaking of vehicle variations there's a lesser known one for the neon-tastic Ninja Lightning. I'm curious how many of these are out there. I came upon this one purely by chance.

Can anyone this of any others? I know there's the Armor-Bot, Monster Blaster, the various gun variations on the gliders, etc. There's bound to be more from the early 90's era.

Looks like someone used the red parts from the Mortal Kombat Kombat Cycle.

Nope. The body is a single solid piece with the zipcord pre-attached. You'd literally have to crack it open to change out the zipcord which would break the cycle.

Plus I opened the red one myself.

The Ninja lighting I had came with the darker red missiles. My cat broke the front wheel though, so the vehicle ended up getting tossed.

When did you put the Cobra sticker on the front bumper?

That's just part of the watermark on the picture. :)

Oh, I see now.

I looked on yojoe and the Ninja Lightning picture on the box back shows the red parts.

The variant is actually the pink one, not the red one. A couple years back when I realized I had two I went searching to see which was more common. At the time I found a ratio of 1:3 pink to red. I think I only actually saw two listings in total (searched for a couple of months) for the pink and numerous reds.

Are the Ninja Lightning and Kombat Cycle bodies the same color blue?

The Kombat Cycle is black.

Kombat cycle is black. Question, can you look at the "Made in ?" text and see if they were made in different locations? I remember some Joes in the later run were made in China and Argentina (or was it Brazil).

You talking about the sticker variant for the General or is there another?

The Battle Wagon also has a variant. It's not very "sexy" though as far as variants go. The battery connectors and the support arms on the turret are different.

Also the Air Commando gliders can have any of a number of gun types (either in silver or green). It's like they had a bucket of random gun types and just reached in and stuck them on the gilders before they got packaged.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head right now.

This list dated, error laden, and incomplete.

Yes the General has more than just a decal variation.

I missed Battle Wagon in my list. All the Air Commando glider gun variations I have seen packaged are all non-North American.

So John, Any plans to update your website ? Need any help ?

Yes and yes. In fact after I get back from my trip next month and can catalog what I still have to add (and replace - moving breaks a lot of stuff) I'm going to get back into it.

I'll PM you, appreciate the offer. Lots of things to fix.

Now that's interesting on the Gliders. I've only got half of them with me currently. Definitely need to look into this.

I emailed yojoe a while back. I can help with a lot of pics that they needed. But nobody ever got back to me :(

. The yojoe variant list doesn't mention the Ninja Lightning variant but it does mention the General as a sticker variant.

YoJoe, as extensive as it is, is still missing a lot of information. As is my site. That's part of what makes this hobby fun, I love finding new things/information about these toys.

Thanks for posting this list. I got a Monster Blaster in a lot, then got one with inverted colors when I tried to buy a partial one to complete my first one. I didn't realize there was a difference until I had them side by side. I couldn't find any other info about the difference, so I really do appreciate the info.

YOJOE.COM | Action Figure Archive (http://www.yojoe.com/action/variations/varveh.shtml)

Thanks for posting that link. I checked Yojoe for variants of the MB APC, but the main listing doesn't say anything. I didn't realize that vehicles variants weren't treated the same was as figure variations and aren't listed on the item's main page.

Does anybody have any other info on the two different Monster Blasters? Did they just decide to swap colors partway through? The light top/dark bottom seems harder to find, is that right?

Here's a comparison, for anyone who might be interested...

I think if you look at all the Major Vehicle Variations in the Later years (Barracuda, MM APC, Scorpion Jeep, Armor Bot, etc..) where the Variation is that the Colors Alternate between 2 colors, It's simply a matter of Hasbro only having one set of tooling, and doing 2 runs in the different colors.

I think you can imagine the top and bottom of the Monster Blaster APC being one single mold. To produce X MB APCs, Hasbro made X/2 in Light Green, and X/2 in Dark Green, and then just alternated which halves got packed together.

I have 2 MB APC's MISB...one is glued shut, one is Taped. I've been tempted to open them both to see if the way the box is sealed determines the coloring of the contents.
